Here's the text:

Chad Johnson to Redskins in secret deal
By Anthony Brown | April 1st, 2008

Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown made known to agent Drew Rosenhaus that he was relenting on a possible trade for wide receiver Chad Johnson. Brown finally lost all patience with Johnson and his antics and would like to be rid of a headache.

That was all Rosenhaus needed to approach Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder about trading for Johnson. Rosenhaus and Johnson met Snyder in a cocktail bar at the NFL owner’s meeting in Palm Beach, Fla. But, Snyder deferred to new executive vice president Vinny Cerrato who now makes all personnel calls for the team.

According to sources who wish to remain anonymous because they are not authorized to speak for the teams, Cerrato balked at Johnson’s price tag but relented with Rosenhaus’ offer to structure a back end loaded deal that would protect the Redskins’ salary cap position in 2008 and ‘09, but could guarantee Johnson over $10 million per year starting in 2010 when the salary cap will go away with the voided Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The teams have a handshake agreement on the deal, but will not announce it until draft day, April 26. The Bengals, who have the ninth pick in the first round, will receive the Redskins’ first and fourth round draft pick.

This story was written on April 1.

go ahead make our day! what is there to think is "real" about a report that even makes you aware it was written on April 1?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I love Ocho-Cinco...but he is not what the Redskins need!!! Nor should they want to give up draft picks for a 30 year old WR.

Well what's the ole saying "where there's smoke, there's usually some fire". Let's hope not, I personally think we need to watch our cap and not mortgage our future for a 30 year old wide out looking to make the big bucks. Ocho Cinco is a good receiver, but let's be real here, he was outplayed by Housh all year, he had 2 great games, and 14 others...he's not even the best receiver on his team.

We don't have a 4th round pick anyway....at least if they are gonna pull a april fool's joke, it should look real.....Honestly, if we trade our 1st and 5th rounder, I would go for it. There is plenty of depth at DE, DB, and OL later in the draft. We would get a proven WR and a go-to-guy for J-Cam. I like it!

Yes, yes it is.

This was written April 1st also...

Lewis is the Chris Matthews in the Bengals' Hardball approach to Johnson. On Tuesday he continued to reach out and help him ("I'm willing to take the bullets again," he said) but he wondered about Johnson's image and if he was serious about getting traded or quitting.

"We've been dealing with this inside for over a year and we'll be prepared to move on," Lewis said. "He has a contract through 2011. If he plays NFL football it will be in Cincinnati, or he has to do what he says and that's retire. That would be a shame. We'll do everything we can to help him out of this and try to restore his image.

"Unfortunately Chad put himself in that situation. A lot of people who really had an affection for him fan-wise and people around the league see him in a different light and that's unfortunate. Some of the things he's gone on record and said one way or the other he's going to have to deal with them one way or the other. ... He's said he's probably going to sit out. I think you've got to own up and do it. Hopefully he'll do what Kobe Bryant did this year. He had a very accomplished season (after his trade demands). The Cincinnati Bengals hold the cards through the 2011 season."

Lewis has never been known to blow smoke, and this sounds like he also knows how to but put out a fire.

Chris Mortensen just reported on ESPN that these trade offers are not accurate. Mort said that Snyder has been in talks with Cincy at the owners meetings here in Florida. Mort said the Skins have offered a 1st and 3rd this year and our 1st round pick in 2009. So that's two 1st rounders and a 3rd for Chad. Mort also said Cincy's FO is now seriously considering the offer, regardless of the recent comments made by Lewis.

People who play April Fools jokes are idiots. It's nothing more the screwing with people maliciously and getting away with it because it's 'okay'. Tools. And shame on any media who participate and sucker punch readers/viewers who trust them for fair, honest, news. I don't know who came up with April Fools - Tyler Durden?

I think getting Chad Johnson for two firsts and a 3rd is more than a fair deal for Cincy and if anything the Redskins would be over-extending; however I think bringing in CJ and pairing him with moss, el, and cooley would be dddddddynamic. If thats the deal on the table I say do it. Next year we need a big possesion reciever who finds the endzone.

2 first rounders and a 3rd better be a joke. CJ isn't no where near that good.
