As an alternate behind me and my mother, maybe. The best season of his career wouldn't be productive enough for the Redskins needs. The Redskins need 200 receptions out of their wide receivers to be competitive with the best teams in the league.

It was a joke, for Christ's sake. By the way, we know lots of men have been behind you and your mother.

So was either me or my mother getting on a football field at our ages a joke.
Both of us have more years than any of the Redskins had catches last season.

I mean really....James Thrash? Thrash is a heck of a human being and player but really? Our #2 will be Thrash. People are clamoring for Ocho Cinco at #2 and we're sitting here thinking Thrash is a #2? Thrash at best is a #4 WR at this stage of his career.

I too cringe at the though of injury after we let Rece go. He wasn't asking for a lot of money, it would have been a good safety valve.

Thrash and ARE split time at #2 last year. We don't know what Thrash or Mix can do. Gibbs asked Thrash to block so much that he wasn't even an option many time he was on the field. The second game that Moss missed Thrash had 5 catches for 85 yards and 2 TDs in the first half before being lost for the season. So put in the correct situation Thrash can still be effective. Do I think he would be a great or even good #2, not really, but he would be OK. Can we and should we get an upgrade there, absolutly. Maybe one of our third rounders (provided we getthe compenstitory one) would be a good time to draft a WR.

We certainly don't know if Mix can play, because he hasn't done anything yet in the NFL. That doesn't mean he can't play, but I certainly would feel more comfortable with Thrash at #2 than Mix. Hope Mix turns into a good #2 or even a good #4.

Thrash isn't some unknown rookie. He's been in the league for 12 seasons. He's had exactly two good seasons (and I'm being pretty generous with the term good) as a receiver during that span. In each of the past 4 seasons his numbers have declined. At this point he is a #4 or #5 receiver. The fact that we are even talking about him as a #2 shows how dire our situation at receiver is.

I agree. He can catch the ball and he can run routes, but he excels at neither. He would be mediocre at best starting (I don't think he'd be better than ARE) and personally, I don't want the skins to settle for mediocre. I like Thrash, I really do, but 'the best interest of the Redskins' is what we need to focus on, and Thrash starting isn't it.
...any given Sunday....

RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

I do not think that anyone who really matters has any illusion about our WRs - I have a lot more confidence in the personnel decisions based on what we have been through here the last 3 months and I do believe that we will continue to improve the team in a much more structured way than we have seen in the past.

Thrash has proven to be a valuable "team player" in the NFL and will most likely earn a spot on the team again because he makes the team better. That is not to say he will be one of our top 3 WRs because that is not his role. I am not as concerned about this as many here - I really expect to have a decent to good offense this year and not because of any single group of players but rather because I think we will have much better luck health-wise with our line and a lot more success with our "new" offense through better game planning.

I fully expect a much better offensive line than last year with more depth (hopefully). I think our backs and wideouts are going to enjoy many more opportunities than last year because the offense will be tailored to suit them rather than they trying to make the plays that were designed.

Defensively we have some concerns but these can be taken care of with both the draft and some additions.

We do need to have a WR corp to suit what we want to do offensively but this will happen in the next few months. This draft is fairly deep in a lot of positions that we are "thin" at and fortunately that also means that there might be either players available when we draft OR players cut from other teams that might help also.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
