Brandon Lloyd released ... get's 1 yr deal with the Bears

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

He just signed with the Bears:

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)—Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears and inadvertently stirred a quarterback controversy Friday.

“Rex Grossman is the starter,” Lloyd said during a conference call.

Well, not exactly.

The Bears have said that Grossman and Kyle Orton will compete for the starting job next season, and Lloyd apparently jumped to a premature conclusion. When asked who told him Grossman would start, the receiver backpedalled.

“That’s what I’m assuming,” said Lloyd, who was released after two disappointing seasons in Washington. “That’s what …”

It's not like we have a history of letting guys go (I'm not talking being out bid for a FA like Pierce) and them turning into studs. The only person that comes to mind is Walt Harris and EVERYONE in DC wanted to see him go.

When we let an uneracheiver go that has talent he usually falls of the NFL Earth.

Typical. The biggest problem with Lloyd is that he's not willing to take responsibility. I don't know the whole story. None of us do but why go out there and say something like that. Even after a team only gives him a 1 year contract. He's too stupid to understand the best thing he can do is keep his mouth shut play his butt off. Now is the time where he better work harder than he ever has b/c his reputation is tarnished and he's only tarnishing it some more. Funny how now he has all this confidence. I bet a new rap song will come out of all this.

Not to defend him but he also said it wasn't all anyone else's fault either, and it appears he was doing Redskins fans a favor by not speaking to the press while playing in Washington, I mean he signed a 1 year deal the team and rekindled a QB controversy with in few hours of doing so.

Lloyd entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick (124th overall) of the San Francisco 49ers in 2003. In five NFL seasons with the 49ers (2003-05) and Washington Redskins (2006-07), the University of Illinois product appeared in 68 contests with 42 starts and caught 130 passes for 1,889 yards (14.5 ypc) and 13 touchdowns.

Wow! I think you need to preview your posts before you submit them. What a a very ironic spelling error.

On topic though, who really cares about him? The end result is a receiver that didn't get the job done in DC. Personally, I don't care if he ever catches another NFL pass. I also don't care if he does and it's a 90 yard bomb. He gone and let's just try to forget that he was ever here.
You'll always be remembered Sean. R.I.P.

The biggest problem with Lloyd is that he's not smart. He hasn't learned when to keep his mouth shut...

Anyone have any idea what his Wonderlic score was coming out of Illinois? I'm sure he was in the Frank Gore range -- single digits.

Not so fast, Cleg. You know how it goes. Sometimes the trick with these knuckleheads is trying to find something that motivates them. Turner apparently thinks he knows what that is.
