Sad News...Pat Tillman KIA
CNN is reporting that former NFL player Pat Tillman was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan. Pat left his NFL career after 9/11 to serve his country. Just wanted to pay my respect to someone willing to make so costly a sacrifice.

A true patriot
Pat Tillman gave up a job we would all love to have....to go serve his country in Afghanistan. He was a classy guy, he did not do interviews while in the Army because he did not want to be singled out. He was part of the Ranger team. Dan Patrick said that Simeon Rice was quoted as saying that Pat Tillman joined the Military because he could not make it in the NFL and that he wanted the publicity...Simeon Rice is an !$#!%#. Tillman gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country. He makes you realize that football is just a game.

As a veteran all I could do was bow my head and thank him in my heart...
My sympathies go out to his family... and from what his father and mother said - he and his brother refused any special treatment or to be followed around by cameras - he was there for Duty, Honor and Country.
I have less than zero respect for Simmering Lice now.

...former Cardinals teammate Simeon Rice, now a member of the Super Bowl champion-Tampa Bay Buccaneers, disparaged Tillman in an interview on Jim Rome's radio show last month.
"He really wasn't that good, not really," Rice said. "He was good enough to play in Arizona, [but] that's just like the XFL."
After several more promptings from Rome, Rice allowed, "I think it's very admirable, actually. You've got to give kudos to a guy like that because he did it for his own reasons. Maybe it's the Rambo movies, maybe it's Sylvester Stallone, Rocky, whatever compels him."

Simmering Lice ought to keep his nose out of other people's business. Not only did the man give up everything else, he sacrificed his life for what he believed in.
I guess Lice's attitude is easy enough to understand - when you don't have a good foundation for what you believe in, you don't ever form a belief that you would be willing to die for.
Just my opinion, for what it's worth

Wow first I would like to send my condolences to his family. Second, It is unbelievable that a player in the NFL where you will make at least 300,000 a year. He did this to fight for us here in the US. I dont know of one person on Earth who would do that.
RIP Pat.
RIP Pat.

SR AND ALL AMERICANS SHOULD BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE FOLLOWING QUOTE:
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." --John Stewart Mills
TO MEN LIKE MR.TILLMAN WE OWE OUR RESPECT - GOD BLESS

Great quote Skins #1... I first heard about Pat Tillman on rome's show and was amazed that a professional athelete would do something like this. What a great guy. This man desrves the utmost respect. My sympathies and prayers go out to his family, especially his brother. May he return safely.
I know a lot of other soldiers have lost their lives over there and not anywhere near as much is being made of it. Frankly, I am okay with it. This man gave up much more than most. He was/would've been living on easy street but chose to fight for our freedom. What Simeon Rice said was flat out stupid. It shows you how self-centered he is. My rambling is not doing Pat any good though, so I'll just bow my head and say a prayer for him, his family, and every other serviceman and their family. May God be with you all.

You'll always be remembered Sean. R.I.P.
Many people have said in times like this that words can not convey the sacrifice that that man made. Imagine the millions of dollars each year he gave up to fight for our country, which gives most of us a chance at a life far better than most who walk this earth.
Pat Tillman was a true American, and he found something in America that was worth his own life, something of greater value than whatever future he may have had.
I hope each of us find that something of America, and keep it with us for all time, to remember what it is like to be in a country where Pat Tillman and many others could be so brave. Hopes and prayers go with them and theirs.

I agree DE. Pat Tillman made a huge sacrifice. He gave up millions of dollars and a pampered life style to fight for the very reason he had those things. I have the upmost respect for him but lets not forget. There are 100,000 other soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors over there making those same sacrifices. Some men over there will never meet their children who were born after there deployment. There is a part of me that regrets getting out of the military in 1997 because I don't have the opportunity to fight for this country and our ideals and for our freedom. I am glad that there are brave men and women that are able and willing to do so.
God Bless Pat Tillman and all of our other members of the armed forces for keeping us free. Te death of Pat Tillman will not go in vain, because he died for the noblest cause there is. Freedom. He also puts a face to the soldiers who are dieing for our rights and to make the world a better place.
