NASCAR!!

Post by TeeterSalad »

Anyone follow NASCAR?

I enjoy watching cars go fast and turn left, and root for Denny Hamlin, being a Joe Gibbs fan. Looking forward to seeing the FedEx #11 tear up the competition this year.

I used to love Nascar before the huge influx of new blood and marketing. I rooted for Sterling Marlin back when he drove for Kodak and Coors. It was great seeing the salty old vets versus the new kids. Since Dale Sr's death, though, it's been all downhill. Every new driver you see has the same haircut, same before/after race speech, same attitude. They're all just billboards for their sponsors now.

Amen to that brutha!!!

I do wish Yeley the best though with Hall of Fame Racing out there in Phoenix. He had a good attitude but he just wasn't up to par with the kind of drivers that were on our team.

Daytona 500 coming up soon, I'm kind of excited to see how we do. So far it looks like those Toyotas are gonna give those other drivers hell. I still prefer those Chevy's we had but I guess everything has to change at some point.

GO JGR!!!!

Just look at Craftsman Truck Series and how long they've been running Toyotas, they dominate!! I wanted JGR to stay with Chevy at first, but i think we need a change to keep up with those Hendrick guys, and Toyota is looking great so far.

I think that has as much to do with Toyota conning NASCAR into using their truck body as the series template as anything else. It gave Toyota an advantage that other teams are still working to make up.

Chevy will dominate NEXTEL and Busch (as it should be  ) again this year . I just hope Joe doesn't regret this move.

As a Dale Jarrett fan, I can say he regretted the move last year. :-(

I remember when Dodge came back to nascar some years back. They allowed the dodge cars more room to change the car because it was their first year. It made it hard on the other teams. Same will happen with Toyota. This is a big reason why I have stopped watching Nascar.

You notice that anyone or anything "new" does well. Wonder why that is. Dale JR is old news. So, a "new" or "young blood" comes in and dominates everyone. And its the same for everyone whos new.

Sure you run into a freak of nature from time to time. But every new guy is a freak, come on.

Adrian Peterson this year was a freak in the NFL. But realisticly this happens what, once in 4 or 5 years? But some how in Nascar almost every new driver is a dominate "freak".

Remember Tony Stuart first few years. He had an attitude. That made it interesting. Something different, but then they made him change. They made him just like everyone else. Same before/after speaches.

Sux. That's not racing IMO. Its a bunch of guys doing what they are told. Some guys get away with things others don't during a race. Bumping going below the line when they aren't suppose too. Some get a away with it others don't. Some bump and rub and "Its racing" and helps his popularity, others do the same thing and get black flaged for being too agressive and gets a bad rep for it.

It sux any way you look at it. I live in betwee the the Martinsville track and the Southboston track. Everyone knows martinsville. The southboston track is where drivers like the Burton brothers grew up racing. Racing is every where here. I grew up loving nascar. But I can't stand it now. Im also maybe 20 mins from VIR/ Virginia International Racetrack. Its a road course mosltly Bikes and Exotics run there. Its much more fun to go to those races than it is to go to Martinsville. Much cheaper too.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

I don't know BN.. we were talking about cars.. specifically about how these toyotas that jgr got now. I agree Trey, I hope we don't regret it but at least the toyotas are lookin hot for now. The test of course will be against the hendrix team. As for hot drivers, who's young and hot? I think honestly and of course I'm biased, Denny is the best 'young' driver that's out there now but nobody's been hot to me besides him. Montoya had a decent season even though he isn't really young but just made a move across. Other than that, who? Kyle is okaaaay and I do hope he gets even better with us, but still there's nobody else young and hot.

Joe Gibbs Racing has local kid from Silver Spring...

We looked good at the Daytona 500, we just need to make sure we secure the victory. I was beefin when Denny was having that span of bad luck. I love the fact that those jerks from Hendricks only had 1 car in the top 10 and none in the top 5. LOVELY!!! Also good for Dodge too, 6 cars in the top 10 is great.

Well, it appeared that he could have gone up high (by himself) and potentially block Newman and/or Ku. Busch or do what he did and stay low hoping that Ky. Busch was gonna give him a good push. The problem was that Ky. Busch was too damn low and had to slow down or else face a penalty. Ku. Busch gave his teammate Newman one hell of a monster push and they both blew right by Tony. Even though my guys didn't win, it was still a great race and the ending was exciting to see someone get pushed through the finishing line. I hate Ku. Busch but that was awesome team work and showed he's capable of not being selfish. Great for Nascar, bummer for my JGR guys.

Yeah JGR looked great, they dominated that race. Hamlin had terrible luck and still finished in 17th after 3 "incidents." JGR will win a lot of races this year with those Yotas out there.

Well, it looks like Carl Edwards took it yesterday in the Sprint race. You would've sworn I was a Carl fan the way I was screaming and yelling for him to pass those two jerks from Hendricks. Glad he won but still pissed that Hendricks had two drivers in the top three but at least Ky. Busch came up 4th and Tony rounded out the Toyota's with the 7th spot.
So in the top 10; Chevy (4), Dodge (2), Ford (2), Toyota (2).

Right now Ky. Busch is tearing up the standings by leading both the Sprint Cup & Craftsman Series while also coming up -30 points behind Tony Stewart who has the lead in the Nationwide Series. JGR not doing so bad this year huh; except for Denny Hamlin who's hit some bad luck but that'll definitely get turned around for sure. He's currently in the 31st spot in the Sprint Cup Series. *He dropped 16 spots after his car banged the wall pretty hard because of a wet spot on the track* So in the Sprint Cup Series in points, we have Ky. Busch: 325 points, R. Newman: -6, T. Stewart: -19, Ku. Busch: -36, C. Edwards: -39, K. Kahne: -41, K. Harvick: -67, J. Johnson: -68, G. Biffle: -73, J. Burton: -74 (I'm loving the fact that two of my guys are in the top 10.. and yes, there's a long way to go but I'm gonna cherish every minute of it..LOL)

Next up, Vegas Motor Speedway where unfortunately for me seemed to owned by Hendricks in the last couple of years. J. Johnson has a three-peat there for '07, '06 and '05. Needless to say I'm gonna guess he'll tear it up but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that either Tony, Denny, or Kyle can break "the reign of terror" that Hendricks has at this track.

Good luck JGR, I'll be cheering for ya!!!
