For those of you questioning Chad Johnson's Heart/Character
http://youtube.com/watch?v=57HEkdIe3ac
I've been hearing a lot of people say that Chad Johnson just wants a big fat pay day, thus he wants to be traded to the Redskins. No. This guy wants to win, he is a competitor. This video shows how fiery he is about the game, and to be honest I will be dissapointed if we don't land him. He's a Gibbs kind of guy if you ask me.

I too think it is a move that should be made if feasible. I don't think he is a great team guy or anything but i don't think he is as much a problem as the media tries to make him out to be. He def. has a ton of energy. I'm more interested in the fact that he is tall, fast, and has outstanding hands.

I'm more interested in these facts:
1. He's a clubhouse cancer and a primadonna, which far outweighs the benefit of any potential increase in production (T.O. was productive in SF and PHI, but still managed to destroy both of those teams and set them back for multiple seasons after his departure)
2. Several high draft picks would be spent in landing 85, which would further weaken the team's depth along both lines and at other key positions. What good is Johnson if the QB has 2 seconds to plant and throw? (see Tom Brady, SB 42 for further details)
3. Even if the 'Skins are willing to pony up the draft picks, Johnson's cap hit to the Bengals will be 8.8 million if he is not on the team next year. This has been reported widely in the media and in at least two other threads on this site, and should be the dagger in the heart of any further "85 to the Redskins" talk this offseason....
4. His contract will be huge, forcing other players to restructure in the future and limiting the pursuit of other FAs for years to come
5. He will turn 30 this season and is only the second-best WR on his current team. What will his production be like without Housh drawing heavy attention on the other side of the field?
6. This would be yet another Snyder fantasy football acquisition. How many times can you repeat the same formula and expect different results?

CJ has had more receiving yards than anyone else in the league since 2003.
CJ just set a Bengals franchise record for receiving yards in a season this past season (1440). Even if some people thought Houshmanzadeh had a "better" year just because he got the redzone looks.
CJ has 6 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons.
Houshmanzadeh is good, but he is NOT BETTER THAN CHAD JOHNSON
Houshmanzadeh benefits from having CJ and Chris Henry on his team to stretch the field and take attention away from his side.

I'd need this part explained to me. I just don't see it. Housh is a Gibbs type a guy and I would take him over Chad any day of the week. Unfortunately the voice of reason is gone and the Snyder fantasy league will reopen soon.

Are you kidding???!!! The league is already in full swing, and official "Me so Zorny" shirts are already in the Redskins Stores selling for $19.99.

None of those help our cap situation or improves our D and O lines.

OBVIOUSLY HOG!! *DUH*.. lol
Look, all I'll say about Chad is this.. with everything everyone typed, the dude still had pretty damn good numbers. Someone else posted his numbers in another thread and I think he was in the top 10 or 15 last season? (not sure of category but I know he still got good numbers) Is Jason like Carson, no, but he's younger and he has one hell of an arm.. so ask yourself.. Wouldn't you want this line up facing a good defense:
ARE, Santana, C. Johnson,

(Of course we'll need a stronger OLine)
I would, I hope we get him with contract stipulations that'll keep his tail in line.

As far as T.O. goes, he is a much worse problem than Johnson, and he still crippled the offenses of SF and Philly when he left, and Tony Romo probably would not be a starter in the league without T.O. on the team. We saw first hand at the end of the year how bad Romo is without T.O. Same thing goes for Manning and Burress. The reason the offenses were crippled after he left was not because he was a clubhouse cancer, but because he was no there.

You're forgetting that Housh was dominant even while facing double teams while Johnson was injured this past season.

Just the fact that the matter of Johnson vs. Housh is open for debate is an indicator that Johnson is not automatically worth a first rounder, two second rounders, or any other combination of high draft picks that have been bandied about....

I totally agree with Mursillis and DEHog on this - the ONLY reason he would want to come to our team is for the money and not because he wants to help make this team better - he wants to come here for all the wrong reasons and that is all you need to know about this cancer - hopefully, this is NOT going to happen.
Now, IF Snyder brings him in here and he does not do well OR we do not do well - that is fine by me, actually I hope he does come and we make another mistake like all the others - that is what normally happens when you add guys to your team for the wrong reason.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

The Bengals unwillingness to trade CJ would tell me that if we managed to convince them to change their minds, it would automatically cost us way more than he is worth.
Besides, WR is about 4th on the list of legitimate needs for this team that is now the only NFL team still over the Salary Cap.
A monster pass rusher is the only position the Redskins could afford to pay too much for, because it's still the missing link.
We lost to Seattle because of their pass rush which would indicate 0-line is the 2nd need, and illustrate the value of a pass rush. Remember, NYG won the super bowl not because of Burress, but because of their pass rush.
