Join the List: "I'll eat crow if Zorn succeeds."
As a public service to the rest of THNers, I am creating this list for future reference.
In the past, when crow has been served, very few people man-up and take their serving.
I'm taking the first spot on this list, and I encourage others to add their names, if they wish to go on the record as a Zorn-detractor.
I'll set the table, if and when the time comes, but, for now, I cannot see this guy succeeding as coach of the Washington Redskins.
"Joe" Zorn is not the answer.
The list begins now:
1. REDEEMEDSKIN
2. cleg (as of 2/12/08 @ 2:09 pm)

All I know is that his name is beyond funny...
Seriously I believe that is why he was hired, the marketing potential for his name is monumental. "Me so Zorny" t-shirts will be a success.
Who know's if he'll succeed.
His lack of experience + a wacky front office + a meddlesome owner who only was hands off cus of Gibbs + Vinny who will do Danny's wishes so that Danny won't look bad + a predetermined coaching staff with 0 chemistry..... = success?

Keep this thread open. It will be a meter of the performance of our coaching staff. Redskins fans are a finicky bunch. Even the most patient can turn negative very quickly.
I hope for the best but I am prepared for the worst.

A pragmatic and reasonable approach. I have always liked Zorn... he was Favre before Favre was Favre (a gunslinger), just on a far worse team in (at that time) a much less visible market, that never manged to progress.
I have high hopes for the best, but my expectations... well, let's just say that they will be managed.
If Zorn succeeds it will have been luck that The Danny found him.
Isn't that the case with any first time head coach? The history of the league is rife with broken expectations and pleasant surprizes.

I'd like to see him succeed, and I think he will. IF he gets the chance, namely the time to do so.
And right now, I don't think he will.
Luckily for you, you just skipped that patient part and went straight to the negative

This is a great thread idea, thanks! I wish we'd had this thread last December for all the experts who said we would never make the playoffs.
Anyway, I don't have any clue if Zorn is going to work out or not. I'm just choosing to be optimistic.

Zorn is a wild card - nobody knows
However I like the team personnel (thanks Joe)
And my biggest reason for potential optimisim is...
1. Santana Moss
2. Chad Johnson
3. Antwann Randel El
4. Chris
ey
If we get Chad Johnson, and we fix that o-line, given time any QB even Trent Dilfer could slice and dice any defense with those weapons you can't cover Moss, Ocho, Antwann,
ey and Portis out the backfield! Its not possible!, and if Zorn's offense is one that Jason can comprehend and figure out...then look out.
The thing about the Giants' success is their pass rush, they get sacks, we occassionally get some sacks, emphasis on some, we need to draft defense and oline, I'll also be watching to see how motivated Portis and Moss are to keep fighting and playing hard for Zorny. Portis didn't want to practice for Gibbs how much will he do for Zornography.
The lack of continuity on offense for us is a problem but one could argue that a new style was needed, overall team continuity could be hurt if they do not buy into Zorn and his Maroon Cadillac. If I had to guess I'd say we.... aww screw it NFC EAST CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you want to trade for Chad Johnson (likely multiple picks), fix the oline, and draft dline and defense? Just one question for you, how are the Skins going to do that if they trade away multiple draft picks for Chad Johnson? We are already missing one draft pick this year and one next season.

We are not going to pay them any money against the Cap. We are going to pay them in kind (under the table).CanesSkins26 wrote:So you want to trade for Chad Johnson (likely multiple picks), fix the oline, and draft dline and defense? We are going to offer them free entrance to Six Flags to them, their children, their children's children, and their children's children's children, and so on and so on over the next few generations.

I'd give the #21st pick in the draft or two 2nd rounders and thats as much as I'd offer, then use the rest to find some linemen. If its a 1st round pick that should be enough for a 30year old stud WR, we might throw in Blloyd, or another wideout. Use the other picks on line.

Really? That's ALL you'd give up? That's the shrewd bargain that you'd drive? How would we ever get the Bengals to agree to that....that's highway robbery!

The draft pick alone is more than enough compensation for Johnson, and is a much higher price than the 'Skins can afford to pay, in any case. Please remember that the last disgruntled star WR to be traded (R. Moss) changed hands for a FOURTH ROUND PICK
Also, to beat the now-fragmentary remains of what used to be a dead horse, it will cost the Bengals 8.8 MILLION to trade #85. Considering that, what are the chances of getting a historically-cheap franchise to trade him, regardless of the offer?
I really shouldn't have to add that no 'Skins WR outside of Santana Moss has any trade value whatsoever, so throwing one of them into any proposed trade would be asolutely senseless....
I really hope that you're Matt Millen masquerading as a Redskins fan.....

Why? Is he from the South? Was he raised like Steve Martin's character was in "The Jerk"? I'm not following the fried chicken reference.

Anway, at last check, the list remains as follows:
1. REDEEMEDSKIN
2. cleg
We can't be the only detractors who are men enough to add their names to the list, are we?

I just mentioned chicken because I love fried chicken. Actually I am now going to try and cut out foods fried with bad oils. Peanut oil is the best oil to fry with by the way, makes the fried chicken very tasty. Anyhow back to the topic, I am a believer in Zorn.
What list are you referring to? The non believers in ZOrn? I guess I would eat crow if Zorn does not work out. So I dont look forward to eating the crow bird. I prefer the Fried chicken or hot wings watching the Skins in the SuperBowl.

i think Zorn will be a good coach - it will most likely take time but I think Snyder will give him that because I think it will be obvious that he is a good coach even if initially the wins are hard to come by.
Zorn will be supported by Snyder because he "discovered" him and made him our HC - AND I think he will quickly have both players and coaches producing good results.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
