Jim Zorn Is The Next Head Coach
Just got off the phone with sources with knowledge of the situation. Zorn is the next head coach. He spent a lot of time with Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder the past two days, team sources said, and the brass "fell in love with him." A press conference should come Monday.

Zorn was the Seattle QB coach the last 6 years and spent about two weeks as the Redskins Offensive Coordinator, before this latest promotion.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................ the "brass fell in love with him" a.k.a. nobody wanted the job knowing they would probably not last long and snyder got desperate.
There are only two teams I root for in the NFL. The Skins, and whoever is playing Dallas.

It's okay that we drafted a Landry. After this season, the crygirls will have a new association with that name.

So who is going to be our new QB coach now? Dual roles for Zorn?

Wonder how Fassel, Mooch & Meeks are feeling right about now?

So they hire him as OC and then fall in love with him...hmmm. I don't realy know what to think. I'll support him though, and hope for the best.

Zorn Hired As Redskins Coach
Published: 2/9/08, 6:46 PM EDT
By JOSEPH WHITE
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Redskins hired Jim Zorn as their coach Saturday night, a surprise ending to a monthlong search for a replacement for Joe Gibbs, The Associated Press has learned.

Zorn will be introduced at a news conference at 3 p.m. Sunday, according to a person who was informed of the Redskins' decision. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement had not been made.

Zorn, a former Seattle quarterback, has been the Seahawks' quarterbacks coach for the last seven years. The Redskins hired him to be their offensive coordinator on Jan. 26 while continuing their search for a head coach.

What's really funny about this news release on AT & T News is that the picture attached to it is a picture of Steve Mariucci.

Everyone wanted the Redskins to promote from within, right?

The Zorn Identity

Hey, he's as good as any right now. What a sad sad state of affairs. Our beloved franchise, ditched by Gibbs, reeling from tradgedy, lacking leadership, being handed over to one of the enemy's QB coaches. Pathetic.

I like this move. Zorn has nowhere to go, but up! Fassel or Mooch would have had alot of additional pressure and that alone could have caused them to fail.

Zorn was (I think) the first hire after JG retired, it's kina like hiring your head coach first, the way we all wished it would have been to begin with. He can now bring in his guys to be the OC and QB coach...

We needed a change and now we have it! I thin it's great and are very optimistic about the future..

At this point, I'm okay with this. Its not Fassel. Young guy, first time head coach. Why the heck not?

But does anybody really believe this is a better choice that Gregg Williams????

That was the first thought to pop into my head when I heard it. I just hope the players get behind him. It seems like it would be a tough thing for the players to swallow considering the experience we had in our hands and now, it has all been turned over to someone with no experience. Geez, I was worried about his inexperience as an OC and now he's running the team. I hope it all works out and it's definitely a fresh start. I think we'll need some early success though or it could get ugly.

What an absolutely baffling move.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

For me, it has the tone of 'settling' for who they had after someone -- either the interviewee or Sny-ratto -- found enough reason why each of the other candidates shouldn't be coach.
