Trung Candidate.......
Now I know C.Portis is going to be great and I'm hoping he gets between 25-30 touches per game but I forsee Trung Candidate also playing a great role. Sort of the third down, catching passes out of the backfield burner that he seems to be suited best for. What thinks you fellow skins?[/list]

I dont know you but I like your style. He will be a major contibuter. He is finally on a team that runs first.
Rams did not run much and neither did SOS. He will be nice if we dont cut him.

I think Betts and Morton are going to fill that role, Canidate is expensive
What is he like $700,000 thats not expensive. Betts has not shown me anything and his yards for carry suck incomparison to Trung, besides we should still have Watts not Betts

We also have Sultan McCullugh (sp?) back there. I think he can be a contributer. Cartright has some great carries last year too. I have nothing against Trung but I'm thinking cut him as well. Between Betts, Morton, McCullugh, and Rock, I thin we can definitely cut Trung. I was rooting for him when we signed him but we need da money.

I agree with the arm tackle cards, but when Trung was healthy we won games. He has play maker potential. He could become a late bloomer muck like Priest Holmes.

I dont that we are that bad off to cut our second best runner behind Portis. We should get rid of some of this excess baggage not our second best as far a the numbers go.

While it may seem Trung didn't do well - he did well enough in games that he played in. I think at one point he tried to come back from his high ankle sprain and did himself more harm than good - that is a bad injury - real painful.
I think if he shows his speed and doesn't get hurt he could be a good RB to have as a third down back

Trung and Ladell will battle for the #2 running back spot. If he makes it, we will have one of the best backups in the league. No sarcasm here, folks.

Betts/Candidate will only see action when Portis needs a breather or in blowout situations.
Gibbs mentioned how Denver would leave Portis in on thrid downs in every press release for about a week

It'd be nice to have Trung as a backup. . .remember those couple of screen passes that he almost broke (one stopped only by a shoelace tackle)? I also remember a game in Washington when he broke a crucial 4th quarter run to bring the team down to the 10 yard line (or so). Lavar Arrington then proceeded to sack Warner, ending the Rams chance of winning on that day.

You may be thinking of Lamar Gordon. I don't remember Trung getting much action against us that game.

trung never struck me as an outstanding pass catching back, hes certainly fast but the other skills are things he doesnt seem to have, rather have portis or morton catching than him, and this one play sticks out in my mind from last year where he fumbled a toss.. i cant get that one play out of my head when thinking of trung

Either way. . .uhh. . .Redskins win!! Yeah!!
No that was Trung. Thats one of the reasons Spurrier went after him because he can dash in a single back formation

Trung always gives me the impression that if the defense blows hard enough they will knock him over, and have a good chance of injuring him. Don't get me wrong---the guy is grease lightning--but he doesn't take hits very well. He had fumble problems in St. Louis also. If Gibbs says he is ok then I say he is ok.

I think we should keep Trung. He's incredibly fast and is the perfect back-up for Portis. He isn't expensive. He is a speedy back like Portis. He is also the same size as Portis. Both are 5-11 and 205 lbs. He is perfect for insurance. If Portis has to miss any games, we won't have to alter the playbook to much sticking Trung in there considering their the same type of RB. He also averaged 4.5 yards per carry under Spurriers pass only offense that wasn't designed for RBs.
Let us all gather around and drink the
ey-Aid of the Redskins.
