Who should really pick the next coach?

Seem to be a lot of opinions on this, to say the least.

We live in the great country...it's Dan's team...he has the right to choose whomever. Just as we have the right to voice our opinion of his choice!

I think it would be a great idea to let Joe Gibbs pick the next Head Coach

I think the decision should be left to the highest bidder - just like the stadium naming rights...

ROTFALMAO

That is too funny! And less crazy that they would do it as it sounds. I liked Stadiums with NAMES, not companies. I was so disappointed when JKC Stadium became Fedex.

With college bowls it's worse. I was fine when they said things like the Y Bowl "brought to you by" X Company. I was annoyed when they started calling them the X Y Bowl. Now except the biggies they are just the Company name bowl. I don't even get that because now the Bowls have no identity at all, they are just a game.

So why WOULDN'T they do your suggestion? Do me a favor, keep it to yourself. At least make them THINK of that.

Cant Blame Snyder

Post by wamcma »

How can every other person I read blame Dan Snyder for not wanting continuity and stabiltiy? I mean how, when it was Joe Gibbs, whom I truly admire, that opted out of a 5 commitment and maybe an offer for a 2 year extension. I dont see this as DS having created this problem, but he sure has the job of repairing JG's loss.
As a business owner and a 60 fan of the Skins' ,, it is not easy to adjust to the loss of a key employee the class of Joe Gibbs. No wonder he is taking his time, while wishing to provide some security to his current employees.
As for GW , he is much too outspoken and undiplomatic to work within the politics of a front office. Thanks for reading !

- Gibbs, no doubt, should pick the next coach

- Snyder, unfortunately, owns the team. This is capitalism, having nothing to do with a democracy. Snyder owns the team, Snyder can break it.

- The NFL is, after all, a monopolistic club. Snyder does not have to compete with anyone. He owns the franchise. We are allowed to rent space watching.

- Snyder = George Preston Marshall. GPM fired a coach in the middle of a game, I think. Curley Lambeau was practically a founder of the NFL, important enough that Green Bay named a field after him, but he lasted about six months as Redskin coach with Marshall giving "advice".

- Young folks, welcome to 1957!

Er, I'm not terribly excited by the prospect of Danny picking the coach but he does own the team so ... ya know ... that comes with it. And I disagree strongly with the notion that the process should be democratic.

Did anyone suggest it, or merely observe that the boss makes decisions until his decisions start to lose money. In the NFL, a team owner owns a franchise. No one can come into Washington and compete, unless it's Al Davis (moved to LA without league permission).

Snyder will always make money here. He's got us, and we've got him.

Being the boss does not mean that he will make the right decisions. Most often, Snyder hasn't.

That's the point about George Preston Marshall: GPM could do anything he wanted up to the point of fighting the US Department of the Interior, which owned DC Stadium. It took Shirley Povich, Stewart Udall, ED Bennett Williams, and John F. Kennedy to force Marshall to trade for Bobby Mitchell and to consider hiring black players.

By the nature of the NFL, Snyder retains most of that same power.

I think it should be GIbbs all the way.

If not I wish Daniel Snyder could hire a qualified team President.

If not then let Cerrato really do his job without interference by the owner.
Sean Taylor starting free safety Heavens team!
