What about Lane Kiffin?
It sounds like Kiffin might be available next season. I know he has only coached one season and went 4-12, but the Raiders did show improvement under him. I like the idea of a younger hc. The only real potential problem I see here is that his troubles in Oakland are centered around him wanting full controll over his staff. With us already hiring an offensive and defensive coordinator he really wouldn't have that complete controll in DC either. Thoughts?

It is a normal practice to fire a guy before you give him a promotion!

True that. fair question. let me try to help:
Is he a WEAK head coach willing to have someby else pick his coordinators?
Is he willing to give up player acquisitions entirely to the owner and the VP of FO?
Is he a YES man to accept anything the ownwer wants?
No, he is not. Not a chance if he has any dignity and wishes to control his own future.
But for the right amount of money SOMEBODY will. You can be sure of
that.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

First, Lane Kiffin is an idiot, no chance at all.
Second,
Anyone who like me has had an interview where the boss says "well I have to interview some other people but between us you've got the job as long as you keep quiet" knows what this is all about, lots of companies do it, the Redskins as an organization are just being extra carefull not to get in trouble for hiring Williams too quickly and without 'considering' others. Nevertheless Snyder in the end can hire whomever he chooses and in the meantime he can assemble Gregg's staff for him. duh

Boy, you aren't real bright. Kiffin is not an idiot. The one that is an idiot is Al Davis who wants all the glory. Kiffin actually started to get his team headed in the right direction. The minute any coach gets his team to make progress or gets headed in the right direction he either fires them, trades them or asks them to resign.

Now Monte Kiffin the defensive coordinator from the Bucs, I would say heck yea. Monte Kiffin has fielded top ten defenses for ten years straight. Or around that level.
Lane Kiffin on the other hand is far to inexperienced to come into Washington and get respect. THe team would eat him alive. No way would I support Lane Kiffin. Monte Kiffin yes.
