Jim Zorn new OC!
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3214785
It's official, Jim Zorn is the new OC. Al Saunders never had a chance to show what he could do in Washington.
Also, Jason Campbell must learn a new offense... for something like the 5th time in 6 years. Not sure how I feel about this.

Head Coach or OC?
If he is the new OC, then great. Greg will be the HC. My take is Williams and Saunders are not a good tantum. Maybe things will be clearer in a few days. I definetly see what Williams has done for the team. I am not too sure I can say the same for Saunders. We will see soon.

I have no problem with Zorn as a qb coach, but I'm not too sure about him as an OC.
I agree. If this is true - - good lord, we must have the most screwed up front office in the NFL. How do you hire an offensive coordinator without a HC? Vinny and Danny march to their own drummer.

Agreed. But let's wait for the official word. The reports have been pretty screwed up lately. Maybe the hired him, as those "sources" stated, but not as the OC. And if they did, maybe they are already zeroed in on a head coach.
I'm stunned at the moment... I need a drink. I think Zorn will be a good for Campbell's development, but as the OC... I don't know. As I asked a few days ago, does he even have a playbook?

To be honest I didn't want the pats O coordintor. All he showed was the passing game, but our team is not on the pats level and we need the running game more.
Any way this is probably a good move,Al didn't have the chance to show what he can do but we have an OC who has ideas and is a QB coach and a former Shehawks QB,so hopefully JC well be better.
PS:Pretty soon from what I just herd Fassel is named head coach and around 9 PM well be announced........Rex Ryan is next.

Not that we know of. Looking at his bio, the only time that he was an OC and in position to call plays was in 1992-1994 when he was the OC at Utah State. The rest of his NFL and college experience appears to be as a qb coach. I just hope that he doesn't bring the west coast offense with him from Seattle.

They're on NFL Sirius right now totally laughing at the moves of us and the Raiders.
I couldn't be more proud to be a Skins fan three weeks ago, and now it's totally the opposite.

Not sure, but as someone else mentioned here, maybe Williams is to be the head coach but he isn't comfortable with Saunders. If Williams is named HC, I might be okay with this. But if the entire staff is replaced, I'm going to be sick.

That's what's most sickening of all. The laughing. It's like they're the L.A. freakin' Clippers now. And, just like the Clippers, the only people who don't realize how bad it is are the people at the top.

I'm dubious about this announcement. If it's true, I like it. But it begs a lot of questions:
Does Zorn sign on to be an O coordinator not knowing who the head coach will be? I doubt it. So the deal must be in place.
Will the Skins have their hand forced now to announce it? I think its Fassel and Zorn, but Ryan is a no go. Williams won't stay in that situation, so where does Snyder go next for a D coordinator?
Does this mean both Saunders and Breaux are toast?

I guess. I'm more concerned about the offense though. Even if GW isn't retained I think our defense will be fine. We have enough veterans there to be able to transition. Asking JC to learn his 6th offense in 7 years is bad news. To me, keeping continuity was much more important on the offensive side than on defense.

Zorn Deal is True
This is from Jason Reid: We've confirmed an ESPN report that Jim Zorn has been hired as the Redskins' new offensive coordinator even though a head coach has not been named. We reported a couple days ago that Zorn was at the top of Jim Fassel's list of potential offensive coordinators and is very highly regarded by Gregg Williams as well.
The hiring of Zorn likely means that associate head coach -- offense Al Saunders is finished with the team. Owner Daniel Snyder and vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato were privately critical of the offense's performance under Saunders the past two seasons. The two were especially concerned, sources said, about the development of young quarterback Jason Campbell, whose progress is the organization's top priority.
UPDATE II: A source with knowledge of the situation said this evening that Saunders has been told to look for work elsewhere and that he does not expect to return to the team in any capacity.
Word of Zorn's hiring comes a day after Joe Gibbs called Redskins assistant coaches to tell them that the search for his replacement is likely to take several more weeks.
"They haven't told us anything [about Zorn]," one Redskins assistant said. "I heard about it on the radio. I have no idea what it means for us."

This seems like we're in total disarray.
Zorn seems like a good mind, but he's not some young hotshot QB coach. The man is 54 years old and has never called plays in the NFL.
He's been an offensive assistant for 3 seasons, for Utah 92-94.
I just don't know about this, we'll have to see.
