xbox 360

Post by BnGhog »

Anyone have to send back their xbox??

I had to send mine back because of I had three red flashing lights when I turn it on. And the xbox wouldn't do nothing.

I called xbox, suprisingly spoke to a really nice lady who very helpfull. Anyway, they sent me a box via ups to send my xbox to the repair center.

I just sent it off Tuesday and Im wondering how long it will take.

Anyone else had to this??

Also, my damn cat(accually my wifes cat) chewed up my power cord. Not too bad, but there are teeth holes all down the cord. I wraped it up in Electrical tape and then put a some plastic wire loom around it so it don't look so bad. It still works but I want to buy a new one. No one here local sells these. Non of the gaming stores or walmarts or any place sells these cords. Does anyone know where to buy one??

Thanks for any help.

A guy in my unit had his break back in July and got it back in early October. Considering that it can sometimes take 4 weeks for packages to reach their destination from Gtmo, I thought it was a pretty good turnaround time.

I had one of the first pre-order only shipments of the 360. And all my friends have bought one in the couple years since then. And everybody i know including myself has had to send it in for repair. But the new or rebuilt one they send back seems to be good. I sent mine off a week after i got it because it kept freezing up on me and they sent me another one and i havent had any problems with it in those two or so years. Same deal with the PS3 as well.

Mine was one of the first pre-order units as well.

I really don't get time to play it that much. I think that is why it lasted this long.

Mine crashed, but it wasn't the Red-Ring of Death. The Disc Drive failed.

The RRoD is covered by a three year warranty, the drive failing, is not. They wanted $100 to repair it, and said it would take about two months.

I got a new one for Christmas.

The difference between my old one, and my new one were DRAMATIC!

My old one sounded like a jet taking off, and would get real hot to the touch.

My new one is really quiet, and doesn't even get warm.

As for replacement power cable, and AC converter, try Amazon.com

You may only need to replace one or the other (the part that goes to the wall, or the part that goes to your Xbox) but here's the link for both.

Mine failed... It failed the day that Madden 08 dropped. I promptly went and purchased a new one. So now I have two, I got the other one fixed.

If you go to easyfreexbox.com- you will have to sign up for a magazine subscription or two but they will send you a free xbox 360. And for anybody that has their xbox freezing up some times or slowing down. Buy the cooling fans to put on the back of it, it helps a good deal.

Thanks for the link Bob.

And Assasin atm, Have you accually done this?

I've known about the site, and started to do it, but from what I remember you also had to sign up for a credit card, and get a quote for a home loan or something.

Correct me if Im wrong.

Started too but i didnt want a bunch of junk emails. No you dont have to sign up for any of those things you said. You have to choose like 3 things from a huge list of items to sign up for. Yes a credit card and an application for a house loan are a couple of the more extreme things on there but they also have less commital items too. I just didnt want telemarketers or junk mail- if people dont care about that and have a house phone and email account they dont use then its perfect.

The breaking is the main reason i bought a wii. All my friends 360's broke, and my PS2 broke twice. So I just tried to buy something i could actually play games on.

Ive had a couple roomates xboxs get the RRoD.. and what they did is overheated the xbox to repair it if that makes any sense..

what they were told to do is wrap in with towels and turn it on and let it run for a certain amount of time ( dont remember how long) so that it would overheat.. once it does this it will reset itself and generally that is all you need in order to get your xbox working BUT i must say it didnt work for both.. one is now back to normal like nothing was ever wrong with it and the other did have to get sent away

I have heard of other people doing this and it working for them as well.. just an idea..

you can find out how to do that by googling it.. there are instructions
