Roy Williams will wear #21 at ProBowl?

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

Roy Williams will wear #21 at ProBowl?

Post by ANT7088 »

3. I think the nicest gestures of the week belong to Dallas safety Roy Williams and the Redskins. Washington listed the late Sean Taylor as their starting safety for Saturday's playoff game. On the other hand, Williams, who was named to the Pro Bowl as a replacement for Taylor, said he will have something special for the Taylor family in Honolulu, and this is what it is: He'll switch from his uniform number, 31, and wear Taylor's number, 21, for the game. A brilliant idea and nice tribute to the memory of a man who's been an inspiration to players and people in and out of the Washington organization.

Wow. I like the idea, but it begs the question, if Portis wasn't willing to wear #21 since he felt no one could play like Sean, would he be offended at a Cowboy wearing his number?

Just wondering.

I wouldn't particularly care if Portis was upset, this cat is just showing his love for Taylor in his own way. I liked the idea of Portis switching to #21 but understood and respected his decision not to.

RW is just doing this for one game, a game that Taylor should be playing in. He's doing it out of respect and love, I don't see why Portis would have an issue with it.

The only thing that would make it more awesome would be if it was a Skins jersey. But that might be asking a bit much.

I don't see Portis having a problem with it either - however, while I would love to see that 21 Redskins' jersey - I'm not sure it will look to good if Brady starts to burn him a few times because his pass coverage is not what Taylor's was, lets face it

maybe that jersey will inspire a few big hits though and that would be fun - I would love to see Williams put a Taylor like hit on an AFC player (especially a QB) and put that player out of the game - now that might even get my interest to watch this game
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

I think it's quite OK for Williams to do it for an exhibition game.

(As long as he doesn't horse-collar anyone)

I am also strangely okay with it.

I think it's a classy move. He's not saying he IS Sean Taylor, or IS LIKE Sean Taylor, he is simply honoring him by wearing his number.

Not bad for a Puke.

I think its an attention getter on Roy Williams part, look there's still 4 week until the pro bowl and its already a topic, huh I guess it worked, Roy Williams wears 31 and thats the number he should be wearing in the pro bowl.

Well, it didn't take long for someone to take a nice tribute and find the non-existent negative in it.

I dont see a whole lot wrong with it other than the fact its Roy Williams (cowpuke). But we dont have a whole lot of control as redskins fans on who gets picked to take his place. If i had it my way i would have Laron take his place.

I don't see anything wrong with the gesture.

I do however take issue with the fact that a scrub player like Roy Williams gets to go to Hawaii in the first place.

I agree that it is a good gesture, and im fine with it, I'd just rather see one of our guys in there instead.

I think that it is a classy gesture by a Cow-Punk.... I'm not going to speculate whether Roy is doing this for anything other than honoring Sean.

Instead of focusing on why Roy is doing something to pay respect to Sean, how about posting a thread hatin' on the Patriots for pulling Sean's number off their helmets????

really - this guy is a former Miami player who is just doing the right thing IMO - he was selected by due process and happens to wants to do something - nothing wrong with that at all - this is a stupid "award" but as luck would have it - Williams was next on the "list" and wanted to show a little respect - it is a nice gesture from Williams

Williams didn't play at Miami. He played at Oklahoma. I think that makes his gesture even more classy.

 I just completely forgot - I kept thinking what it must have been like with Ed Reed and ..... is that why he has so much trouble with the passing game defensively

I'll disagree with hating on the Pats for pulling ST's number off; it wasn't mandatory for all teams to do it and they chose not too. You can't fault a whole team for that, get mad at the owner if you like.

why get mad at Kraft - the NE pats suck - hopefully the spirit of Taylor will cause these guys to lose - I hope the refs steal the game from them - I want misery and screaming - "we were robbed"

I was just telling Roy there's no need to hate on the Pats players for the number thing, you guys can hate on them for whatever else though. From here on out, I'm rooting for the Pats to take the whole thing cause that's one piece of history I wouldn't mind living through. I get real tired of that '72 Dolphin's dude talking trash and imo the Pats players have shown they don't need to cheat to beat opponents.
