this is simply
completely wrong, and MUST be corrected:
2001:buffalo ranked 7th in the league in passing attempts, and 12th in passing yardage (compared to 26th in rushing attempts and 22nd in rushing yardage).
but apparently that wasn't imbalanced in favor of the pass
enough, because he replaced the offensive coordinator with kevin gilbride, known for coordinating the pass-wacky "Run and Shoot" offense of the early 90's Oilers.
so in
2002:buffalo ranked 3rd in passing attempts, 5th in passing yards (compared to 29th in rushing attempts and 24th in rushing yards).
during that season,
Giants.com's Gilbride bio wrote:the Bills set seven offensive team records, including most net passing yards (3,995). Quarterback Drew Bledsoe set 10 team records. That year, Buffalo had the fifth-best passing offense in the NFL and was 11th overall while averaging 23.7 points, 22.2 first downs, and 349.4 yards per game. That offense featured the franchise’s first 4,000-yard passer in Bledsoe, two 1,200-yard receivers (Eric Moulds and Peerless Price) and a 1,400-yard rusher (Travis Henry).

2003:
the bills 2nd ranked defense (which snagged a ridiculous 30 interceptions) was wasted, as the offense fell victim to the lethal combination of a horrid o-line and the irreconcilable immobility of drew bledsoe, who was sacked a staggering
49 times. yet they still attempted 502 passes to 427 runs.
