Seattle's home winning record not surprising

Post by Cappster »

Seattle is 7-1 at home for a good reason. That reason is they have played bad teams.

The teams Seattle has beaten at home this year:

Bucs- Playoff team so it was a good win
Bengals- terrible
Rams- terrible
49ers- terrible
Bears- terrible
Cardinals- decent
Ravens- terrible

They lost to the saints at home and we are a better team than they were with the way we are playing now. It may be loud in Seattle but it is a lot easier to win when your home schedule has teams with a combined record of 49-79. We will win this game!

And just for the record, we are 4-4 on the road this year against teams with a combined record of 81-47.

I have faith that we're going to beat SEA in convincing fashion. We're going to beat them in a way that's going to make the Pukes worry about playing us.

That being said, you have to respect their home record. Sure, they're beating "easy" times but thats what they should do. A good team is supposed to consistently spank lesser opponents and thats something we haven't done on a consistent basis over the years.

They played one of the easiest schedules in the NFL—by any measure—this year.

But they are still a good team. I'm hoping the Redskins play like the 6th seed, over-achieving underdog that they are. We can win this one.

The average record of their opponents is 7-9

The average record of our opponents is 9-7

10 of their games were versus teams that ended the season with a losing record, and they lost to 3 of those opponents.

Only 5 of our opponents ended with losing records, and we lost to one of them (Buffalo).

We will win this game because of how we play on Saturday AND because of how they play on Saturday.

Nothing that happened in games prior to this, at this staadium, or against similar teams means anything. NOTHING.

Seattle is a very good team and that is a tough place to play when you are the visiting team - but we have been playing well as a team and should continue to do that - they do not match up as well against us offensively or defensively - that is all that matters

This is not going to be decided by any previous schedules or perceptions of who played tougher (or weaker) schedules - each game each week is decided by factors that happen on the field in that game

I never believe in "outside influences" - contests are decided by who is participating not by people who are watching or not even there. This is not baseball or some team that is "managed" by guys who seem to only pay attention to past history - this is the NFL and today is all that counts.

We are going to win this game because, tomorrow, on the field, we will play better than they do

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

To me it's the short work week and the extensive travel to the far Northwest that makes this as tough as extreme homefield advantage. I hate the flight to the West Coast. Takes forever.

There's just no denying that Seattle has a great home field advantage. I'd love to see some stats for false starts in that stadium. Every game I've seen played there, the visiting team gets nailed constantly because they can't hear.

Alot like RFK, right? :)

I'm just so happy to see the Skins back in the playoffs again, especially after all they went through this season. Enjoy it.

I fail to agree with you wholely. I think that the momentum that we've had in the past 4 games WILL help us. It's the confidence that we've beat play-off contending teams in the past month that will keep us on the high that we are currently on. To say that there's no possibility that the momentum can help is ludicrous.

Every time there is a false start and a the beginning of every offensive series they show the stat on false starts. They rank the top 5 teams since 2003. Qwest has about 20 more false starts than the 2nd place team. Each time there is a new one they flash up a new number. The fans have really bought into it. I think even more important than the false starts is what the loudness does to you psychologically and physiologically. I've seen guys like Steve Smith drop balls that they would never drop at home. I've seen all-pro tackles have false starts on 3 straight snaps. It does have an effect. Yes, getting ahead early will help that.

There are only two teams I root for in the NFL. The Skins, and whoever is playing Dallas.

It's okay that we drafted a Landry. After this season, the crygirls will have a new association with that name.

Yeah, I would say we have been consistently spanking teams of all ability levels for the past 5 years at home.

I am also sure the current momentum will help us - please show me where in this post I say that it will not help? To the contrary, I said "we have been playing well as a team and should continue to do that"

If you still think this post is ludicrous then that is your opinion and I respect that BUT otherwise I would appreciate your taking that statement back, thanks
