Hognostications 2007: NFL Week 17 - LAST WEEK

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Allow me to say that THIS week may be the most UNPREDICTABLE of all due in part to the fact that we do not know what teams already in the playoffs may or may not rest any players and for how long. :hmm:

Yeah, I went against my system for a couple of games this week. It would be quite embarrassing if those games wound up making the difference in making the playoffs, or besting a few other particular posters.

I decided to just not consider the "resting players" factor. I tried to take it into account, but it started driving me crazy....

Congratulations to HOOKBASSGA on an incredible season of Hognostications. :hail: You have earned the top seed and a bye week in the Hognostication Bowl III tournament. You will need to sign up for the message board to compete, or maybe you can relay your picks to Boss Hog to retain your anonymity.

As soon as the final stats are updated, I will set the Conferences, the seeding chart, lay out the rules, and the games to be hognosticated in a new thread.

As always, the HB is strictly for bragging rights, it is not a THN promotion, and HOOKBASSGA is this season's champ, whether or not he participates. Good luck to all that made the cut.

I am waiting for the final stats too in order to comment and wrap it up.

Did I make it to the playoffs??? :hmm:

Some people in the running did not appear to post picks; curious.

Congratulations to Welb - 15-1 for week 17  that is a great week when so many teams were just playing out the string.

Congratulations also to HOOKBASSGA - WOW - I am just thrilled to be in the top 10 - this is a tough group

thanks again to everyone for all that you have to do to keep this site and the threads under control

this is THE site for Washington Redskins' fans

HAIL
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

This is a wrap up:

Week 17 results are HERE.

Congratulations to Welb (He was wise enough to pick the Skins this time  ) 15 - 1 is as close as anybody got on any given week this season to a perfect score. Close but not quite PERFECT -yet-.

Congrats to Malicious and SkinsJock. Great showings on a very difficult and unpredictable week. SkinsJock jumped ahead of some of us with this great score.

I am just glad to be in the HOOKBASSGA league at least one week over the ENTIRE season.

Other ESPN "experts":

Mortensen 13-3
Wickersham 13-3
Accuscore (ESPN) 12-4
...................... Redskin in Canada 11 - 5 <<<--- :puke:
Salisbury 11-5
Schlereth 11-5
Hoge 10-6
Jaworski 10-6
Allen 9-7
Golic 6-10

And then we do have a HISTORICAL mark in the FINAL SEASON STANDINGS:

Code: Select all

Pos Poolmeisters          TW   TL  TT   Pct.  TB Avg  Last Wk  Change

  1 HOOKBASSGA           184   56   0   76.7    10.3     1       --

76.7 % Are you kidding me?

As a comparison, the two formar and now Jr Champions in 2005 and 2006 had:

2005 Redskin in Canada 68.4%

2006 Hoss 62.8 %

Question: How good was Mursilis our second place?
Answer: 69.2 % -better- than the two formar Champs. Very impressive, Hogs.

Thanks for participating in this event. It was fun. See you next season.

I wish to take advantage of this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to BossHog for taking care of this BIG JOB. It is hard work to keep everything going EVERY WEEK for 17 weeks. Thanks with best wishes to Texas Hog for his always interesting one and only Official set of Hognosticcations!! Thanks TH!

It does not hurt if some of you join SkinsJock and myself in expressing thanks to BH and TH.

Let the PLAYOFFS begin. Am I in it? 8-[

I think HOOKBASSGA is sending his picks in from the future.

Thanks, and I'm proud to say I never picked against the 'skins in my picks. Now if only that freak HOOKBASSGA had never shown up, I'd have won, and gotten a custom avatar! Curses! Foiled again!!

Congratulations to the champ, HOOKBASSGA!

My humbled congrats to HOOKBASSGA and all those who made the playoffs this year. Though I think I tended to panic a few times this season and tried to be cute with some crazy upsets, my winning percentage wasn't too far off from last year. We have some serious hognosticators on this board.
I did predict that I would leapfrog a certain cup at the end. Don't believe his story about forgetting. I played dirty and lured him into a cupboard with a seductive little shot glass who had some ruffies and well.......I'll just leave it at that.
People may not remember exactly what you did
or what you said....

~BUT~
they will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel.

My GREATEST accomplishment this season is that I am not LOWER-THAN-REDEEMED. #-o

Not much, I know but still.
