Man did this team prove me wrong! In mid-season I thought the 'Skins were headed into the toilet, making the same mistakes over and over. It honestly looks like a totally different team out on the field the last few weeks. Solid defense, efficient offense, good playcalling, motivation, wow. I'm very proud of how this team turned itself around. Now we're headed into the playoffs with a big head of steam!

Bring on Seattle!

I'm sure this morning I feel like many of you, I was despondant after Sean's murder. And it still seems impossible and too real. Then after buffalo, I was nearly sick with sadness that my hero was suddenly playing the role of the old fool on national TV. My how that has changed. But the pride and hope that I feel aren't bullish. Nope, I'm genuinely greatful for the restoration of, well for lack of a better word, joy, in something I care so much for that had suddenly gone so dark. Thank you, Redskins, for making something unforgettable out of something so tragic.

Okay. Now on to some Gibbsville love. How many different QB's has Gibbs taken to the playoffs? Joey T, Schroeder, Williams, Ryp, Mark B, and now Collins. Did he go with Humphries too? Other than Don Shula I can't think of another coach straight away with that kind of record.

Two trips to the playoffs in the last three seasons. Coach, I started to doubt and called for Russ Grimm to be hired to replace you. I apologize! The last four weeks have shown why you're one of the greatest leaders of men and teachers in American sporting history.

Hail to Coach Gibbs and our Redskins! What a ride they're taking us on.
All Hail the Maroon and Black!!!!

Great, great job by the whole team, pulling together to win a spot in the playoffs. What an amazing season, and I have to credit Gibbs for overcoming a lot of adversity, tragedy, and plain bad luck to take this team to the playoffs. I've been critical of Gibbs this season after games like the first Giants game, Buffalo, etc., but when this team was near rock-bottom, he got them going again, and into the playoffs. Brilliant job.

Guys, despite our win, some players need to be accountable for their poor results on the field. *sarcasm follows* For instance, who gave up that 1 rushing yard to Dallas. Perhaps that player should run extra laps or spend a few extra hours in the weight room. Completely unacceptable.

I don't care what the media says about the Skins W, and downplayng the Cowboys interest in the game. It was a Redskins- Cowboys game and these games ALWAYS count. Do you think for a second that the cowgirls didn't want to spoil the Skins chances to make it to the playoffs??????? Do you think real cowboys fans are OK with the loss? Only think the will be ablo to think off the next two weeks is "Skins kicked our behinds, left and right"

How far into the offseason is the "1 yd rushing" going to take us? added that Clinton was the first guy to rush for over 100 yds against them in 17 games....

HOW SWEET IT IS.... Happy new year everybody!!

HaiL,

For some reason, that loss never stuck in my craw as one that would bug me for a long time. Sure, 35 years takes much -- if not all -- of the sting from it but it never seemed like one of those games that was destined to fall the Redskins' way. (Jerry Smith wide open in the end zone but Kilmer's pass hits the still-on-the-goal-line goalpost)

But I sure as heck don't want to have that happen twice.

We have alot of momentum. It certainly is not good for the Cowboys how they lost this Sunday. Caldwell looked good today. Portis and Moss really stepped up huge.

Collins has been the MVP these past games no doubt about it.
Sean Taylor starting free safety Heavens team!

Congrats on the win and the playoff birth Skins fans. I didn't think you would pull it off against Dallas but the team showed up. Good luck in the playoffs...

The schedule won't work out for a regular-season rematch. It would have to be in the playoffs ;) .

All I can say is this....you can NEVER count out a Joe Gibbs team in December!! It may not always get where they want to go, but a December game that is coached by Joe Gibbs is almost guaranteed to be meaningful, competitive, and played with as much passion and intensity as humanly possible! The old-timers that were around for Gibbs first tenure know all about both his record in December, and the passion and focus of his players that is guaranteed!!!
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

Sometime during the fourth quarter, after a typical 1st and 10 run that got us about 2-3 yards, I turned to my dad and said: "Wow, Portis just outrushed the entire Cowboys offense on that one play."

I loved watch Julius Jones get all pissy after he was gang tackled for another loss. He wanted a facemask call and I applaud the refs for taking the "yeah, because that's why you lost 4 yards on that play" approach.

well said - also, I felt the game was pretty well managed by the refs - they seemed to try and do as good a job as they could and got the calls right for a change

HOWEVER - I have for the most part enjoyed Aikman's analysis but yesterday he seemed to be too obvious - still a puke I guess - I must admit to thanking Arrington a few times yesterday for that hit he put on Aikman back when
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

 That's pretty funny.

I saw this morning that Portis, for the season, is 1st in attempts, 4th in TD's scored and 6th in yards. That ain't too shabby.

BTW, where's the crow being served...

Criticized for signing Collins when we already had a pricey Brunell. How did that work out?

Criticized for making Collins the back-up when Brunell had been here and was previously the starter. How did that work out?

Criticized for drafting Landry when we already had Sean Taylor. How did that work out?

Criticized for not drafting a d-lineman because our d-line sucks. Held the Girls to 1 yard rushing. Yeah, they suck. Maybe Gregg Williams did know what he was doing and did know what he already had in Carter, Montgomery, etc.

Where are all the experts now?

Great win and a great finish to the season. Gibbs now has 2 playoff appearances in 4 years. The nay-sayers can go to hell.

Not that I particulary care but run defense has never really been a consistent issue... It's the lack of a consistent pass rush and to be quite honest, there is still vast amounts of room for improvement in that area.

I saw this sign posted once, it said, 'blasting zone ahead'. Wow... shouldn't that read: 'Road Closed'? - Brian Regan

There's always room for improvement in every area on every team. But I don't think they've been as bad as many predicted. Carter does have 10.5 sacks on the season. Wilson, Montgomery and Evans have played admirably as well. The unit as a whole has not been all that bad, but I agree there is always room for improvement.

I was actually thinking of you when I made the "crow" comment. I respect what you said in your thread in the Smack forum. Not many folks have the guts to admit they might have been wrong. I was more so talking about the media and the so called experts eating some crow and admitting they didn't know squat.

Thanks.

Carter is doing fine but the key word is CONSISTENT pressure. We don't have that. We aren't there, it's that simple and it needs to be addressed. Our defense will become elite with a consistent rush like that of the Giants and Pukes, we have a better secondary than both of them even withoiut Taylor.

I see this a STRONG possibility with the young linemen we're using these days. Bolstering with one elite somewhere in the mix, it will exponentially improve our passrush IMO. We have a good core, we need THAT GUY to put them over the top.
...any given Sunday....
