Whens Portis gonna make a 70-50 Yard long run?

Post by por-tiz2skins »

Hes been injured and the OL also and due to Taylor death might be the reason but his long yard TD runs with us had decreased every year now.

04-61 yarder
05-42 yarder
06-32 yarder
07-19 yarder

I mean hes a stud and where starting to use him a lil more right now but he needs to get a long run. When do you guys think he'll make a big one?.I think maybe next year a nice 56 yarder or in the 50s against the Ravens .

But where starting to trow to him which is good and should use him more in trowing in the endzone for TD cause we havent trown a TD to him for 3 years now.But he is playing good now and I expected a 100 yard performance against the Cowboys but if not than 80 yards and 1 TD would be still good or even a caught TD pass.

2007 or 2008
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Portis is not the home run back that he was known to be in Denver. I think there are a number of reasons for this, but none of them worry me too much.

He is as dangerous as ever taking passes out of the backfield. His pass blocking, if this is even possible, seems to have improved in the last few years. He has formed himself into the "work-horse" back that Joe Gibbs' offense needed. His patience and vision, in my opinion, has gotten better each season in Washington.

Okay, so we're not running stretch plays that let him cut-back and slash for 60+ yards. And this year has been an especially tough one for generating long runs. And physically he's not the same player as when he was 20.

But we might still see a 60+ yard run this year. I don't doubt that he's still capable of it.

I disagree. I don't see the same cutback ability or explosiveness in Portis that I remember from his early days here and from highlight reels from his Denver days. In my opinion, Betts is our best running back and exploding through a hole that the offensive line creates, and that wasn't the case a few years ago. That's just my speculation, though.

I respectfully disagree. I think Bettis hits the hole harder than Portis (these days) but I don't think he has the elusiveness or speed to break the long ones. While Portis does seem to be slowed somewhat, I still think he has the ability to break the long ones.

I agree. . .I wasn't calling Betts a home-run hitter. Sorry if that's what came across.

Well if you look at the highlights in 04-05 games when he was healthy I saw alot of times he could of broke one but every time he was about to he kind tripped or the players arms barely reaches Portis leg.We dont do alot of sweep runs but thats where Portis does at best.

Portis is the same person when healthy and the Denver OL during does years was awesome more awesome than our OL in 05 and 06.

No way is Portis the same back as he was when he was 20.

I remember the second year he was here. He purposely gained twenty pounds knowing the kind of system that is run in Washington. He adapted to the system in Washington.

He has given his all for the Redskins. I doubt he can run sixty yarders anymore. I still think he can pick up a first down when we need one though.

Well I hope Portis can lose that 20 pounds cause we need him faster on running .

He already has. He's pretty close to the same weight he was in denver now. Difference is he can't cut like he used to. In Denver I saw hime spin defenders around and make them look silly. I can't remember the last time I saw clinton do that here.

Last week on his TD run... or a couple of weeks ago when he took a swing pass for 50+ yards
