"Oh, they'll listen because Joe Gibbs will make them listen - just his presence in the room.....if you're upbeat and you're a hard worker, your players will be. Toughness is contagious." - Joe Bugel
That was the dumbest crap I have ever seen. It is so stupid i cannot stop laughing.......Skins IMO opinion somewhere in the 20-25 range and Cowboys in 10-15 RANGE.....LOL
Haha, the Redskins in the 20-25 range? That seems a little low for a playoff team next season...
The fact the that Cowboys cracked the top ten is laughable, with Drew Henson/Quincy Carter/Chad Hutchinson at QB, and probably some rookie RB next season the Cowboys are going to truly make this a rebuilding decade.
The Cowboys are kind of like the Celtics, they played WAY over their heads during the season and now they messed up their draft pick!
So you think the redskins #2 ranking is not high at all. The skins may have gotten better in offense, but there will be learining curve. The skins Defense will not be as good as it was last year....come on now lets start getting honest with ourselves.
The Skins have superstars at nearly every offensive position, a former pro bowl QB and a young standout QB, a probowl running back, two 1,000 yard recievers (one is a pro bowler) two star tackles, a star guard (Randy Thomas) and damn good role players to fill out the rest of the offense. Then we have the defense, which will be better than last year, by a lot.
The Skins are looking up, like a team with purpose, what direction are the Cowboys looking in? They seem to have very little direction so far IMO.
Huh? I mean yes I don't believe they belong at number 2, maybe in the 10 - 15 range with your boys.... but the D was 25th ranked last year.... and we've made improvements on the line, at LB (although, yes we still need a MLB, but Mitchell ain't much worse than Trotter), ok we lost Bailey, but Springs won't be much of a loss if he can stay healthy.... Plus, Williams knows how to get a Defense to play for him..... We've got to atleast improve from the 25th ranked..... I'd say they'll be ranked in the 10-15 range in D at the end of next year.....

Ok yeah good ex pro-bowl qb who is on the way down hill, he will only be here 2 years. You have a good rb , but will his 202lb body be able to withstand the wear and tear Gibbs is gonna give him and will he withstand the nfc east defense. Also you line is not all that....Fiore probally wont play and you guys have center issues. ...Coles is the only thing to brag about in your WR core ....Garderner dont scare no one. Humm you guys still dont have a TE that scares anyone.
Lets see you guys only have 3 picks compared to our 5.....so they only sure thing is your first round pick.....your other 2 picks wont be starters and probally will only be special team players. You only have about 3 mill left compared to our 10 mill. Our defense is way better then yours.
Gambit, the object isn't to "scare" people... in fact, I hope we go into every game with the opponent unafraid... I want them on their heels!
Ramsey will get most of the snaps, with Brunell teaching him the ropes, Fiore doesn't need to play we have Jones and Dockery, probably more line depth than any team in football... center issues? Yeah, there's gonna be a problem with Raymer and Friedman...
You bring up a good point about Portis though... what makes you think a great coach like Gibbs would give Portis more than he can handle? Why would he need to with Coles and Gardner... But Gardner isn't "scary" right? He's got great size and good speed and he's a fine compliment to Coles. I mean, Gardner has a 1,000 yard season... how many years has it been since a Cowboys player had 1,000 yards recieving?
We've got good blocking tight ends, and we could very well have Kellen Winslow Jr next week, now HE would be one to scare people.
Wow, I didn't realize the Cowboys had TWO more draft picks than us, I guess we should just give up the season now! not, with a sure thing for the 5th overall we have Joe Gibbs and the most experienced staff in professional football history... I'll take our chances on them making their picks count for more than yours...

How could the defense possibly be any worse? Yes, I think that the #2 rating is high, but to say that the defense will be worse....thats absurd.

1,000 yard recievers and no playoffs, the skins really dont have any depth and they dont have any depth on there squad from rounds 3 and below that they have picked.
My guess is that there is some pro-Redskins bias on the website--or this group wants to have been "the first" in the media to call the Redskins as the underdog contenders of '04. Either way, I don't think that anyone (despite going over and over our roster with positive comments) could argue that the Skins will be a top 3 team in '04 without first admiting that saying so is a huge risk. (Playoffs are certainly not unrealistic).
What caused me to think that the website was biased pro-Redskin was that I noticed in this assessment of our team is that our perceived weaknesses in the secondary and along the defensive line don't come into play at all. I know, I know, what I just said will warrant a hundred "But Greg Williams. . ." comments--and trust me, I think he will do a good job of getting our guys to finally play at their potential. But to be realistic one has to be a bit skeptical at the impeccability of our defense. Not a bad site (thanks for the link, FaninTX), but a little biased, at best.
At least it was a refreshing couple of articles that gave me a break from the usual ESPN Fatsquereli crap I put myself through.

I think the big difference all Skins fans are counting on this season is coaching. Last year there were tons of blown assignments on both sides of the ball. The team clearly wasn't playing to its potential. Also, I think the schedule is pretty favorable.
I see 10-6 as a possibility, but the #3 power reanking is definitely too high right now.
all i see is a bunch of bah-bah-bah.i'am normally one not to say redskins this redskins that but in this case... we are as of right now just as good as the boys are!!thats just from hiring gibbs.#1 you talk about our wideouts who do the boys have one on the way downhill the other pretty much a nobody then after that who???? good thing you have three QBs and all three add up to one.god help you if you think carter is good.do you even have a running back.i'am the first to say our defense is not that good but that was last year. we have a new attacking "D"this year so we will have to see just how much our d improves.our o-line we be improved with the pass happy coach out the door, and someone who knows what it takes to win games-"RUNNING THE BALL" so back to the bah- bah-bah all i have left to say is (sept.27th cowboys at redskins)REDSKINZ4EVER!!!
Gambit... You are my all time favorite Cowboys fan, and until now I had never really seen you post anything that irritated me.
To say that the Skins have no depth is about the dumbest comment one can make. They have two QB's that would start for three outta every four teams in the league, including your Cowboys. You also said that Brunell is way over the hill er going downhill or something, but Parcells would rather have him right now than any crappy signal caller he's got. If it weren't for Joe Gibbs meeting with him before any teams contacted the Jagz, the Boyz would have been all over trying to trade for him.
The Redskins have three RB's who have been starters for extended periods of time before including a back with back-to-back 1500 yard seasons. The fullback position is in fine shape, as another battle will ensue for the starting job. There are two starting calliber players, one of whom will sit on the bench. The WR position is stacked, as there are two 1000 yard wide outs, one of which is in the top 5 or 6 in the entire league. The third option was one of the game's best in the redzone last year, and the number four is either going to be a 2nd round pick of last year (Taylor Jacobs) or a terrific threat to stretch the field (James Thrash).
I could care less if we have any 3rd rounders of lower that we drafted make impacts, it doesn't really matter to me. I'd rather get a great FA that has proven he can play, then some random from a small school in a late round. And last time I check, McCants (from Delaware State)fits that billing nicely.
Obviously, I LOVE the thinking on that site. Now, whether or not it's realistic....
But, if there's any validity to it, seven Redskins games will be played against teams ranked 22nd to 31st. Including teams 28, 30, 31 and 32. That's seven games against the bottom 10, and five against the top 10. With the remaining three to be played against 11, 12 & 16.
So, with the Skins ranked #3, that means two losses to the Eagles and that's it! 14-2. Can we just call that a done deal and start the season in the play-offs?
My car doesn't go fast, but if you're important, people will wait for you.
I don't think the ranking is that high. Think about it. WE HAVE A HALL OF FAME COACH FOR A HEAD COACH. Buges and WIlliams were both head coaches until coming to the Redskins and taking a demotion to do what they did best!!!!!!!!!!!
Buges coached one of the best and most famous offensive lines in history.
Williams was the one who built the Titan's defense from the groung up.
They took a demotion just to make this team win.
The talent the Redskins have is strong everywhere but left guard and in the defensive line. You can't have superstars at every position. But our defense under Williams will be in the top ten this year. Marvin lewis didn't have good pass rushers and he took that defense to the top five. He was so desperate for pass rushers that he even moved LaVar to the defensive end on some pass rushing plays. But they still finished at NUMBER 5!!!!!!!!!!!
kkryan wrote:Gambit, please quit with the 202 lb back going to get hurt. Tony Dorsett was only 185 and he was quite durable.
barry sanders was pretty good at 200 lbs. to say the least.
Yes, you can't say that our running game is going to be poor because Portis will get hurt....at least give him a chance to make the start of the season! We could say that your girls aren't going to be any good this season because your star player will probably get hurt, you know, your star player, ummm...whatsisname....er....no, sorry, can't think of one....
Face it you only have one posistion better than us on offense.(tight end).
I would take 3 good character guys like Coles, Gardner and McCants over Me Shawn, Terry "Drug user" Glenn and Antonio "Cry baby " Bryant.
Yeah Brunnell is getting older. But as you get older you get wiser. And he will teach Ramsey everything he knows.
At RB you have absolutley no room to talk. You have the worst starting RB in the NFL. And by the way 205 pounds is by know means small. Oh yeah the ggreatest runningback of all time (Walter Payton) did not weigh that much.
Our O line coach is the best ever. And we have 3 pro bowl caliber players. Our Center may not be there but he is very smart and gets few penalties.
Your O line will have a major whole when Larry Allen is gone.
Lets talk about D. You have the better D line. But we have the better linebackers.
And in the secondary. Our corners are better. And everyone right now is saying that Sean Taylor will be better than Roy Williams. If this happens our secondary is better too.
