"NFL on Fox" AKA "Cowboys TV Network"

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

"NFL on Fox" AKA "Cowboys TV Network"

Post by absinthe1023 »

I've been listening to Ache-Man and his little buddy Joe openly cheer for the Cowboys for what seems like an eternity now, but today's steaming pile really was nauseating.

First, we had the repetitive, gratuitous shots of Jessica Simpson in the owner's box wearing a Romo jersey and looking entirely clueless. Fortunately, these petered out after halftime as Mr. Smiley's QB rating sank lower and lower.

Then, we were forced to hear about all of the "terrible injuries" the Cowboys were suffering, and how this HAD to be affecting their performance today...of course, the only player of any significance to be injured was Andre Gurode, and even with this injury the Cowboys remain one of the healthiest teams in recent memory this late in the season.

The coup-de-grace was undoubtedly Troy's continual mentioning of Romo's phantom thumb injury. He mentioned it after every bad pass/INT (of which there were many) in the second half, even though Romo never left the game or received treatment/bandaging of the thumb on the sidelines.

I'm sure this broadcast team gets great ratings in Texas and in prisons throughout the country, but any other football fan in search of decent, non-partisan announcers must've wanted to throw something through the TV today.....

Rant over.

Well, in Jessica's defense, her purpose in life does not require appreciable intellect. It seems that she is actually perfect for the role God intended...

Additionally, her Tony Hromo shirt was, at least, festooned liberally in pink, making it the perfect representation of her... um... man (I suppose).

They're already preparing excuses for the Pies playoff failure to come.

My favorite was Joe Buck's comment that the Eagles had "second and forever to go" when it was 2nd and 13. . .and then the Eagles converted it.

That announcing yesterday was pretty bad, and I'm usually one to stick up for Aikman. I think Buck's style might be rubbing off on him a little too much.

In fact, I hope FOX does us all a favor and gets rid of Buck. I've heard him wrongly predict one too many penalties and one too many instant replay reviews. The guy wants to be a psychic, but he really ends up looking foolish. Aikman would be far better suited with a play-by-play guy who didn't want to talk so much.

"Phantom Thumb Injury" is deadly accurate.

If it was any kind of serious, Brad Johnson is a more than capable back-up.

I know it didn't exactly help our cause, but I can't help it...I love to see the Cowboys lose and it really doesn't matter who does the honors!

Here's the status of the Cowboy players who suffered all of the "gruesome injuries" in last week's game (from ESPN):

Center Andre Gurode (knee) and backup safety Pat Watkins (ankle) are not likely to play Saturday, but might be back for the finale in Washington. Defensive end Chris Canty (knee) and tight end Anthony Fasano (concussion) practiced and are expected to play.

The same article had this to say about Romo's poor little thumb, even though there's no definable injury on any imaging study. I guess they've got to set the scene and build in an excuse if/when Romo has another multi-interception day this week:

Romo didn't speak to reporters Tuesday, but he was seen after practice with his right hand wrapped with ice and a stimulation machine.

Naturally, there were several paragraphs regarding the Cowboys' amazing ability to stick together in the midst of so much misfortune. They easily would've beaten any team in the league last week if not for these key injuries. What heart, what determination.....I won't go on.

ESPN should just get it over with and add the star to their official logo.

I've suffered through many games with that broadcast team. To be honest Troy doesn't bother me as much as Joe Buck. Buck goes out of his way to kiss up to Troy and it's sickening.

I have to give Aikman credit yesterday for emphasizing that the 'Skins were dominating the game even with Dallas's starters still in the lineup.
Even though Aikman dropped the "Dallas is the best team ever" shtick (even if temporarily), his little wannabe-buddy Joe steadfastly kept up the charade. I don't know how many times he mentioned that the Cowboys "had nothing to play for", and were "missing key players".....all without any mention of the 'Skins starters who were missing.

Joe Buck is definitely the problem here. He needs to go NOW....

Whats even worse is the pregame show on ESPN. Emmit and Keyshawn, and they used to have Parcells. It turns into cowboy drool hour. Emmit is pathetic on the show, he doesn't need to be on tv.

Do what I do. don't watch ESPN. I used to love their pregame show. Now it is a Cowturd love fest. Also I listen to the Radio. They are much better. And call the game. Not try to predict what the calls the refs are gonna make.
