Let Campbell heal. Let him continue his learning when he is fully recovered. Meanwhile, Collins might be sharp enough to go the rest of the way.

Incidentally, Collins might be about 36, but he doesn't have that many miles on him. Has not taken the hits that Brunell has, even though they are about the same age. Maybe it's like buying a '97 Accord with only 10,000 miles, all highway driving. Still has some life.

...and I will disagree with you that JC has been getting better. He has played much better games earlier in the year and lately he just hasn't shown me much at all - fumbles, INTs, etc.

He also had a running game in the earlier part of the year. Lately, with the notable exception of the Jets game, it was "Campbell, go do everything for this offense. Thanks!" How many young QBs are going to thrive in Dallas or in Tampa Bay, when everyone knows they're throwing the ball? He put up 300 yards or more in both games....but threw killer interceptions. It happens...especially against good defenses and good corners. And especially with young quarterbacks who have to shoulder the burden of an offense completely on themselves.

All we know about Collins is he positively shredded the Bears for a half of football. We also saw things in that game:

1. Short field following turnovers. How many times did JC have the ball on the 20 following a turnover?
2. No stupid mistakes like penalties or dropped passes.
3. Better playcalling. It wasn't run-run-pass...

Could all of those have contributed? Maybe?

IF Campbell is marginally healthy IMO we should rest him for the rest of the season even if we win the next 2 games and Collins is struggling. I am not yet convinced that Campbell is adjusting to the speed of the NFL game. I do however think he has great potential and should be given every opportunity to get well, work this off season on his timing and in the film room an try to see why he seems to take so long reading what the defenses are doing.

A lot depends on how hurt he really is. We should not take any chances with this kid. Campbell is our best chance for a really good QB - I want him ready and fit for next season and then we need 2 other QBs - 1 experienced back-up (NOT Collins or Brunell = way too old) and 1 we can groom for the future.
