Versatility is Key on Offense

Post by truskinsfan18 »

We all know that Saunders has a huge playbook. When a defense knows what kind of things you like to do on offense, they tend to counter your offense with a defense suited to slow down your attack. But if you can run a wide range of plays, that keeps the defense on its toes.

With Colllins at quarterback, any play in Saunders playbook is a possibility. Also, with his exterme knowledge of the playbook he can determine where the open guy will be on many plays. He is physically limited, but keeping the defense on its toes can lead to points. As long as he doesn't make costly turnovers we should be alright.

We won in spite of Brunell.

I actually have confidence in Todd Collins Superstar.

I remember collins sucking in preseason 06... anybody remember?
There are only two teams I root for in the NFL. The Skins, and whoever is playing Dallas.

It's okay that we drafted a Landry. After this season, the crygirls will have a new association with that name.

Brunell couldn't find an open man over ten yards away if his life depended on it. Brunell got up to the playoff like I got us to the playoffs--
check that. Oh year, Brunell did hand off to Portis virtually every play for five games. I'll give him that. Collins has already accomplished more in our playoff drive than Brunell did.

Uh, wasn't that the running game and the Defense that got the skins in the playoffs in '05? Why is Brunell and playoffs in the same sentence. I recall the skins setting a record with the LEAST amount of yards from scrimmage with a win in the playoffs vs Tampa.

Well, didn't Santana Moss have his best season in '05? Here we go again, I guess he threw the ball to himself huh? (Damn, didn't I type this before about Brunell)? JC and TC are waaaaay better than Brunell, sure, I'll say that, but there's no need to dog Brunell in the process who is the 3rd QB on our present depth chart.

Jerks. (For your posts, not you guys personally)

Your memory serves you well. However I remember wondering if he sucked because the OL was not blocking correctly and whether the WR were running the right routes. He threw alot of balls that either the WR was not looking for or prepared for or the WR was not in the area. The more I watched the more I felt that the play he called the WR were not on page with him and the balls looked to be thrown away or intercepted.

Watching how Betts came out of the back field and simply looked over his right shoulder and as soon as he looked the ball was there looked good. It looked like the timing was on par. Now why have we not had that with JC I don't know. JC seems more the Gibbs type of QB then the Saunders type. JC likes to take the 5-7 step drop and see what's available to him. Saunders offence is more about 3-5 step drops and getting the ball out.

I like what JC can do but I have been wondering why it seems he waites for the WR to be open before throwing. The ball needs to be out before the WR makes his cut/break. I belive we will see more of Al's offense....however we may see more interseptions also. Especially if the WR do not know the plays well enough.

It will be nice to see an attacking offense for a change instead of a ball control offense.
