Collins is for real. We'll beat the Gints

Post by crazyhorse1 »

I don't see any reason to believe Collins won't have another great game against the Giants. Our receivers are in pretty good shape and why wouldn't he be able to find them; and why would they drop such a soft ball when its throws to the right spot? Collins is a system quarterback, and a good one, which he's proved several times now.
I don't think he was especially accurate or hot last week, just beautifully functional. Further, I don't think the ugly gints are going to have an easy time preparing for a guy who knows the whole playbook.
Also going for us is the possible reality that the coaches won't try to sit on leads anymore this season.
If they do, however, we'll lose, and I'll go out of my mind as usual.

We must get pay back from the Giants. I don't care how we win, but we have to beat these guys.

Not to get into playoffs, not just to get a "w" But to get them back. They came into our house and stole one. We've got to get it back.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

One issue to think about is if the Bills and Bears were hitting our QBs often and regularly, the Giants (and their excellent DEs) will be killing Collins.

At least he's had a lot of time off, so his body isn't worn out at all.

It's all in the timing - when you recognize the blitz (as most QBs do) you get rid of the ball before they get to you - Campbell has not been very adept at that, in case you have not noticed - most QBs will have the ball in the air as soon as they get to the third step - Cambell is still making reads

Collins looked like the blocking was better but it was because he gets rid of the ball because he knows where everyone is meant to be.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

We win if we play with an aggressive philosophy AGAIN (only for the third time this season keeping in mind Lions and Bears).

We win if the OL does its job at least most of the time.

We win if we grow a running game.

We win if we do not drop the interceptions Eli is going to give us.

We will win!!! HTTR

We win if we score touchdowns and not kick field goals.

Preferrably 9 or 10.

Well...when he got hit by Anderson, it was because he didn't step up into the pocket. I also think Buges ripped the o-line a new one at halftime, because the passblocking WAS much better.

That and they probably felt awful for letting Jason get creamed like he did.

Very hard to imagine that we'll beat NY. I think it will take a big effort from the defense more than Collins to make that happen.

Thanks for addressing the Collins/blocking issue. I was trying to figure out this morning why it seemed like Collins had so much more time in the pocket than JC normally did this season. There were at least two or three plays where I noticed Collins just standing there in the pocket looking around. He looked like freaking Tom Brady or something!

Do you think this is really because he knows the offense better? A friend suggested to me that they were keeping one more blocker in for Collins than they have been for Campbell. Any truth to that?

True, except that the Giants are able to generate a rush without having to blitz. Samuels has been garbage lately and Heyer is going to be going up against Strahan so it is not going to be easy for our oline.

Collins has looked sharp every time he has stepped onto the field for the Skins.

In pre-season, he looked better that JC and Brunell combined. Now he has just proven that he still has alot of fight in him..... HAIL

I saw something odd Thurs, I saw that when collins came in, after that disaster fumble, there was a serious spark, he was playing awesome.

He has a long ball brunell doesn't have, had awesome touch on his passes, you could feel the energy he brought. He won that game for us, no ?, not springs, not D, it was collins. Portis, for 2 games now is HORRIBLE. I don't care how bad the oline is, 2.0 ypcarry is a joke? Portis is not consistent and I point to him for that, it isn't all the lines fault.

So, let see if this Collins is for real, not like other teams haven't had backups take them deep (see garcia 06 philly).

No if you looked all of the bears game in the first half the OL craked up intill it did a lil better than thats when portis had 3 yards a carry. But it is infact the OL fault .

I don't know about his long ball, but he certainly does have more touch on his passes than JC. In Al's system, which no one knows better than Collins, the QB throws to a spot, and the receiver has to be going there, or there will be trouble. The problem I see is that his balls take all day to reach the receiver. If defenses actually game plan against Collins, we may have a pick-fest on our hands.

Didn't Gibbs say at the beginning of the season that Collins would be the backup to whoever started? If JC is out Brunell should start unless Gibbs changed his mind. I hope that has changed though. I believe that Collins gives us the better chance of winning, but Collins starting isn't consistent with what Gibbs decided at the seasons start.

JC seems to be the future. He seems to have the skilz nessasary to perform at a high level eventualluy.

His biggest issues issues right now are his release (which is way to slow), his acuracy, touch and getting air under the long ball.

He needs to work on all these things. Unfortunately the best (only) place to do it is in games so there will still be some rough spots next season.

Granted it was only one game, but right now Collins certainly seems more polished than JC. Not that I think he is the long term answer.

I have to like the Skins chances going fwd. The O should do better under Collins. As long as the D keeps playing the way they have been those extra few points should translate into wins.

Collins is the 2nd qb.. we won't see Brunell this year, period. As for "everytime" Collins is on the field so far, you can stop that right now. He looked great in the second half of the Bears game and he looked pretty darn good in pre-season. I do remember last year he looked like garbage in pre-season, you guys remember that? So as much as I like Collins (the way he played last Thursday) lets not say he'll be our saviour just yet. To beat the Gnats our defense has to step up and our O-Line has to do the best job they've done all year. The first game we were killing the Gnats until we just let them come back in the game (and we were pretty darn healthy). We CAN stop both Eli and Jacobs, so what other threat is there? Our special team is better than there's and Rock is scheduled to have a run back..mark my words on that, I'm like Joestradamus!!! LOL Vikings a fraud? With the youngbuck QB they got and a dynamic RB duo in Peterson/Taylor, they look more the real deal to me than the Gnats to be honest. Gnats next, so lets not waste our time on the Vikings just yet.

I've always said that Collins was legit. One of the few times I've been right. :) I"m sincerely grateful that TC has kept MB04 at bay. For that, he has paid his price of admission.

Collins did look accurate, but there sure is a difference in how long the ball takes to get there compared to JC... every time he throws one of those out routes I'm afraid it's going the other way...

I agree with Riggo. Perterson is good, but Vikings aren't that good. Before Peterson started playing the Vikings weren't good at all. And the young QB completely stunk it up at the begining of the season. The Peterson, Taylor Duo is the only thing keeping him from stinking it up now. If we stop the Running game we will win that game, Jackson isn't good enough to beat us by himself.

And The Gints. Well, TC could be just what the DR. ordered. His advanage is his knowlege of this system. Its second nature to him. He can read the D, make his checks, line changes, and even change the entire play better and quicker than JC.

And those things are great to have against a blitz happy team. Thats exactly what the Bears did in the red zone when, TC read it and made that quick throw to Betts for the easy TD.

I think the position we are in right now, we have a pretty good chance to beat them both. I does worry me a little, that the bears hadn't planed for TC and it could be a different game when the Gmen plan for him.

But that goes back to the system. I think TC is more of a system guy. The system has a design and plan. And that system is designed to find the weakness in the D. All Designed well, and proven system should work out better for the Skins. I kind of think that's part of JCs learning curve. He has confidence in him self, but maybe he has more confidence in himself being able to make plays than he has confidence in the system. (Im not saying I don't think he believes in the system, just that he may be more inclined to try to hike the ball and make something happen, rather than thinking about the system and what he sees from reading the D and putting the system to use to make something happen .)
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.
