Who was going to tell that we would win tonight after such a short week, the funeral, the trip to Miami and all the adversity?
I am proud of our guys. Hester went nowhere too.

Sucks to lose JC, possibly for the year. This could hurt his development as he was starting to play better.
Collins did an amazing job. Coming in cold and going 15-20 with 2 td's was more than any of use could have hoped for. He doesn't have outstanding physical tools but his knowledge of the system was obvious.
Good job by the defense, especially Springs and his 2 picks. The inability of the front four almost burned us again though, as they completed some deep balls against the blitz.
The only thing that I can really complain about is the offensive line. Once again they were atrocious. And this time there were real consequences as it resulted in JC getting knocked out of the game. Earlier in the season I just assumed that next year, once everyone was healthy, that the line would be fine. But now I don't think that that's the case. It's not just Fabini, Wade, and Heyer playing poorly. It's also Samuels (who was awful today), Kendall, and Rabach playing badly. I think that they are going to have to start rebuilding this unit during the offseason.

It was good to finally get a win...but besides Springs,
ey and Collins we looked terrible out there. The injuries really hurt us today, but there is no way we're making the playoffs if we play like that again.

ANybody notice the difference in playcalling once Todd Collins was put in? Is this a philosophical change or does Al Saunders lack the confidence in Campbell to call the game the same way?

Man it just feels good to finally see our TEAM play to win and finish off the opponent.

Collins knows the system better so it's not a surprise that Al would let him do more things. This was JC's first year as a starter and it's obvious that he was still learning the system.

I think that Saunders knows that Collins can run every single play in every single formation in that playbook. All 700 pages. As for cambell, I'm sure that he will be able to at some point but due to the lack of time in the system, I'm sure of his ability to execute the complete playbook is somewhat limited.

That was incredibly encouraging to me. Maybe the old man noticed that aggressive play can pay off. If we had been doing that all season., we'd be heading for the playoffs.
That said, game ball to Collins. That was a stunning exhibition of how knowledge of a system can make up for a lack of physical talent. It would not surprise me to see him do a great job the rest of the year.
It's hard not to love

Night and day. I don't know if the difference is caused by the factor you suggest though. Whatever, if Saunders has been holding back, he should have his butt kicked.
However, my guess is just that Collins knows the system better and can spot open receivers better than Campbell can at this point. Who knows.

I think it is a little of both. The plays were more agressive, but Todd also made the correct reads. I am sold on JC, he has all of the physical tools as well as the leadership qualities of a Starter/Star QB. He needs to work on ball security and the mid range touch that Todd showed today. Good win. I needed this, the Team needed this, I think we all needed this win.

A good win. Sorry to see JC get hurt.Collins did a great job of running the offense. Defensively they played with alot of heart.
For the first time in a 4 weeks (3 1/2)I won't have the anger, dissapointment, the what if, and sorrow to start my week. So this is how it feels?!

I don't think the play calling was different, I just think Todds experience was the difference. He makes the reads quicker and knows the plays prolly better than Saunders.

Most of those long completions they had great coverage. The cacthes were great by Olsen and Berrian.
Also, it seems like Collins had all day to throw and when Campbell is in there he never has time. That made a big difference but I wonder why the protection was so good after JC went down. Either way, great win. Good playing both on D and O. I loved Portis having over 86 yards receviing but I can't believe that is his career high. We need to get more rushing yards!

Issue: Conservative play calling. Response: Gone.
Issue: Quick read and release by the QB. Response: Done.
Issue: Open receivers not thrown the ball to. Response: Open receivers targeted.
Issue: Red Zone disaster. Response: Touchdowns.
Issue: Dropped balls. Response: Catches.
Issue: Sacks against us: Response: NONE.
Issue: Fumbles and interceptions by the QB. Response: NONE.
It is WAY TOO EARLY to tell whether this trend may continue or not but ... Is the list above not a comprehensive account of our main illnesses this season?
Same personnel, same criticised players and coaches. The more I follow the Redskins the less I understand them.

For all the criticism that Al Saunders and Joe Gibbs have received for the combined disaster on offense so far, I take my hat off to them if they continue to call the next games with the same philosophy. A good passing and aggressive offense will open lanes for Clinton too.

I have a question. In the next couple of games with Collins as the starter, do we call him a fumbler if he continues to get the ball knocked out from behind like last night?
Reason I ask is that you had an experience QB in the game with a quicker release and a step up in the pocket but yet he still got the ball knocked out of his hands. Was the problem with JC really him not feeling the pocket or was it Samuels not getting help on the edges with speed rushers and they are just making plays????
Because the same could be said last night about the Collins fumble that has been said about JC's fumbles....

Losing JC really sucks. But if there's one positive in all of this, in my opinion, I think it will be extremely beneficial for Campbell to sit back and watch Todd run the offense for a few weeks.
JC can watch him live at the games and will study the film afterwards. I believe JC can learn a lot from this. Collins knows the system and knows what Saunders expects from the offense. I think this could be a good thing for Campbell's maturation.
