WORST SEASON EVER!!

Post by rdsknfan89 »

I dont know what else could poss happen to us, we lose jansen, carlos. Our best player gets shot while at home protecting his family, and now we lose our qb for the yr... How will Jc recover from this, i dont even know how serious it is but... WHat else can happen?? In my years as a fan this is one of the worst... Might as well hope for a good draft now, and a new staff...

worse seasons than one having our best player (now and with the potential in franchise history) murdered :hmm:
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

No there haven't. It doesn't get any worse than having a player die.

Hasn't been confirmed that Jason is lost for the year - may or may not be, but that is a little premature.

do we know if he is out of the year for sure? if not, is that the most likely scenario? and if he is out for the year, does anyone know if that is the type of injury to keep him from being ready for camp next year?

Gibbs said he doesn't have to be out for the year but it depends on the xrays/mri's tomorrow. Knee cap.

Did you guys totally ignore when the announcers were talkin about CP going up to JC's dad after JC's knee cap was POPPED back in...

Yah he's definitely out for the year...he dodged a bullet against Pitsburg in the preseason, but it looks like he's out for the year now..

I only got to watch the game online and they didn't show the hit but I would agree that from a career standpoint and an organization standpoint, he should clean up anything thats wrong and make him stand on the sideline, be at every practice and watch. Thats almost as good as playing or practicing.

Let me rephrase. There have been much worse seasons for the Washington Redskins football team on the field. I was not considering Sean Taylor in the equation only because that was a non-football related, off-the-field incident. I am in no way making light of the loss of Sean Taylor to the Redskins but the loss of Sean Taylor to the Redskins is somewhere down the list of the loss to Pedro Taylor, the loss to Jackie Garcia, the loss to Sean's daughter Jackie, the loss to Sean's other family, the loss to Sean's true friends like Buck Ortega. Like it or not, the loss to the Washington Redskins is on the back of page two of this list.

If I thought the thread was referring to non-football related issues as making this "the worst season ever" I would have answered the question differently. We do already have numerous threads dedicated to Sean Taylor already, so this thread struck me as either entirely football related or entirely superfluous to the existing threads.

My 2 cents

NO! There hasn't!

No way, No how!
Words can't express the loss I feel in my heart.

We will always remember you.

Sean Taylor was known for his hard hits.

His hardest hit will always be the day that he was taken from us.

That this is how you were addressing the point was pretty clear and posting that you were trivializing ST's senseless murder somehow were actually pretty cheap shots.

He's only out for 4-6 weeks. He'll be ready for the start of next year and recover from this fine.

This has hands down been the worst season that I can remember. Not necessarily in terms of on the field play, but in terms of heartache.

Look at the timeline:

Hopeful season
Lose a couple of starters
Start 4-2
Injuries continue to pile up
Start hiring guys off the street
Go 5-3
Lose even more starters to injury
5-5 with Sean Taylor out two weeks
Sean Taylor Killed
Lose to Buffalo in last 8 seconds on Sean's Tribut game
Go to Sean's Funeral
Comeback and play a game with one day prep.
Lose Jason for the season
Still somehow, battered and bruised, we are in contention for a wild card bid.

This has been the worst season that I can remember. The guys are playing well. They are fighting thier guts out. But every step forward seems to be at the loss of one of our players.

I've never been so upset about a season. I don't mean angry. Just sad, and frustrated.

It's why I'm willing to give Gibbs a mulligan for this season. There is no way in hell a man as classy as Gibbs deserves to have this season under his watch. It's unbelievable.

Yeah to me everything seems to be against the Skins. I think there is a ditubance in the Force, the skins force that is.

I mean the two time outs Gibbs call is an example IMO. A lot of guys here act like Gibbs is accually supose to sit down and study the rule book, I mean the guy don't play madden Like a lot of us. And Im sure he has the kind of time on his hands to spend a couple of weeks reading all the rules and studing them.

But, besides that, You think for a min, who's dumber, Gibbs for making the "T" with his hand OR the stupid ref, that ran out on the field to stop the play. Then the they realize they cant do that and add a penalty. If the rule is you can't call the time out, then why does a ref stop the play, unless he didn't know, and the other refs had tell him. Otherwise, he would have ingnored the "T" and just told Gibbs he couldn't do that. But no, these things happen to the skins.

Its just bad luck for the skins. Either injurys, bad calls(both by the refs or play calling, or just the ball rolls the wrong way. There hasn't been many (If any) breaks for the skins all season
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

The rule is that it's illegal to call two consecutive TO to ice a kicker, punishable by a 15yd unsportsmanlike foul.... people break rules all the time, that's why there are PENALTIES for them.....

And this IS a horrible season for injuries, but no mulligan for JG. The playcalling has been crappy. Time management has been crappy. I'd say that conditioning was kinda crappy as well....

Go back and watch it again. The ref ran out like he had no clue and stoped the play. Then the other refs crowed around him to say you can't do that.

Well there's actually a REASON.

The rule used to be that the refs would do exactly what you're suggesting... just ignore the request for a second time out... but then the New England Patriots started taking advantage of that and FAKING that they were calling a second time out just to try and throw off the kicking team, so the league instituted the rule that calling a second time out would result in a delay of game.

Pretty cut and dried.

Now... I believe that Joe has stated that he ASKED the ref if he could call another timeout and told that he could... so I don't know what the protocol for how the ref answers that question is, but I do know that it's not relevant...

... a head coach should know the rules of the game.... even if it means 'sitting down and studying the rule book'. Otherwise, it might cost you a game.

It was a brain fart of massive proportions by Joe - no way around it.

But what's done is done.

I think to say that the call cost us the game is gratuitous anyway... the kicker made it on the first attempt and had made 16 in a row... it's nothing more than faith and hope that allow someone to see him as categorically MISSING it (were it not for the penalty). There's every reason to believe that he would have made it... all the penalty did was make it a little easier.

Bad mistake.

Made worse by the fact that the team put themselves in the kind of position where one bad mistake could 'cost them' the game.

My 2 cents

Well said - I really just want emphasize that this was just a terrible mistake made at a stage in a very significant game - that was just a horrible mistake BUT that is what it was - just a mistake - we all make them - IT DID NOT COST US THE GAME - scoring 3 field goals at the begining when we should have scored 1 and maybe 2 TDs cost us the game - all the other mistakes by our players and coaches cost us the game

Gibbs knows that rule - he was major distracted and literally grasping at straws - get over it - we have to look forward - that is not something that will ever happen again.

let's move on people - Joe Gibbs is not mistake free but he is our coach and IMO will be for a little longer, thank God
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Thanks Boss.

That makes sense now that we know the why. As ususal some stupid coach, abusing the rules to get an advanage.

I knew there had to be a reason he didn't just ignore the timeout, Of course I just assumed that it was because the ref was anti-skin.

I don't think it cost us the game either.

And hey I AM OVER IT!, I was just trying to say that no matter what way you look at it, luck is not often on the side of the Skins.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.
