Draft Day Party?
Anyone going to the Draft Day Party at FedEx...is this worth my time...or is it The Danny's version of the worlds biggest ball of twine (i.e. a tourist/money trap)? Anyone been before? Appreciate any input.

I already have my invite printed. I'm hoping to have my Hogs.net T-shirt by then. Won't be late for work, since I fully expect the Redskins to be pickin' someone by 2 p.m.
They just better not trade up. If they do, something on Danny's nice little club level is gettin busted up real good.
But if it's the same as it was the last time I was there (when they picked P-Ram) they'll have dollar dogs and sodas.

I'm sorry....I'm one of the most loyal Redskin fans on this earth...but Draft Day....that's the most boring day on the calendar. I surely don't want to try to make a party out of it. Jake has it on the tv alllllll dayyyyyyy long....alllllll weekendddddd long....and I can't stand it !!!!!!!

I'm going with a group... These guys go every year. There's apparently cheap beer and food believe it or not and it's a good time. They try to get you on the merchandise but you gotta expect that. I agree that draft day is usually pretty boring but the trophy's, joe gibbs, cheap beer. Sounds good to me!

They used to keep the trophies in the Store at the Stadium. We got our pics in front of them there. Wonder how come they don't keep them there anymore.....security, I guess.
You guys have fun...be careful driving though with all that cheap beer being passed around.

I have never been...

I am a Hard core skin fan. Ever since they came up with them North Carolina Panthers I do not get to see the Redskins play on TV like it use to be. I was born in South Hill Virginia, But moved down here to South Carolina as a Navy brat when I was a little child. Been here ever since. I have relatives in Morningside, Maryland. But any way what I want to ask is about this invitation to the Draft Party 2004. I printed myself a invitation, When I filled it out I was asked how many people were to come with me? I put 4 but it might only be 3. Anyway, It doesn`t say it any where on the ticket about how many it covers. Does that mean its only for me?

Welcome to the family, Spirithunter.
I was wondering about that "invitation" myself; however, I can only assume that invitation will get you (and your party) in the door.
If you have any doubts, I suppose you could print up invitations for each person in your group.

I would print an invitation for each person you take, that way they can't turn you away.
FedEx Field is visible from 495, so you really only need to take 95N for about 3.5 states and it turns into 495N. Exit 15A - 16B will dump you off on Stadium Drive I think. Follow the signs and it'll all work out as there are a couple of routes you can take. Can somebody back me up on this or fix my errors?
I don't know anything about hotels around there though. Sorry.

They did these invitations for training camp last year too. I work fairly close and went there on my lunch break a lot. Most of the time I didn't even bring the invitation. If it's the same, they will just have a trashcan or box that you put them in for and no one will even ask you how many people it covers. That being said, it's not training camp, so maybe it will be different.

I've been the last couple of years. For those who have not seen the club level and up close on the field it is worth it. It's mostly wandering around and such eating and drinking. They have players signing autographs in the suite area but get there before it starts to get any chance of seeing the players. Head for the suite elevators and try to get upstairs. Very nice! Coach will probably make an appearance also. And of course all the tvs have the draft on.
There is a hotel just down Arena drive in the business park that is nice. Visiting players stay there. It's a Marriot or such. It is at the corner of Rt202 and McCormick drive - first right and at the end. It's about two miles from FedEx field.
Enjoy!

To you guys that have been there before. I'm a little leary of taking my son. He's 2. The site says fun for all ages, but we've been to a few games on the club level and if I couldn't walk through it to get to our seats I wouldn't have taken him. Adult only kind of attitude and stuff. Anyone else taking kids or been there??
Thanks.
Hopefully I can take him, he loves anything Redskins.

It's 17B -- the one that goes West. Here's a map on the Redskins site. But don't be confused by the directions. On game day, they want to funnel everyone onto Arena Drive.
http://www.redskins.com/fedexfield/directions.jsp
But the ramps off the Beltway (I-95) to Arena Drive are only open on game day.
The map shows it all pretty clearly. From the north, take 17B (Landover Road). Get over to the left fairly quickly -- you want to be in the two left-hand lanes to turn left at the first light.
That will take you straight to the stadium. You may have to drive 270 degrees on the road that circles FedEx to get to the part of the lot they'll be using on Saturday.
Got that???
