Given Sean Taylor's past, I'm sorry to say this, but it's likely this was just the last event in a chain of events involving Taylor. He kept a machete at his bedside for protection. It's not like he had no idea someone could be looking for him. This doesn't excuse the crime. Far from it. May Christ be with the Taylor family.

I'm sorry, but you didn't know him, and it doesn't appear that you are up to date whatsoever on what was going on in his life, if those are your conclusions.

Speculate if you must, but it would be better to let Redskins fans grieve and have some peace. It was bad enough seeing the way the media covered his injury yesterday. That's the best way you can show some kindness. Thanks.

I'm COMPLETELY with you here, bud. I thought the media coverage was highly inappropriate. Heck, they came close to saying that it was expected. I didn't mean disrespect. Even if my assumptions are correct, Taylor is still an innocent victim.
Shut the hell up.

Hello all. I'm a Cowboys fan but just wanted to let you all know how saddened I was by Sean's passing. By all accounts he had changed things around and was happy. He didn't deserve this, but he's in a better place now. Strength and peace to his family, friends, teammates and fans.

Rest in peace, Sean.

I didn't see much media coverage durring the day yesterday, only after 6pm. And everything I saw after 6 was on Comcast. I woke up to the terrible news this morning and watched FOX most of the morning. I still thought they were handling it sort of well, until they showed a clip from his DIU arrest in 2005. No class...

This is just devastating. I have to admit I had tears in my eyes when I heard the news on the tv today.

I hope the police quickly locate the idiots responsible for this.

To say that those responsible for this are "idiots" is being too kind. Those that are responsible for this cowardly act are wothless pieces of garbage who will live with this for the rest of their lives (which hopefully isn't that long). They are the lowest form of scum imagineable. To take a young mans life from his father, his daughter, his friends, his family, is just despicable and shows how utterly cowardly these people are. The only saving grace that I feel is that those who are responsible for this heinous crime must look at themselves in the mirror each day. What they see when they do that must be pure torture, for all they see is worthless garbage, pure scum, and the most cowardly human beings that grace this earth. They are nothing but low life scum who don't deserve to live.
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

That's assuming they have a conscience. I'm not sure they do. But I hope they will come to truly realize the gravity of their crime b/c no person should be able to live happily after committing such a heinous crime.
After every game, every play & every highlight, I'll always remember #21. RIP Sean.

I'm with ya, Chris. Not even sure how the team can emotionally pull together to play a game this weekend. Portis wearing #21 in honor of Sean is a cool idea. I'm sure there will be some kind of vigil and tribute at Fed Ex Field on Sunday. Wish I could be there.

Please if this has already been brought up I aplogize I am getting ready for work and don't have the time to read thru every post.

I as a fan would not be upset if the skins forfeit this game and just take some time to get over this emotionally, I don't play for the team and I feel like I lost a family member. I couldn't imagine what its like for those that where with him day in and day out. I definately wouldn't be mad if Portis sat this week because from everything I have ever read said he and Sean were really close.

Regardlessly my prayers are with Seans family and the team I support them in whatever they decide to do this week.

I'm tired of reading the stories that keep talking about Sean Taylor's life off the field or the fact that he once spit on a guy. They are blowing up a few minor incidents into making him some kind of thug. Now, I thought the one thing they couldn't take away from him was his play on the field... But I just read this:

"On the field, Taylor's play was often erratic. Assistant coach Gregg Williams frequently called Taylor the best athlete he'd ever coached, but nearly every big play was mitigated by a blown assignment. "

What??????????!!!!!!!!!! That is patently false.

This is the worse Redskin news I've heard in my life. All America RB Ernie Davis died before his rookie season began (of cancer) about fifty years ago, which also devastated me, but this news hits even harder--
possibly because there's so much evil in it.

ST was a miracle of creation the like of which will not soon come again.
That such a man can be wiped out by a low life with a gun, the principle of that, is just pure evil and hard to live with. My personal ironic happening is that I got the news ST had been shot shorty after seeing the movie, No Country for Old Man, which powefully addresses the point made here.

I am an old man and do feel that a new senselessness is coming into the world, a new kind of amoral and subhuman force that just can't be stopped. Here's an inexact quote from the movie: "Once they stop saying Ma'am and Sir, it all goes from there."

I believe that.
