What's with the Dallas love fest?

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

What's with the Dallas love fest?

Post by grampi »

No matter what I'm watching or listening to, I'm constantly being bombarded with Dallas Cowboys crap. Every time I turn on the TV, I see yet another stupid commercial featuring Dallas. Every time I listen to ESPN on my XM radio they're talking about Dallas. Every time I open a catalog that sells football gear, they're featuring Dallas stuff. Don't these idiots realize there are 31 other teams in the NFL and not even close to everyone is a Dallas fan? Why does everyone insist upon ramming Dallas down everyone else's throats? I'm damn sick of it and I demand equal exposure between all NFL teams. Dallas may be self proclimed as America's team, but if they actually were, they'd be playing for the nation's capitol.

Thats what they were doing when the cowboys were winning superbowls in the 90's. It was weird because of where I was living at the time nobody was a cowboy fan, then when they won the superbowl against the bills people rushed out and bought cowboy gear.

Is this really the case or is it just that Dallas is all you're hearing/seeing? I hear/see a lot about Dallas, New England, Green Bay, and less significantly, Colts, Giants, Steelers, even the Browns. What do you expect from BSPN anyways? Listen to Fox Sports Radio because they're not half the parasites that BSPN is.

There's no such thing as equal exposure between all NFL teams unless you go get it yourself. The media is only gonna give you headlines and right now, that's the Pats, Cowboys, Packers, etc. And the bottom line is the Cowboys have a huge fan base across the entire continent. When they're doing well, they're automatic ratings and the media is always gonna go with what sells papers and gets ratings.

Sports media is supposed to be neutral. They aren't supposed to cover one team more than others. This cheats fans of other teams out of their right to their team's news. Media outlets that favor certain teams are frickin' sell-outs!

I know that you are kidding, right? I mean, you cannot really believe this, can you????? ROTFALMAO
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Since when was sports journalism about covering every average Joe player the same amount as the superstars? That would be ridiculous.

I don't see why the Dallas love fest should surprise or offend anyone. Besides, it will just make their downfall sweeter.

Try living right in between Dallas and Houston sometime !
We do get far more media from Dallas than the Texans, and to be honest it makes me sick. I do feel a lot better though knowing the cowbelles have not beaten my Saints in regular season play in about a century ! LOL
Suck on that Phillips.

Anyone who lives outside of Dallas a calls himself a Cowboys fan is a douche.

I'd say 90% of Cowboys fans are just people who had no team to root for and latch onto the Cowboys whenever they are good because they are the generic team like the Yankees in baseball or Lakers in basketball.

I'd rather root for a losing Redskins team for the rest of my life than be a "fan" like that.

Are you serious? This might be one of the most shallow opinions I've ever seen or heard. Amazing.

First of all, I'm not from Virginia... I was born/raised in Los Angeles. I got a Cowboys starter jacket as a gift at age 7 and have been a fan ever since. Your "truth" is as shallow as it gets. Fans come from everywhere, from all walks of life, and for all kinds of different reasons not related to geographical location.

And according to your own statement, unless y'all "live" in the District of Columbia, you are all "douches".

Or does your retard philosophy only apply to Cowboys fans?

You said it was a jersey not a jacket before. :hmm:

Anyway, I have to ask again: What Kind of self-respecting Redskins fan gives their son Dallas apparel?

I was born and raised in Virginia. My family has Redskins season tickets. I have a dog named LaVar for crying out loud. Just because I moved to Vegas after I finished college doesn't mean I care any less about the Skins. One of the first things I did when I got here was get DirecTV so I could get the Ticket and watch my boys every week.

You got a Cowboys starter jacket when you were a kid huh? Big deal. And you're from LA? Let me guess you're a Lakers fan too?

I can't stand these pathetic fans that reach for any reason to root for the top teams. It's despicable.

I'll go down with the ship with my team every year before I do this kindof crap.

First.. Grampi, this is the second thread you started about the media and the Cowboys. Give it a rest man..LOL

As for BeeGee.. Los Angeles??? Poor dude, Rams/Raiders.. what would you guys do in his situation??? Hell, what if he became a football fan when neither of those teams were there??? LMAO!!!.. Me personally, I'd have rooted for the next closest team to my hometown, maybe Chargers or San Fran? (I don't know the geographical make up of Cali) As for the starter jacket thing (he must be around my age), I can understand where he's coming from because I use to root for the Raiders because of NWA.

I am still trying to figure out how one becomes a Cowboys fan living in LA?
When I was 7 years old, Moms bought me Roger Staubach jersey, my older brother a Jack Lambert jersey, and my younger brother a "Big ole 65" Dave Butz Skins jersey.

To this day, I'm a diehard Cowboys fan, and they are insane Steelers and Redskins fans respectively.

I got the whole package, J. #12 Jersey, the starter jacket (which my son wears to school to this day - enough to make daddy cry), and the gangsta cowboys pajama set with matching slippers. My bruhz got the same for their respective inferior teams (wink). Needless to say, I was the lucky one. As far as moms goes, as I said before, I think God led her to place the blue and silver in my hand. Redskin fan or not, she understood her obligation to the lord and to her child. As a matter of fact, she'll be purchasing my NFL package next year as payment for betting me that the Cowboys wouldn't win the NFC East. This has been a good season in many ways, for me.

Here's a question and a comment.

When did announcers start calling players by their first names?

When I was growning up it was Starr this and Meredith that. It was Bradshaw this and Staubach that. It was even Montana this and Elway that. Then all of a sudden it was Troy, Emmit, and Michael ... and ya know what, I never recall hearing Darell or Art. In the very same games it was Troy, Emmit, Michael, Green, and Monk.

Watch, in the last game it'll be Tony, Terrell, and Jason against Collins, Moss, and Cooley.

Not that I hate the Cowboys or anything.
