Why not Eli Manning?

Post by BryenJ1982 »

I like the idea of having Eli Manning as a redskin. This guy is a class act and comes from a great quaterbacking backround. Joe Gibbs has made it know that he doesn't want anyone that doesn't want to be a redskin. I just have this feeling that the only reason why there is talk about Eli is because Patrick Ramsey and his agent Sexton are still B*@#!ing and moaning about Brunnell. If they want to do that, fine...but the redskins don't need people on there team that complain, especially in a leadership role like the QB position. It only takes one person to spread a cancer.

where do we come up with the cap space to sign a top qb prospect? he'll demand at least a 15-16 mil signing bonus.
not saying i don't like him, but its not reality.

The reason I wouldn't go after Eli Manning, though he may be a great QB some day, is because another QB is not what this team needs. We have Brunell...and Ramsey. Both are quality QBs. What we NEED is help at safety, TE, DL, etc. Let someone else have him!

We already have RAMSEY starting and Brunnell as a backup. Eli Manning is yet another QB who will eat up more nonexistant cap room.

I wouldnt be so sure that patrick ramsey should be starting. If brunell is healthy he will be the starter. He has what it takes NOW to take us to the next level and from the way it looks this offseason we want to win now

I haven't heard Patrick Ramsey say one negative thing. The only reason why this is continuing to be an issue is because the media won't let it die. Patrick hasn't said one negative thing in public, though his agent has, but you will still see writers saying "Disgruntled QB Patrick Ramsey." If P-Ram really was throwing a tantrum, then Gibbs would get rid of him.

Patrick Ramsey is our franchise QB.

I'd be surprised, and kind of disappointed if Joe Gibbs wants to be the best “NOW” and wants to “take us to the next level” immediately and not be getting ready for the future. Brunnell is old. He still has some years left in him, but Ramsey has showed if his O-Line is good, he can do very well. Patrick Ramsey has a ton years still in him and can steer the boat as long as Gibbs invests time and energy into him.

Even if all the stars were perfectly aligned, cap space allowed for a 20 Mil signing, and Eli Manning were availible and begging to be signed, Gibbs would still address his more pressing needs first. Why? Because, with Gibbs, it's all about the system. A great QB is merely frosting on the cake for Gibbs. All JG needs is a solid, journeyman QB, and he'll win playoff games, and win the Super Bowl a few more times. He won't take Manning because it is a lusury he doesn't need, especially with one of the best vets (Brunell) and a probable future monster (Ramsey) already in the stable.

Skins need TE, DT, DE, S help first.

Manning? Just fugedaboudit.

WHY WOULD WE GET MANNING?!~??!?!

whats the point of getting him??? hes good, but that HEAVILY HEAVILY based on his UPSIDE... which is good, but not a SURE bet...

this is like the Samuels rumor... fluff, bs...Gibbs is lookin for FIRST experience, then to fill NEEDS...

i think its all misdirection, so we can take the attention of ST. and grab him at #5
