Who Will be The Redskins coach next year?

Post by Charm City Sports »

I WROTE THIS IN NOVEMBER, YOU SHOULD READ SOME OF THE RESONSES........

I think Cowher will take the Panthers job, as he would be able to coach and be home. I still think he would be Danny boy's first choice, and who knows? Maybe Bill would take the job if he got enough $$$$!

Singletary will replace Lovie Smith.

Russ Grimm will get passed over again.

I think it will be Greg Williams. I don't think he will do any better, but this is who I think the job will go to.

Stupid's probably too harsh. But as we discussed in the other Gibbs thread, Snyder's not firing him, and Gibbs has given no indication he's leaving, so obviously he's going to be the coach next year. Maybe the poll should be who do you WANT to be the coach next year?

If Joe Gibbs wants to be the head coach next year, then he will be. He isn't about to be fired.

I'm increasingly beginning to feel that he may not be in DC for the duration of his contract this time around, because mediocrity doesn't interest him at all. But his honour knows few bounds, and if he feels he owes it to the Redskins to still be there, and thinks he can do the job as well as anybody else, then he'll stick around.

What's stupid about it, is why would we want a new coach after going through what we have gone through in the past 15 years? We have been the laughingstock of pro football. And now we have stability and proven leadership, now we want to get rid of our Hall of Fame coach because of failed player execution, player sustained injuries and stubborn, miscalculated defensive schemes.

We haven't even finished out the season yet and there are already talks of getting ready of Gibbs.

Allow me to remind people that there were serious talks of firing Bill Cowher as well in Pittsburgh, before he won a SB.

Becareful, of what you ask for...Joe Gibbs is great and he is a proven winner...I will continue to keep the faith for my beloved Redskins.

Oh I get it..... It's stupid to look for a new coach but it's brilliant to stay with the one we got whose shown on numerous occassions that he doesn't have "It" anymore. Whose record since he has come back is below .500 and slowly dropping lower. Whose had enough time and a checkbook to get his "groceries" only to put half of them on the shelf (Al Saunders) and use the other half on making 'air-puddin' and 'wind-sauce" (nothing).....

To quote the dudes from the Guiness Stout commercials.......

Russ Grimm is a shoe-in for the job.

With Cower and the other former coaches who have had success in other places, there will always comparisons and a lot of pressure.

Grimm starts with a very clean slate. He´s young and disciplined, two things this team really needs.

Why don't we get BB from NE. Or Tony Dungy from the Colts.

I know, I Know...

We hire BB from NE to be the D coordinator and Tony to be O coordinator and have Bill Cowher as head coach.

Yeah, now that sounds more like Danny.

You guys are dreaming.

Come on guys. None of these coaches will be our coach. And Bill Cowher? He's retired. He's done with coaching. He don't miss it (yet) and aint planning on coming back. AND if he were I don't think he would go anyplace other than back to the Steelers. He's not after money, he has that history with the Steelers. HE'S NOT GOING TO COACH ANY TEAM. Did you guys see him greating his old team last week. He has far too much love for the Steelers to coach any other team. Much like Gibbs, do you think he would have taken the Miami Coaching job when they were looking. NO he wouldn't.

And more than any other reasons,
GIBBS WILL BE HERE NEXT YEAR. He has a contract he gave his word, and he stands by his word. And Dan won't fire him. So bottom line is HE WILL BE HERE. I will talk more about this next year. Nothing will change this year.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

With all due respect to Joe Gibbs....I sure would like to see Cowher energy on that sideline. When redskins are not doing well Gibbs pouts....Cowher starts screaming and throwing things. The way I look at it is if I am screaming and throwing things then so should the coach.

Dig in fellow hogsters...... I'm not sure it's time for a change just yet. I'm sure we'll play this to death. We have gone in agony with lesser coaches.. Why not with a living legend.

I do not think the post is as stupid as Iceman thinks and yes it has been discussed many times. Gibbs will not be fired and I do not think he will leave before the end of his 5 year commitment. I think it is unfortunate for the Redskins if Gibbs stays. To date, he has shown that this is not and will not be Gibbs I by the end of the 5th year without major, major retooling. That is the same as starting out with a new Head Coach, in my book. I feel certain that he will leave at the end of the 5th year as he will have fulfilled his committment. His staying only adds another year before a new Head Coach is needed. The one thing you can say for Spurrier, he stepped aside when it was apparent that he was failing.

I do not agree that Gibbs has brought stability. Every year there has been some turmoil within the Redskins, some player(s) have been in the dog house for something. Yes he has proven leadership but he has not been able to succeed in todays NFL and I do not believe he will either.

If a new coach were to be needed, I would hope that it is Russ Grimm. Not because he was a Redskin but because he has demonstrated that he is as ready for the job as any of the other candidates out there. A plus is that he fully understands Redskins football.

I am not thrilled about either Greg Williams or Al Saunders taking over as the Head Coach. Both have had the opportunity before and both failed miserable. Although there is the point that one has to fail before one can learn.

Seeing as how this isn't one, sure ... all it asks is who we think the head coach will be next year, a perfectly legitimate question

I honestly don't even know why this question was asked; Gibbs will coach out his contract, he's Gibbs for Christ sake.

Well, given recent events, I vote for Ruvell Martin's head ... it's obviously calm under pressure.

If Cowher came here, it'd only be for the money. Jimmy Johnson in Miami.

No mercenary coach, thank you.

What's stupid about it?

1) Charlotte is barely closer to his house then DC

2) No way in Houston Gibbs quits after 4 years of a 5 year contract unless he wins a Super Bowl this year. I am guaranteeing we're going to put a hatting on Dallas and scoring 35 points, but I'm not even predicting a Super Bowl with half a team AND a quarterback with 1 year experience.
