The costumes are back

Evidently, Portis dressed up again today for his press conference. I guess he's feeling good again...

thats good, im glad he's confident once again
There are only two teams I root for in the NFL. The Skins, and whoever is playing Dallas.

It's okay that we drafted a Landry. After this season, the crygirls will have a new association with that name.

Leave the costumes in the closet.
You had one good game, Clinton.

7th in the league with ONE 100 yard rushing game. That might indicate that teams are winning with passing offenses. According to NFL.com, every team with a winning record is in the top half of the league in passing except the Giants and the Redskins.

On the other hand, Minnesota and Oakland are in the top five in rushing.
Does anyone other than me see a glaring problem here?

I am thrilled to see the costumes back. About this time two years ago, Clinton and the rest of the gang dressed up and we went on a five game win streak to get to the playoffs. Although, our backs are not up against the wall this time around, we still need a strong push from our leaders to get the team going in the direction to make the playoffs and dominate. I love the new "if you are having fun, you are going to win" attitude. It's what launched us two years ago into a win streak that cemented our playoff spot. I am feeling a big win coming up this Sunday against a derailed Eagles team. I am making the prediction now....if we obliterate Philly, say like: 30-7...I smell a QB change in Philly. D-nabb is not happy, he's not healthy, and he's not a leader. I hope CHOO-CHOO shows up and dances circles around the Eagles...GO SKINS!!!

I for one wouldn't be shocked if CP rushed for 100+ yards in every game left.

I would, since this team has no deep threat and opposing defenses will be stacking eight or nine in the box until the Redskins prove they can beat teams downfield.

The costumes raises the moral in the locker room and I'm all for it. This is for the team, not because he thinks his stuff doesn’t stink. And unless he comes out dressed in a shirt that says "Im the greatest RB of all time" as his costume, it has nothing to do with his performance.
It's just all for fun.

As much as I'd like to agree with you, I can't. First of all, have you ever been inside the Redskins locker room with the team while C.P. was wearing one of these costumes? I haven't. Therefore, I have no idea how any of the players or the coaching staff respond to dress-up doll Clinton.
You're assuming it raises morale. I'm assuming nothing.

You must not have seen the time half the offense dress up with him. And the other half was all standing outside laughing and watching.

I found a link.

http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=14145

"A few weeks later, with Portis in the midst of a touchdown slump, he came wearing a white wig and virtual reality glasses. It seemed the intent was to divert reporters from peppering him with questions about his slump.

The following Sunday? He scored three touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers. "

You think he's using it as a form of self promotion, could be a small part of it, but maybe he's just trying to break a long one for a TD and help get our O going.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

Which then creates the opportunity to open up the deep threat.

The last time I truly felt good about this team was after the last time CP started dressing up. I'm glad to see a little swagger. My guts telling me the Eagles game's a lock....

I can't speak for how the team as a whole views it, but I remember in 2005 for one of the skits he had 4 or 5 team mates dress up with him and they all seemed to be having fun with it. So there are some at least who don't think it's a big deal. I think the most important thing to take from all of this is that Portis seems to be back to his old self. Against the Jets he ran with more confidence than he has since 2005 and I think that this can only be a positive for us.

Yeh... the glaring problem is you're depending on stats on the wrong side of the ball to tell the story.
Cowboys 7- Redskins 6 (All we needed was 2 minutes of the 60)
Cowboys 17 - Redskins 0 (Way to NOT show up for the 100th anniversary)

Clinton Portis, in a good mood after Sunday's 196-yard rushing game against the Jets, showed up Thursday dressed as a dance instructor named "Choo-Choo," wearing a wig and an orange shirt with sequined and ruffled red, orange and yellow sleeves.

"It's a message for the Washington Redskins to go out there and have fun," Portis said.

:thump:

Cellar dwelling teams are amongst the rushing leaders.
Winning teams are amongst the passing leaders.
Washington is amongst the rushing leaders at #9.
Washington is not amongst the passing leaders at #26.
The glaring problem is teams need a passing game.
Washington doesn't have a passing game.

GSPODS it seems to me that you’re really being a Grouch; everybody is frustrated with how the team has been performing. Clinton dressing up has nothing to do with him thinking he is the best running back alive after one game or other statistics. It is just a way to lessen the tension in the locker room; they are taking a verbal beating from the fans and media Monday through Saturday. This is a way to turn the media away from asking the same question they have already answered. He is just trying to help guys relax and have fun on Sundays. It is a way to help lessen the worries.
