Official stay positive thread!

Post by Cappster »

If you are not positive, this is not the thread for you! I am happy about the win yesterday! I am happy that our team is 5-3! I am happy that we have a chance to make the playoffs!

I will stay positive until we either cannot mathematically make the playoffs or we get knocked out of the playoffs (IF either happen) . Yes, the team could play better but a lot of us could also do our job better. The key thing is they are winning for the most part and taking one step closer to a playoff berth. Just be happy that you aren't a Jets fan suffering through a 1-8 season. Hail to the Redskins and Hail to the positive thinking Redskins fans in the world!

A half-empty glass is still empty.

Watch us lose the next two games and all of the "fans" around here will go nuts and will start talking 5-11. But even if we lose the next two and I think we will still go 10 - 6. Here is how:

Tampa is a guaranteed win - we have alternated win/loss with the Bucs for more than 12 games and it is our turn to win!

Gibbs has a outstanding record in December and we will win 4 out of 5. Don't ask me the one we will lose, but we will win 4 of the 5. Not only is Gibbs great in December, but we should get Randy Thomas back.

Now that the team knows they CAN run the ball, maybe they will stick with it. Everyone one has been complaining about how conservative this team has been but that was the first time CP got more than 20 carries. Plus they started running betwen the tackles or just off tackle, instead of Sweep left, sweep left, pass, punt; Sweep left, pass, pass, punt; pass, sweep left, pass, punt!

I was so pleased to see CP running inside and down hill!

If the glass ain't broken, don't fix it! I mean, that glass is filled with a chip on its shoulder. . .or was it, uh, two glasses in the hand are better than a half-empty one in the. . .hmm. . .and so on!

I was very angry with the team yesterday Sunday.

I am just frustrated today Monday.

I will be only disappointed tomorrow Tuesday.

I will start thinking in a more balanced way on Wednesday.

I will join this thread by, say, Thursday.

I'm delighted with the game, especially from an unexpected side-benefit of seeing my first live Redskin game since 1965.

Side benefit? No commentators telling what I saw or should think about what I saw. Just the game.

I saw a win. What other statistic matters?

Further...the team fought back from 17-3, suffered a last-minute tie (right, the defense should have held, but then Clemens is pretty good)

I saw an on-side kick that left the Jets flat-footed and gasping. Over-cautious coaching? No.

I saw (to repeat from another thread) Saunders/Gibbs put Lorenzo Alexander in at TE -- a DT blocking at end. And I saw them flatten everything in front of them. For "style points", wow, that was stylish!

I would have sworn that 1965 was a type-o the first time I saw you post it in another thread. Well, if you're only going to see one live Redskins game every 42 years, it may as well be a nail-biter, over-time victory. :D

you know what ?..It was Mid second quarter and were on a 82-10 stretch.....ill admit this...they showed me heart they showed they werent willing to the 08 season die at the Jets hands....Tthe team has character...to out score your opponent 20-3 to win the game after being outscored 82-10 over 7 quarters says alot about this team.

are they an avg lot?--probably
are they flawed? most definitely
are they coached insanely too conservative? painfully yes

do they have fight ? yes
is their team character above the avg? YES

AND that my friends is why I tune in every week for better or worse...
This team cares The coach cares The owner cares....it makes me care
its gives me hope ....just maybe just maybe we can put some wins together and surprise people........

Yes, true, true. My Dad had the PEPCO company tickets for a game in '65, but he had to work (as I used to say, If my Dad doesn't go to work, then nobody has electricity), so a buddy and I saw the St Louis Cardinals run through the Redskins like a big truck going through cardboard boxes.

My luck...either Otto Graham was mad at Jurgensen that week, or Sonny was hurt, but I remember that the Redskins started Dick Shiner...U of M star QB. The Cardinals started an RB named Johnny Roland, who "rolled" through giant holes in the Redskin defense. "Gaping" comes to mind.

This was something different.

(Oh, and, living in NYC, my wife thinks it's extravagant to go down to DC for a game, although my son and I used to travel down for the Caps once each season, and my daughter has gone with me to a few Nats games...but it's easier to get baseball or hockey tickets. Yes, I have an autographed Number 6 1959/60 home jersey -- that was Harmon Killebrew, and yes, I wore it to the Father's day game in 2006 when Zimmerman hit a walk-off come-from behind game-winner against the Yankees)

And (another edit), that's why I can stay positive now. Having cheered my heart out for the pre-Lombardi/pre-Allen teams just made it better all through the '70s and '80s and until Norv Turner got the team. Allen, Pardee, Gibbs, and Petibon won my trust. Sure, Gibbs can make mistakes, but he has been right so often that I assume he knows what he is doing.

It's Tuesday and I am still positive. I want to thank everyone for contributing positive comments and keeping this thread on track. I am a firm believer that if you can see something good happening, it is more likely to come true. With a lot of us seeing this team in a positive manner, something good is bound to happen.

What we need from this team on Sunday is to beat the snot out of the eagles. I am believing it will happen, I can see it happening and it is gonna happen. Who else is with me? I am predicting a big day from Campbell and good play calling from the coaches. Hail to the Redskins!

It was nice seeing someone else blow a 14-point lead for a change!

My fiance was furious when we were down 17-3. Going for field goals didn't change her mood at all. She was done, she wasn't going to watch anymore. (she did, but only because I wouldn't shut it off)

I stayed with it. More importantly, the team stayed with it.

At one point I even stated that we only needed 3 more field goals to win the game! Sonny Jurgenson was right there with me, with his "National Field-Goal League" bit.

It takes a lot of heart to be able to stay in the game when you're down by that much and all you're getting is field goals. I heard someone else make an excellent point. This team did what a good team is supposed to do. They came out behind, but stayed with it and beat a team they were supposed to beat.

The defense looked sloppy, but they really only allowed 13 points, and really only allowed 3 points in the second half.

If we carry the same defense vs. the Eagles we stand a pretty good chance against them too. McNabb can't scramble this year. The kid for the Jets was able to scramble better than McNabb has been this year.

Don't sweat who's down the road, worry about who's next, and next is the Eagles. We've shown we can beat them, we're coming off a win, and we're playing at home. Not a certain W, but I like our chances to be 6-3.

Without Landy's roughing penalty to extend the Jets one scoring drive, their offense would have only put up six points. We've got to get Leron and London to stop with the drive-extending penalties. They almost lost us the Jets and Cardinals games.

Totally right, I'm reading the rest of the schedule and none of them can sniff our straps. At 13-3 we rule the NFC playoffs at home and get the rematch with the Pats. We won't take them so lightly this time. I'm pre-paying for a hotel room now.

There is a marked difference between staying positive and having delusions of grandeur. Somewhere in this thread, that line was crossed.

It all depends on how you look at the situation. Some people think we are delusional because we believe our team can make the playoffs this year or for that matter, beat the cowboys. Heck, earlier in the year I heard the Eagles vs Redskins game was a "layup" for the Eagles. As I have stated before, "to see it to believe it" all starts in your mind. Some people are "extravagantly" seeing things and I am glad that they are. We are going to "WILL" our team to victory!!!!!!!!

 I'm not trying to kill the positive vibe here. There are more than enough other threads for negative posts. I just think it's far beyond positive to think this Redskins team will win eight straight games.

Fine. This is the year the Redskins will defeat Ttit twice, win in the Meadowlands, stop the best running back in the league this season, win home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, and convince the commish to hold this year's SuperBowl at FedEx Field in honor of the team's achievements.
