Whats Up with Jerimaih Trotter
Why does Joe Gibbs want to cut him? Is there something about him that alot of people do not know.
He was a great player with the Eagles and there was alot of anger when he left because he turned down a contract extension. He seemed to struggle his firsr year but seemed to play pretty well last year and and got better as the season went on. He got a big bomus and won't that hurt the skins cap.

It was probably that he's getting paid too much money for his recent performance. Like Arrington, even in Philly, Trotter was a loose cannon on the field...and he brought that with him to D.C., blowing a lot of his assignments. Furthermore, because Gibbs has and will always say that "character comes first", something tells me that Trotter's character off the field may be questionable in Gibbs' eyes as well.
If he does not have Gibbs' Redskins character, I say dump him, too!

That's and his contract really leaves us no other option He WONT change he's been playing that way for to long
What's the deal with holdman? He was cut by the Bears before Free Agents could talk to other teams (and he still hasn't sign with anyone?)

Re Justice Hog
To Justice Hog,
Do you know of anything about his character off the field?
He was one of the true character guys in Philly, on and off the field. Andy Reid has tendancies to take things to personally and just cut him because he turned down a contract extension early on then when Trotter got in a position of leverage the eagles said good bye.
Now if Gibbs who has alot more respect than Reid is about to give him the heave ho, I wonder if there is sometning that has not come out

whats up guys........new poster here.....lifelong
skins fan. Justed wanted to add that i noticed too that Trotter missed too many assignments..even during games the announcers would notice this. I say all we need is a decent mb, someone who is smart, smart being the keyword. You can have all the talent in the world but if u dont know your gap assignment, and hit the wrong hole, then you look around and the rb is 10 yds. behind you. And i believe Gibbs feels the same way, just look at who the skins are going after....not flashy, just plain smart....love reading all the posts....thanks guys.

How did he "suck"? He made the plays and ...........

Coaching is key. Guidance is key. The defense as a whole "sucked," lets not put it on one guy because he is trade bait

This to me is a product of badd coaching. LA, despite his abilities missed more than Trotter and had less numbers. I dont think Gibbs doubt his abilities, I think this is about the cap. Its funny how no one dogged this dude before the trade was announced

i've heard from an "inside" source, which i can't reveal, that trotter was locker room poison. i've heard he picked fights, among other things. but i also remeber that he was one of the few starters to show up at gibbs initial press conference. i thought that showed a lot of class. i'm kinda torn between the sides on this issue.

The quick answer to your question is "no", I know of no specific examples. Because Gibbs primary focus is on a player's "character" however (and not talent), and because Gibbs has told Trotter to look elsewhere....putting my trust in Gibbs...that alone is telling me Trotter has character issues.
redskincity argues:
Dude. You're not really trying to sell me Trotter's numbers to support the idea that he maintains his assignments, are you? My point was that Trotter simply is not playing his position like he should...just like he did when he was in Philly. If he did play his position correctly, his numbers probably would have been much better.

Hey redskinscity, if he stayed within his assignments...how many tackles would he have had? Maybe even a Pro Bowl? Hmmmm?
Players miss assignments and sometimes still are able to make a play. Because they miss the assignment, however, the play they make may be 3-5 yards further down the field than the play should've been made.
The number of tackles one makes is not a good indicator whether that person is doing their job, in my opinion. It's where and when those tackles are made that counts....just as much (if not more) than the number of tackles made.

Now thats what I am talking about. That make a whole lot more sense. In that case if you are right, I concur with your statement. "This is a very good point."
