New England = Overrated Offense, Redskins = Great Matchup

I think the whole point of this thread was to show tis game isn't as bleak looking as some may have thought it was. Rallying the troops so to speak (at least that is how I took it). I don't think new england is overrated because 27 tds to 2 ints speaks for itself. If Brady throws 4+ touchdowns against us, I will say they are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook

If he scores 4 TDs agianst Ill come in here and say "that boys good"' which is exactly what Im saying now about him.

If he scores 6 or More TDs agianst us. Ill come back in here and say " I was worng, He is a football god"

Why, you might ask????

First off, outside of Adalius Thomas and Assante Samuel, who else are stud's on that defense??? Maybe Colvin???? For the most part, Belicheck has been running up the score because he knows that his defense is suspect because of it's age. Miami put up 20+ on them prompting Belicheck to put Brady back in.

Secondly, our skilled positions on offense are better than what they have have seen all year, including Dallas. Even though our O-Line is banged up on the right side, I feel that they are still good enough to compete with anybody. They just need to be coached and on one page with the game plan. Our problem is too much confusion as to what we are doing and I think that Joe Jackson Gibbs has done a horrible job of supporting his $2.5 million dollar OC and his offense. If Pro Bowlers and Future HOF's Will Shields and Willie Roaf bought into Al's system, why can't Samuels, Jansen, Thomas and the rest of the O-Line?

I think that we can steal one this Sunday if the offense comes to play and they open it up....

If our offense played to the level of the talent that it has on it, two undefeated teams would be playing in Foxboro on Sunday and it would be even money.

I think we seriously over hype our tallent level:

We have a good young QB, but he is a good young QB.

We have a RB that has lost a step playing behind a make shift, cast of O-line (except for Samuals).

Kendal was traded to us by the Jets because he was going to be a backup, Puccilo couldn't make the Browns O-line when they had nobody, Fabini is another cast off that could no longer start at tackle (now playing guard), and Wade was a starter for a "great Miami OL" until they found someone better. That unit just might be the worst OL in football. They aren't playing like the worst because of Buges, but no one gets away with that many scrubs for very long.

S Moss would be a #2 WR on most teams in the NFL and ARE would be a #3, B Llyod and Thrash would be unemployed or #4 WR at best. (There is another thread on Lloyd so please don't vent here either way about that). We don't have a legit #1 WR.

ey and Sellers could start on almost ever team in the league. Even though we did get Seller fresh from the CFL 4 years ago.

So let's not keep up with this fantasy that we have great tallent on our offense right now. If we had all of our starting OL back I might agree with you and we would be 6-0 right now.

Stats are fun because you can make them show just about anything. The major problem I see is the offense. It has folded in 3 games. I include the Arizona game in that because the offense did absolutely nothing in the 2nd half of the game, just like the Giants and Packers games. The Redskins won because the kicker missed (and I am certainly glad he did).

At this point, the offense still looks like no one understands the offensive scheme for more than 30 minutes. Yes, the O-lines is destroyed but I still do no think that is the whole problem because the offense wasn't that hot before the injuries.

Can the Redskins beat New England? Of course they can but it will take a far, far, far, far better game than they have played so far this year.

Hey, I think a lot of you were missing the point in my write up. I believe the Pats are likely the best team and that they probably will break all the passing records. That said, right now people are acting like its a given that they will go 16-0 so far this year. In fact, yesterday on the Mike Tirico Show on ESPN Radio they were asking whether the Pats or Red Sox had a better chance of winning a Championship and Mike seemed to think it was the Pats EVEN THOUGH THE RED SOX ONLY HAVE TO WIN FOUR MORE GAMES TO DO SO AND THE PATS AREN'T EVEN IN THE PLAYOFFS YET!!! As Lee Corsoe says, "not so fast my friend." Can you really judge a team so quickly that has played such GARBAGE competition? This is once again the media jumping to conclusions in a completely irresponsible manner. Everyone has bitten hook, line, and sinker without even trying to delve into the actual statistics or the quality of the teams the Pats have played (which in my estimation is BY FAR the easiest schedule in football).

I hate drawing a comparison to the Cowgirls, but in that game they faced a team that is currently ranked 2nd in total offense and 7th in defense. They didn't just eek out a win here, they decimated 'em (it was great at the time).

I guess we won't really know if what you say is true about the WR's and RB's because we don't throw enough down field to them and the right side of the O-Line has yet to prove itself...... But you may end of being correct though. You can crunch em how you want to, they are by far the "best" team in the NFL. We are a "hurt" offensive team that must somehow find way to move the ball against a "top notch" defense. I believe we will need to take some chances early on offense, by passing downfield. This will hopefully open up our running game. We must be mistake free this week, the Patriots will not give us second & third chances.. THATS our only shot....

That's not accurate regarding the Pats rushing attack. They've rushed it 224 times at a 4.2 ypc clip and passed it 232 times so it's almost a 50/50 split. Their running game is not talked about due to the gaudy numbers Brady is putting up.

Maybe we can get some "coverage sacks". I think the only chance we have is to get to Brady. He CAN get flustered if he gets beat-on a bit (thats how the Jets beat them last year). He gets pissed off and starts throwing stupid passes. If that starts happening, anything's possible. But don't underestimate their defense. Belicheck is a Defense Guru and puts together some killer game plans. He'll look to confuse Campbell, shut down ey and force the long ball. He'll also exploit the right side of the Redskins O-Line.

All I'm hoping for is a good competitive game, with our defense keeping it close and a chance for a couple lucky bounces and a classic "trap game" upset.

True The QB is young and learning no one has said he was any more. He's better than just good though.
How can you tell CP lost a step if he's not getting past the line of scrimage with a make shift line.

Kendall was the starter in NY when he was traded for and it took the Jets a few weeks to get comfortable without him.

Pucillo is the correct spelling of the mans name and he started six games for the team you said he couldn't make, he was also brought in to be a backup yet started at center last week, Fabini is a 10 year vet that has started everywhere he's played except when with ttiT who again was brought in for depth. Miami didn't find someone better he was their starter until the Texans offered him more money.

Most teams would be at a minimum 17 teams that wouldn't have Moss as a number 1, name them. If Lloyd was unemployed he be picked up by some team by next Tuesday, Thrash would be in uni this weekend somewhere else.

Let's start tearing down those that are out there trying to get the job done until the starters are healthy or at least know what we are talking about when we do. Look at the two losses we SHOULD BE 6-0 even with the injuries. At 4-2 they should get more credit from someone with skinsfan as part of a user name.

The Patriots have run 463 offensive plays. Of these plays 224 of these plays have been rushing plays. The remaining 239 have been passing plays. This is a 48.3% rushing/51.7% passing split. This is with 3 games without the #1 running back and 1.5 without the primary backup.

By comparison the Washington Redskins have run 177 passing plays and 193 rushing plays. This is a 52.2%/47.8% rushing/passing split.

Will be the game of the year no-one is talking about unless the Colts get blown out by the Panthers.

It could be. The Pats had trouble with Saunders O when he ran that side of the ball for the Chiefs. For some reason the Pats D has had problems with the fake reverse hand it to the RB pre-snap motion that Saunders ran in KC (I'm assuming that's still part of the offense in Washington). The RB/TE combo of Holmes & Gonzalez was somewhat better than the Portis/Cooley duo you guys have and Trent Green at that time was playing better than Campbell but your WRs are better than anything KC had back then.

We only need an offensive line, a running game, receivers who can hold onto the ball and a new field goal kicker. Then we'll surely be competitive. Oh....and better clock management.
