video encoding--need help

Post by Cappster »

I recently acquired the adobe cs3 software. Included is the adobe cs3 flash video encoder. My question is : How do you get a dvd file (.vob) to convert to a flash video file (.flv)? I don't believe that it is natively supported by adobe flash does anyone know what I can do to convert this type of file.

thanks

Best advice is to google search a video converter.
Try this free one:

I have CS3 also, any time I have a problem I hit the "help" up top. You can find every solution right there, just type what you're trying to do

Thanks GSPODS but I just found it. no converter is needed. All you need to do is go to windows explorer>tools>folder options>view>uncheck "hide extensions for known file types". Then go to the file>right click on it>rename to mpg or mpeg and it will open with windows media player.

Now I just have to figure out how t0o take the 3 different mpeg files and add them to one video. Yes, I am a noob when it comes to video editing. Any suggestions?

I tried the help feature but since it is a file that isn't supported by cs3, nothing comes up. Any suggestions on the easiest way to put all three files into a video?

If you're going to change the extension I suggest making yourself a copy first. Sometimes doing that will corrupt the file. My 2 cents
Video editing is not something I can help you with. I'm an idiot when it comes to video editing.

Yeah I did. I always preach backup backup backup to all of my users. Hopefully, if anyone follows my advice, they will do the same.

Hmmm, I discovered after changing the file extension on the .vob to .mpg or .mpeg, I still cannot convert the file. I gues I will have to figure someting else out. I am also going to need another HD because this video editing is taking up a lot of space.

Did you try the free file converter I posted the link to? :)
It usually works for me. Not always, but usually.
