RIP MAX MCGEE

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

RIP MAX MCGEE

Post by Charm City Sports »

I just found out that Max McGee, former GB hero, and the guy who scored the first SB TD ever died.

He fell off his roof while blowing leaves of his roof.

I had a chance to meet Mr. McGee at the CSA show in chantilly Va last March.

He was a real nice guy and was very pleasant to talk to.

A real great imbassitor (bad spelling) to the game, and will be missed.

An important player. A key guy on all of those Lombardi NFL and Super Bowl champion teams.

Damn, that sounds like the punchline to a bad joke. He was 75. That's too old to be up on your roof. RIP Max.

Yes, and entirely by accident. Max was a slightly intoxicated backup who was famous for breaking team curfew and never expected to see the field. As 'luck' would have it, the starting receiver separated his shoulder and Max made the most of his opportunity.

Merciful heaves, a player on the field intoxicated with ALCOHOL? What is the world coming down to?

Do you mean to say that there were no players that played in such health state in the NFL at the time?

Billy Kilmer never found himself in a bar he did not like and the Hogs had their own game planning "discussions" -EVERY- week. There was no much film study, or so I have heard.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Billy was probably in a lot of bars he didn't like but I'll bet he was never in one he wouldn't drink in. Sonny J was known to enjoy the occasional beer himself. For that matter, so was Riggo. But they all expected to play on Sundays and Max didn't, at least not in SuperBowl 1.

Actually, I was thinking about Max M's career before the NFL played the SB. Green Bay hardly ever lost. Lombardi, I think, ost only one playoff game...and in those days, it the best of the East against the best of the West, one game showdown.

You mean there was pro football before the merger? No one tell the disco queen, she thinks those teams' championships don't count.
