Super Bowl in London?

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Yeah, that sounds like terrible football weather.

Of course this all about money - the National Football League is a business, and it's their business acumen that's led to the NFL being the money-making juggernaut that it is.

Nobody has to like Goodell or his policies - I just hope everyone understands that his responsibility is to the owners of the NFL, not the fans of the NFL. If people were really so disgusted by games or even a Super Bowl in Europe, they could stop watching. But he, just like you and I, know that the American consumer couldn't quit on football if they tried. In that respect, I think he's doing a great job.

With all due respect to our UK fans:

If you think the media whined, 8itched, and moaned about Jacksonville as a Superbowl site wait until they try to put an extra million people in London for a week!

Beside the idea of ineternational regular season games really ticks me off, unless it is a 17th game and everyone played once outside of the US, but "America's Game" not in America is just wrong!

What's next? Run the Datona 500 in Monte Carlo!

The NFL is a US sport. Football to the rest of the world is soccer. Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, and racing are all international sports. Football, NFL, style "is" America.

Bills Seek Permission to Play Home Game in Toronto

The Buffalo Bills on Thursday's announced they are seeking approval to play a preseason and at least one regular-season game in Toronto as part of the franchise's attempt to expand its market base beyond western New York.

"The team hopes to capitalize on the increasing interest of fans in the Canadian market by playing a regular-season game in Toronto," the Bills announced in a release.

The Bills hope to play a preseason game at Toronto next summer, with plans to play a regular-season game as early as 2009. The games would be played at Rogers Center, a downtown stadium with a retractable roof that serves as home to baseball's Blue Jays and the Canadian Football League Argonauts.

That's just garbage. The weather's like that all year round. :)

Although I personally think that cold, wet and miserable is exactly the weather that football should be played in.

Hmmmm. Have you ever met an English NFL football fan? I am one, have close friends who are too, and have met at least 60,000 of them, and don't think I've seen any that match that description.

Methinks you are confusing NFL fans with "soccer" fans, which is a mistake. And even then, your assessment would be crud.

Are you thinking of somewhere closer to home?

That is football weather. Cold. Wet, if possible. Miserable. Yes!

Let's make a deal: the Super Bowl can be played in London if the FA Cup final is played at FedEx Field....

You mean THE Open. ;-)

Moving the SB outside of the US to anywhere is plain dumb. So is a regular season game mind you and that has not stopped them.

NFL is a minority sport in the UK, there is not even that big a market to tap into. Germany has a far bigger football following.

You're welcome to have the FA Cup Final. And while you're at it, you can have The Boat Race, The Grand National, and all the badminton you can handle.

I just heard on the NFL Network about a meeting of The Danny, Robert Kraft, The Crypt Keeper and "other dignitaries and owners" at the Landmark hotel in London, where they will be discussing the changing face of the global sports industry.

Also, the G-strings are playing Miami in London on Sunday. Hopefully jetlag and overlooking a winless team will take it's toll on them, and they will drop a gimme win. Of course it is a road game for the G-spots. The NFL will give them an extra home game after Katrina, but would never take one away a few seasons later.

I have just been to the Giants v Dolphins at Wembley (in Redskins Jersey)and the stadium is amazing and many fans here loved that we finally had a proper game.

However most people around me weren't actually English and altho i'd like more NFL games to get here the SuperBowl should stay at home!!! ( i am moving to states so maybe unfair view but hey..).

If the FA cup was in the states they would go nuts here, plus i don't want soccer following me out i want to leave it behind :)

Goodell was actually interviewed during the Giants-Dolphins game, and he said his comments about the Super Bowl potentially being in London were misinterpreted. According to Goodell, he was asked if competition for hosting the game would increase, and he does indeed think that will be the case. Since that question came during a London broadcast about the London game, it unintentionally got wrapped together. I don't know if that's really true, but that's Goodell's story.

Super Bowl in London a Bad Idea. Keep that in the US where it belongs. But adding an additional game to be played outside the US. That could be a good idea. London, All the Germany sites in the NFL Europe, Barcelona Spain, Tokyo, Mexico city, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver are 12 sites that I would propose if I was the Commish. Just my 2 cents.
