Wilbon is good. I think that the problem that some may have with his comments is that we are on a "high" right now at 3-1 and nobody wants to here the negativity because of that.

I am very happy that we are 3-1 and should actually be 4-0 now but at the same time, I'm not going to get too comfortable right now until we can consistently do what we did against Detroit. That we can come out week after week and have our offense running with some consistency. I'm not worried about the "Animal Trainer" and his guys on the other side of the ball because they have shown that if you give them rest, they can be formidible. But my concern now is with our offense and our ability to use the talent on, make plays, and get the defense rest.

I like what I see so far but it needs to be consistent. If we roll into GB and our next 4-5 games and put out efforts like we did against the Lions, we will be fine (barring injuries) and I can get comfortable. The seasons of the past have me a little leery about getting to comfortable or excited right now.

Question....
Does he actually watch the games he comments on, or does he only see the highlights and final scores?

I'm certain Wilbon does what every other reporter does. He gleans only the information necessary to support his pre-existing opinion. My 2 cents

A pretty ridiculous statement without having any first hand knowledge of how Wilbon does his job. There are plenty of bad sports writers out there but Wilbon isn't one of them. He is very informed and his columns are well researched and well written. I've had the opportunity to meet him and listen to him talk about sports and he is very knowledgeable about sports, including sports like golf and tennis that many reports don't know squat about. Wilbon may have biases but he does a very good job of making sure that they don't cloub his reporting.

Just because Wilbon isn't another Washington homer doesn't make him a good reporter by default. A lot of the members of this forum are very knowledgeable about sports. That doesn't automatically mean that people like myself, who read 25+ newpapers every morning would make good reporters.

Wilbon gets his information from the same AP Wire that everyone else gets their information from. There isn't enough time in the day for any reporter to watch the NFL games, the final round of the PGA Tour event, and the TPA Tennis finals on Sunday. There is also baseball, hockey, basketball is starting soon. There isn't enough time in the day.

You happen to like Wilbon's reporting. OK.
"He is very informed and his columns are well researched and well written." Your opinion, maybe the opinion of others. Not my opinion.
And I do have some first-hand knowledge of how reporting is done. I don't claim to be an expert but your claim of having no first-hand knowledge is off-base. It also doesn't take rocket science to receive the AP RSS feed and see what is or is not reported. My 2 cents

He watches the Skins each and every week. It is a requirement of his job as a WP reporter.

and it is widely recognized that no reporter is going to get much credit for "supporting" the Redskins - there is much more "notoriety" to be gained by being anti the Redskins and the Redskins' fan base.

Even if these guys like the team they would not get much "room" in the press if they were not seen to be anti Skins and their bosses like to sell papers or get better ratings and theway to best do that is to aggravate us and our team.

the local media have an agenda, this is not new to most of us and yet we continue to speculate about it - get over it people, this will not change no matter how well we do
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I don't think he was Ant-Redskin at all. He just wasn't Kool-aid drinking pro-Redskin. I think everything he said was down to earth and made sense. I'd much rather have real reporting than local team butt kissing any day.

And yes, we fans should be eating humble pie after that loss to the Giants and concede they're the better team until the Redskins meet them again and win or the records diverge significantly. That loss was pathetic and I hope it will drive this team down the road. Kind of their own "Remember the Alamo". Worse for me was watching that game sitting next to my friend who's a Giants fan. That truly sucked.

Nevertheless, I'm really pumped about Sunday. A Redskins win over Green Bay will do a lot for (what I consider useless but its fun to watch/read) media respect.

Wilbon just picked Green Bay over the Redskins on PTI so he definitely is no homer for Washington. The Cubs on the other hand ...

I've never had a problem with Wilbon or his picks, his colums are normally pretty good and his picks are normally wrong.

My problem is I hat all reporters. I suppose I've become callused to bad reporting and wouldn't know the difference if I read good reporting.

possibly or that most reporters have never played sports and talk like they invented the game. If I was a pro I would hate some of these guys like JOE BUCK or some twerp english major how just wants to get autographs...

He gave a fair assessment. We only have won three games. I like the fact that no one gives respect to the Skins. It means that they really dont know what they are talking about. Plus who really pays close attention to the Skins other than Fans and actual coaching staff?

That statement is somewhat warranted since we did lose to the gints, we shouldn't have, but we did. He can hat all he wants, it's early, we are still in growing pains. Even if it looks like the pains are gone and it's the "W" that's growing 8)

I don't think that is warranted at all! If the Browns slip up this year and beat the Pats by a FG does that make them the better team? One win or loss hardly determines which team is better.
Taylor and Landry will take no Prisoners!! - I just can't bring myself to delete it!
