why tampa

Post by cleg »

Sorry if this has been brought up but why do we have to play tampa every year? Back in the 90s we had to play them twice in one year.

I think it has something to do with the way NFL game schedules are made. I'm not certain of that. I'm sure someone knows the answer.

I tihnk every year the skins play the NFC opponent that finishes with the same place in the division from the previous year. Two years ago both the skins and Tampa finished 2nd in their division so they played ech other last year. Last year they both finished last in their division so they play each other this year. Prior to that I can't remember off hand. I think that is how it works.

It seems we are always riding a similar track to Tampa's. When we're good, they are, and vice versa, and then we have to meet them in the playoffs on our good years. Obviously this has not been to the tee, but it sure seems like since the '99 playoff loss (Turk's snap) it has been this way in several seasons.
I predict a 36-35 win there after a Mike Sellers contraversial 2 point conversion in the closing minutes.

It is simple math...

6 DIV games +
6 COF games +
4 INTER COF games =
16 TOTAL games

The NFL rotates DIV play... we play the ACE this year, ACS last year, and ACN next year
>>>IT STARTS WITH D and O LINEMEN, EVERY DOWN, EVERY GAME, EVERY SEASON<<<

RIP # 21!

Tired of people who think we need superstars at EVERY position to excel... we dont... just 53 guys who are tough an smart

That doesn't explain why we see Tampa each year. I do think it is what the guy 2 posts up said though. finishing same in each division

Actually, it's a combination of both. The 6 conference games are really four against another NFC division, plus two games against the team that finished in the same position in the other two NFC divisions. This year we are playing the NFC North. (Detroit, Green Bay, Chicago, and Minnesota) plus Tampa from the NFC South and Arizona from the NFC West. We also play the AFC East this season. We played the NFC South last season, so we had Tampa then, too. We will see them again in 2009, also. In 2005, when we played the NFC West, we played Tampa because we both finished 3rd in our divisions in 2004. I don't care that we seem to play them every season, my complaint is that the games have all been in Tampa.
