I had considered a number of other adjectives, but I suppose "stunning" would work...

I wouldn't put too much stock in KFFL, there are alot more reliable sources out there. Now with that said, Moss was dinged up in the Giant game, and I think he has not been 100% since preseason. We might have to live with that fact he might not be a full timer for awhile, let's hope i'm wrong.
Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure Loyd's situation, number 1, he didn't play against the giants, number 2 we bring in Caldwell, and now number 3, we are "about" to sign a 37 year old wide out that has been out of football this year. Let's hope he has something left, he was a quality wideout in his day...I am hoping we are not in that desparate a situation....

BLloyd...who was the idiot in Personnel that said we need to bring this guy to Washington?

McCardell...should have never been let go in the first place. He does have a year or two left and IS A GOOD WR! End of story

If we sign him...we need to USE HIM!

We could sign Randy Moss but if he can't get open and we don't throw to him....

Hey bro, I dont know if anyone has told you but Randy Moss plays for some small team up in New England. I hear he is doing ok over there.

Receiving Statistics
Player Rec Yds
Santana Moss 12 199
Antwaan Randle El 11 238
Clinton Portis 07 44
Chris Cooley 06 54
Ladell Betts 04 55

The numbers don't lie. It is exactly that desparate, especially if Santana Moss is out of the lineup.

...or maybe they are not about to sign McCardell.

Personally, signing him would be righting the mistake they made when they dropped him to keep a small WR, winner of a certain big-time trophy, a player-who-cannot-be-named.

Note: I've decided, after reading all the Harry Potter books, that several players and at least one game cannot be named...ever!

Its official:

Redskins Sign McCardell, Cut Stoutmire

October 1, 2007

The Redskins continue to tweak their wide receiver corps, signing 15-year veteran Keenan McCardell on Monday, the team announced.

To make room for McCardell, the Redskins released safety Omar Stoutmire.

The signing could be a chance for McCardell to end his NFL career where he started: McCardell was originally drafted by the Redskins in the 12th round of the 1991 NFL Draft.

McCardell received a Super Bowl XXVI ring while spending his first NFL season on the Redskins injured reserve list.

McCardell, 6-1, 188 pounds, ranks ninth all-time in receptions with 861 catches for 11,117 yards and 62 touchdowns.

He departed the Redskins for Cleveland in 1992. He played four seasons with the Browns before moving on to Jacksonville, where he would become one of the game's premiere receivers from 1996-2001. He still ranks second in Jaguars team history with 499 receptions for 6,393 yards and 30 touchdowns.

McCardell then spent two seasons in Tampa Bay, including the Buccaneers 2002 Super Bowl XXXVII Championship season, before moving on to San Diego.

He spent the past three NFL seasons with the Chargers, appearing in 37 games during that span. Last season, McCardell played in 14 games--with 11 starts--and caught 36 passes for 437 yards.

A free agent this past off-season, he signed with Houston prior to the start of training camp but he was released prior to the start of the regular season.

I am not so sure about cutting stoutmire. I love our depth in the secondary and i think stoutmire is a very solid db. Mccardell shouldnt see the field with reche and blloyd. Who knows he could be the veteran guy we need but he is 37.....that is old

Stoutmire was caught up in a numbers game with five healthy and productive safeties without him versus having five healthy wide receivers and one of the most productive injured. I'm sure he'll be back at some point this year.

I think that this signing was to help us should Moss be out more than this week. We can easily beat Detroit but its going to be up to our 2ndary to stop them. JC should have awesome stats against Detroit. Not having Moss in there will hurt a bit.

A bit? Moss not playing would be a huge loss. ARE and Thrash as the #1 and #2 wide receivers would be pathetic, even against a bad Lions defense. Moss is our only real threat at wide receiver right now and if Cooley is again called on to help block, we could be in some real trouble on offense. If Moss is out that means that we will only have 1 wide receiver in the game that has caught a pass this season. I think that Caldwell and McCardell could do some good things for us this season but how well do they know the offense and what kind of timing do they have with JC? McCardell just got here today so who knows if he's even going to be active against the Lions. Gibbs and co. don't seem to trust Lloyd so we're looking at ARE, Caldwell, and Thrash getting the bulk of the pt against the Lions if Moss is out.

You are forgetting a few other resources that we will have that have been very dependable in the past. They may not be WR's but the are "go to" guys.

* Mike Sellers (previous TE with good hands. ability to run after the catch. High motor)
* Ladell Betts (known for great hands, decent speed, one of the top runners in the 2nd half of the NFL lasy year)

Now I think we may just have to dink and dunk our way down the field. ARE will be our down field threat. It will be fun to see what they do. We may see the infimous screen pass that our O Coord. made so famous.

I guess I'm just not as confident as you about the dink and dunk strategy working (if that's what they do). With ARE as the only down field threat I can see Detroit stacking the box which could make running the ball and the short passing game difficult. Also, Sellers dropped two passes last week against the Giants and Betts has been rather mediocre this season (last year when he did well he faced some of the worst rushing d's in the NFL). So maybe that strategy will work, but against a Lions team that I think will put up some points I'm not sure if it will be enough (assuming Moss is out).

- I have a hunch that Moss will play. Until Gibbs rules him definitely out, he's in. Gibbs teams work that way.

- I'm curious to see McCardell in a Redskin uniform

Why is this organization "tap-dancing" around this B.Lloyd thing. It's apparent that they are not happy with him so they sign not one but two new WR's to the squad within 3-4 weeks. I know one could say depth because Moss is down but what was the purpose of signing Caldwell while Moss was healthy?

If you are not going to play B.Lloyd and throw to him, then why have him on the squad? Dump him, take the hit and move on. Otherwise, play his butt everydown to recoup some of your money back and then move on if you need to.

This whole signing of WR's and Lloyd is just rotting on the bench is a pile of bullocks.... Make him return punts or kicks or play special teams or something......
