17-20 points ain't gonna cut it against the Lions

I have a feeling the Skins will have to score at least 30 points against the Lions to have a chance of winning that game. They are an offensive machine and the Skins won't be able to sit on a lead (if they ever get one). I have a strong feeling this is going to be a loss.

Lions are poor. Just watched them beat the Bears and if the Bears weren't so banged up and had the you-know-what's to start Orton instead of Griese ought to have won the game.

The Skins HAVE to pressure Kitna, and the HAVE to nullify Shaun Rogers on the D-line. Keep it simple from there and don't give away silly turnovers and we should see the Skins prevail in this one.

I dont have that feeling at all. Look, I know that everything changes week to week, but we beat the Eagles and the Eagles beat the Lions and they beat them bad. So, Im confident we will beat them and coming off a bye, we will be more prepared ( I hope ).

I was going to start this exact same thread so I am happy that someone else feels the same way. We are pretty decent against the run but seem to have trouble stopping the pass, with the lions being a passing team I to think we need at least, the very least 25 points to win this one. Remember all the dropped balls by miami in week one, we could have been in trouble there, and the eagles were just way off the mark, then along comes a decent passing team in the giants and we lose now the lions ......I hope to God we win but I have a bad feeling.

I would be lying if I said I didn't have some concerns about the Lions, which also feels like such an odd thing to say. They have the number 1 passing offense in terms of yards per game and they feature the second-highest scoring offense. However, it should also be noted that their offensive line has yieled 21 sacks ALREADY. Additionally, and I recognize Kevin Jones missed some games but they are 29th in the league in rushing. One would think that the Redskins should be able to generate a consistent pass rush against that offensive line, which was the league's worst last season and doesn't seem to have improved by much. Defensively, they are 29th against the pass and 20th against the rush. Teams are averaging a little over 30 points per game against them. I recognize much of the same was said about the Giants (though NY is much better against the run) but those things would seem to bode well for the Redskins.

Our CB's are in trouble next week.

Most likely these will be the matchups

Smoot VS Roy Williams
Rogers VS Calvin Johnson
Springs VS Mike Furrey
Torrence or Macklin VS Shaun McDonald

Now seriously, does anyone think any of those CB's can contain any of those WR's??

I know their run game is garbage, but with those kind of receivers who needs a run game??

I have a really bad feeling about this game, I don't like our chances...

I see the Lions beating us by atleast 14

My prediction

Redskins 20

Gibbs has to stop being so conservative with the lead, I mean I could see us getting an early lead but we will probably give it up in the second half, like usual.

Oh and I know I'm going to get a lot of heat for this, but please if you disagree don't insult, say something that proves me wrong..

hmmm, well the matchups are in their favor, but i have some confidence in our secondary.we'll be off a weeks rest.

however, you're right about conservative playcalling, their a real pass team,and if we can't limit their points through the air, we're gonna need to outgun them.

The Dolphins have a mediocre offensive line also and we weren't able to get consistent pressure on Trent Green. I think we had two sacks that game but for the most part Green had plenty of time to throw. Unless we score at least 28 points I think we are going to lose. If there was ever a team to open up the offense against this is it.

The Dolphins have allowed only seven sacks this season and average an (admittedly unimpressive) 95 yards rushing per game versus the Lions 75 per on the ground. So the Dolphins actually have a better offensive line, and by quite a bit when it comes to sacks allowed.

...just a thought. Every "sure thing" prediction has been turned upside-down.

I'm too old to predict how this part of the Redskins will match against that part of the opponents. Or who will get hurt. Or whatever.

Don't we have a tendency on this board to assume that the Redskins will win the SB after every win, and then turn on them after every loss?

I have no predictions except that Campbell will play as if on fire, and the OL will improve. Otherwise, I'll just scream my lungs out for a win.

The Lions are scary, to be sure, but the Bears secondary was dessimated today because of a lot of injuries. I think I could have probably passed for over 200 yards against the Bears today.

Next week, the Lions will come to Fed Ex and face a much more formidable defense in the Redskins.

If we can get a good pass rush and do a decent job on the WRs, we'll be okay.

I do agree, however, that 20 points ain't probably gonna cut it!

In that case, they should clean out their lockers now and start cutting everybody they don't want around next season. There is a reason why the games are played on the field, and not on paper.

That may be a good move. Fire everyone Danny sell the team, and we start over. I would rather watch a team full of people trying than one full of overpriced, over the hill players going through the motions. When does basketball season start?

I dont think the Lions will score alot on our defense, We need to score for a change, I think if we can score 20 we will win, I cant see the Lions going over 17

Our D will be antsy to bounce back back from an emabarrassing loss. Our safeties are gonna be busy on this game. We need Andre Carter to get a couple of sacks. I think the Skins will pull this one off, and it will not even be close. We are rested, and coming off a loss. This is going to be a good game.

We are 2-1 people and currently in 2nd place in the division! We have played one bad half of footballl, not even a whole game and everyone is ready to jump ship!

I actually like him, I'd rather have a wallet happy owner than a prude that keeps the payroll low to maximize profit. Yah, he spends money like it's going out of style, it may not have worked but at least he tries to bring in talent and fails, but he tries none the less. Everyone in the NFL got the same money to spend, so what if Snydie is dancing that thin line every year. He will always spend money to buy talent, I'm hoping by law of averages, he will get lucky and actually buy a player that can help, just my 2 cents.

Had the chance to watch the Bears-Lions game yesterday and can honestly say the Bears D actually had a decent day, constantly presurring Kitna. That loss is all of Griese`s fault.

The Lions will slow down because they are playing on grass, its that simple. Yes, they beat Oakland at home, but the Skins are much better than a team that was lead at that time by McCown.

Its gonna be a close one and our backs have to run the game away.

We play a cover 1/2/3 so it won't be all on the CBs alone. I think the deciding factor will be the front line. If we can get pressure on the Lions QB AND haev some sustained offensive drives, we'll be fine. Not a fomula I'd like to bet my next paycheck on, but it's quite doable. Plus there's a nasty taste from losing at home that won't be easily removed. I think we'll take this one.
