Redskins are about to sign WR Keenan McCardell
I heard it on 980 sports talk today, I guess BL is gone.....

According to reports WTEM Sports Radio 980 in Washington has reported that the Redskins are about to sign WR Keenan McCardell to a contract. NFL.com analyst Adam Schefter was a guest on WTEM today and said that it is likely that he won’t sign until Monday when the team returns to practice after the bye week. He also said that it is unlikely that the Redskins will carry 6 receivers. Currently the Redskins have Santana Moss, Antwaan Randle-El, James Thrash, Reche Caldwell and Brandon Lloyd on the roster. You’d have to imagine that if this report is true that either Caldwell or Lloyd are about to be released or Santana Moss’ injury is more serious than we know.

Lloyd doesn't suck as a football player. He just sucks here. Here is what happens: Players play for a contract and perform well, we sign them for huge money and then they slack off and get embarrassed b/c they play poorly and the media tears them up. We trade them and then they go to pro bowls. See Ryan Clark, Pierce, Walt Harris, and soon to be Arch in Chicago. Just something I've noticed. The other thing could be the coaches not doing a good job tapping into these guys talents. But I guess this is what you get when you try to buy talent. I want guys who are talented and are working toward their money not the other way around.

Everybody has the same money to spend, it's not buying talent it's finding the right people to fit your scheme. If Gibbs and Co. would use the same scheme they invision during the off-season once the real season gets going they'd be OK.
As they bring new people in others fall off and they haven't have the foresight to see this (happens year in and year out so maybe it's not foresight they are lacking).
Clark, Pierce, and Harris all took more money to go somewhere else and none of them where treded so you lost me there, Arch is the only one that remotely fits that mold and in the end we used the pick on H.B. Blades, I guy that will fill the role for many more years than they could admagined AA doing and the Bears picked up a half million of his tab to take him off our hands. I call that a wash.
So I really don't think that's what happens... just looks that way if your not really looking.

The Skins sometimes just seem way too willing to throw money at players though. When we traded for Lloyd he still had a year left on his contract. There was absolutely no reason to give him a lucrative extension without seeing him perform for this team.

His contract was part of his problem when he was in SF, the Skins get knocked for doing it but who doeesn't?
If lloyd had came in and performed the same way he did they last year in SF people would still say he was overpaid, it comes with being a free agent or player signed to the Skins in the months of March through May, If heard they overpay for street free agents in April. It's still the same money everyone else has. It's "the Danny" that gets the rap.

Please share with us who available is a more appealing option? Everyone wants to complain about Lloyd dropping passes, so the Redskins are looking at someone with nearly 900 career receptions, which means he doesn't drop many passes. Not to mention the fact that the Redskins had McCardell in his prime and let him go. So, now he's 37 and isn't beating anyone down the field. Art Monk never beat anyone down the field, either. All he did was catch the ball for first downs. But who needs that type of receiver when you have Santana "I never met a hamstring I couldn't pull" Moss, Antwan "I'll catch the ball for 3 yards or 30 yards but nothing in between" Randle El, James "I haven't caught a pass all year but I play special teams" Thrash, and everyone's favorite receiver to blame for everything, Brandon Lloyd. Somehow, it must be Lloyd's fault that Ladell Betts didn't quite make it into the end zone last week.
You have the luxury of being hypercritical of every decision the Washington Redskins franchise makes or does not make. The decisions their organization makes will in no way affect you directly. I'm quite certain their front office is equally hypercritical of the decisions, although, unlike you and many others, their team is not built upon a fantasy roster. They don't have the option of pulling a bait & switch with another franchise. They have to choose from who is available right now, and who fits under their salary cap. Although it seems some would prefer the Redskins sign Koren Robinson or David Boston, either would be far from a logically sound business decision.
If you really want someone to shoot you ...

None of those names fit the description that you put above. For Pierce and Clark, both players weren't making money with the Redskins and signed the first big contract they were offered in free agency. Walt Harris was only a stop-gap who wasn't making much, and he was let go after a terrible performance in DC.
and soon to be Arch in Chicago.
In the two Chicago games I've seen he hasn't been very good. He did make an interception off of a pass that was tipped high in the air, and he did pick up a blocked FG kick, so those are in his favor. But he was toasted repeatedly in the Dallas game.
He may turn into a star player in Chicago (Lovie Smith wanted him as much as we did in his first year of free agency), but even if that was the case it'd be the first player who matches your criteria above. . .and we'll see if that even happens.
Just something I've noticed.
You may want to look harder.

How about Keyshawn Johnson. At 6-4 and 215lbs he might be an option. He was a very good possession receiver with 814 rec and 64 TDs.

Isn't he sitting in a studio somewhere? I don't even know if he wants to play football but if he does there has to be a reason why the Redskins are not looking at him.

Possibly true, but don't the Redskins need a #3 and a #4? We don't know if Santana Moss is out and we haven't seen Reche Caldwell yet, either. Maybe they need a #1, unless Randle El would become the #1, in which case they need a #2, unless Caldwell would become the #2, in which case they need a #3 ...
You see where I'm going with this. We have no idea why the Redskins are looking at McCardell or anyone else. Everyone wants to guess that they are releasing someone but that may not be the case.

Supposedly, if you believe the rumours, the Redskins are giving McCardell a workout on Monday. They have not signed him yet, although a local radio station reported that they had and then recanted their report in less than two hours.

If KM can come in here and give us a couple receptions a game, bring him in!
But really... Brandon Lloyd honestly can't go out on Sunday and run a route and catch a ball or two? Really? Just one?? Not even a short one???

Brandon hasn't caught a pass, but neither has anyone else other than Moss and ARE, and Moss has a lingering injury so maybe this move has nothing to do with Lloyd and more to due with the availablity to have TWO receivers on the field at the same time.

Lloyd's been thrown to three times. One was the interception, one was a catch that was negated because the skins took the penalty and one was basly overthrown in the back of the end zone. Not exactly the chance he was looking for to make an impact this season.
