Portis interview on the John Thompson Show
Interesting interview with CP on the John Thompson Show. It got a little testy with CP and BMitch. All I know is that this guy is a beast and the coach's need to stop being stupid and need to give this guy the ball 20-25 times a game. He is our best offensive player so use him more!

I heard it live and I was alittle surprised by CP. He sounded angry at BMitch, even though BMitch was given him a compliment . I really like CP showing alot of emotion. It makes me say that this team is different. They dont just say the same old crap, like Gibbs ( I know , but he sugar coats alot of things, ). Ya know. He kind of tells it the way it is .

i haven't posted since the game.
i wanted to hear it from the horses mouth before i did. portis was not hurt, but was not in on the most crucial play in the game????? gibbs need to pull his head out of his ass.
thats like bringing a knife to a gun fight. sure its a nice knife, very sharp, very lethal. but its not as lethal as a bullet, and 99.999% of the time, the guy with the gun will win.
i don't get it. i didn't get it at the time, and i probably never will get it. and, at this point i still don't think gibbs gets it either. he needs to stick to recruiting players and watching his neckcars drive around the track and let saunders call the freaking offense.
damn i'm still burnt over that game.

Stop sugar-coating it and tell us how you really feel.
In all seriousness, I completely agree that Joe Gibbs is wearing too many hats. Why hire a staff of the best assistant coaches if you're not going to allow them to do what they were hired for and what you're paying them for? Most of the Redskins assistant coaches are more qualified for head coaching positions than several active head coaches. (See Norv Turner).
Gibbs also seems to be missing one crucial point, which is that he does not currently have the offensive line nor the type of running back to run the 50 Gut play 40 times a game. This isn't the '80's, Joe. You don't have the Hogs, you don't have John Riggins. You do have the quarterback and the receiving personnel for Al Saunders' offense.
Neckcar

I prefer ASCAR but either gets the point across.

Great points......
The other thing that bothers me or I caught out that CP interview is that, Clinton Portis is frustrated. He's trying to be the "good guy" and it's frustrating the hell out of him. How many backs in this league are truly happy sharing the ball with another back?? For a guy from the "U" to come on that show and take the "I'll do what they tell me to do" road is bunk. Not to mention, where in jeemy-christmas is his competitive fire????
I think that Clinton has had time to think about Sunday and about his whole career in general and he's frustrated. At the same time, he's had front row seats to see how they deal with "core guys" too. I guess I'd do what they tell me to, too if they just signed a guy behind me for a lot of money and my career has basically been a flop since I been here (despite a couple of "hard" thousand yard seasons).
So he let's it out on B-Mitch. And it's funny how he says he don't listen to sportstalk radio, so how do you know, Clinton, that B-Mitch is saying something negative about you every week???? Stop whining about what people say, grow your balls back, be the damn man that you were supposed to be when we traded for you. How many Hall of Fame RBs got there by being "interchanged" with another RB????

I don't need to read JLC's columns every week to know that he'll harp on the Redskins FO, criticize the coaches' ability to respond to today's game or players, and cite an "inside source" that says all is not well at Redskins Park behind the scenes.
BMitch is, unfortunately*, even more predictable, if that's possible.
*I must always include the footnote saying that Mitchell is one of the great Redskins, and deserves every respect paid to him for his time in Washington, D.C. as a player.

Boneheaded comment #1. He's "trying" to be a good guy.

Boneheaded comment #2. Stereotyping him. He's no longer CP, he's just a RB from "The U". They're all jerks, right? CP does coke too? Clinton has done nothing but show support for Betts which is in direction contradiction to your post.
roybus14 wrote:Not to mention, where in jeemy-christmas is his competitive fire????
Boneheaded comment #3. Did you hear the venom he just spit on that clip? Do you watch him run? Do you watch him block?
And that was just the skimming the surface of the 1st paragraph.
The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!

I beg to differ Chrissy.....
1. There are times in everyone's life where they put on the "happy face" when they really don't want to do something. Like dealing with in-laws you don't like or that guy from Accounting that is a total jack-off but you put on the happy face because you need those monthly numbers. That's what I'm saying IMO that Portis is doing.
2. I'm not saying that he ain't supporting Betts. I'm saying, IMO deep down, he ain't happy with the situation. Call it stereotyping or whatever but how many guys from the "U" that are in the league that have just gone with the flow of becoming second fiddle?
3. The venom he spit is just that, spit and in the wrong direction. I'm not questioning whether or not the guy can block or run. My question is his desire and wanton to be the "guy"... Do you think that Ladamian, Larry Johnson, Edgerin James, Shaun Alexander or the likes would be happy with the "interchangeable" backs situation and not to mention being left out of the game with it on the line at the goal line??? Say what you want, them dudes would have been heated and everybody would have known it. Yeah they would have said that it was their (the coaches) decision to not put them in but they would have screamed bloody murder about it instead of just going with the flow like Clinton did. Check out Larry Johnson's post game rant from Sunday. IMO, that venom Portis spit was meant for Redskins Park and not necessarily B-Mitch because all B-Mitch did was ask a question...
But hey, what do I know. I'm just a "bonehead" for having an opinion....

CP should just remind BMITCH that BMITCH is the proud owner of one of the biggest fumbles in Redskin post season history...92 in SF DIV GAME.Gibbs I last game
BMITCH was a great punt returner...he should shut his trap about RB'S
He will never be forgiven by me for that ....yet there he is berating the whole team after loss like hes never messed up EVER.
unfortunately his never reminded of that outright failure in that game ..another trip to the NFC championship is all that fumble cost us. let me ask everyone this ..has anyone on this current roster that BMITCH loves to tee off on daily ever cost us anything that big....Exactly

You are correct about 92' but that doesn't necessarily disqualify or offsets B-Mitch's opinions. IMO, B-Mitch is so hard on this team because he remembers how it was when he played for Gibbs back in the day and he is seeing a totally different Gibbs now and how he is running this team. Doc Walker is also another critic of this team because he see's that things are not like they were when he was here also.
To answer your question, NO. Because they can't even get there to be in that position to costs anything and IMO, that's part of B-Mitch's problem with this team. They can't even get there with all of the talent and coaching talent it has....
Look in the grand scheme of things, we are 2-1 and have 13 games left to get it right. I'm sure this is not the only post or thread of this nature that will occur on this board during this season. We are all passionate fans with our own perspectives and opinions. We can banter back and forth but what really matters is what the final score is each of the remaining Sunday's (or Monday's or Saturday's)........

Being the same or acting the same as players did back in the last tenure is no guarantee of success in today's NFL.
Yes, these players and coaches need to step things up but I am not looking for a team like the great teams of the past - I am looking for all these players and coaches to get on the same page and be who they are. These are professional athletes and they are just not playing very well together in my opinion and yet they are still 2-1 - this group needs to be better but they certainly will not succeed by being like a bunch of guys that played well in years past.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

"I block". There's something even Troy Aikman pointed out. I defy anyone to name a selfish player who blocks when they know the play is designed to go to someone else.
