Matt Jones's?

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Matt Jones's?

Post by rustedrootdown »

So I was just on the rumor part of www.sportsline.com and noticed that the jags may be trying to rid themselves of Matt Jones. I wonder if we could make a trade of Llyod for Matt? I mean it would be a wash for both teams (talent wise not sure about financially) and at least they could get a look at someone else.

I don't know how we'd go about acquiring him, but I wouldn't be too upset with giving him a shot if the price is right. He's a good athlete with a lot of potential (there's that word again) and he's 6'6". Definitely good enough to match up against a nickel corner or to use in the endzone. I honestly don't know much about him, though. There must be a reason he's been falling down the Jags' depth chart.

Some of the mods here are cap experts and can explain the financial stuff. We haven't even worked Caldwell in yet so lets not go receiver crazy. Lloyd will be hard to trade. There is a combination of us devaluing him by not finding a way to use him and devaluing himself by not making plays when given the chance. Either way at this point he has no value.

Where is the $30 Million figure coming from? Lloyd is due to make the following:
2007 595000.00
2008 605000.00
2009 3500000.00
2010 4000000.00
2011 4000000.00
2012 4000000.00

None of the salaries for future seasons are guaranteed. The cap hit for releasing Lloyd outright is, I believe, $2.4 Million. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Do we REALLY have BLloyd til 2012? OH MY GOD! He's gotta go NOW!

Matt Jones is one heck of a football player.

I take an even swap for BLloyd!
