This is surreal ... wow. I assumed this wasn't recent, it is not ... how did I miss this?

Good Grief. It looked to me like the police officer just wanted to play with his new toy. The officer was like the size of Chris Samuels. I think three officers could have restrained the guy without using a taser.

Didn't you know it's illegal to question authority in the U.S. these days?
What I find incredible is that the crowd just sits there and laughs. I mean I don't expect them to charge the police officers, but they aren't even challenging what is going on. That's what scares me the most about the police state we are becoming; people's indifference to the loss of fundamental freedoms.

As with many stories, I suspect there is more to this one... I have seen a bit of it. Be patient... this kid is a publicity jerk.

Did the cops over react? Maybe. Is this guy crying crocodile tears? Oh, he's crying all the way to the bank...

I voted for Kerry but even I found his approach to it a bit odd. I suppose this becomes a "what should he have done" scenario but I think his talking around it just seems strangely detatched.

How did they tell the student was actually tasered? Listening to Kerry's flip flopping contentless finger pointing ranting is like being tasered already.

Which rule of yours are you supposively violating? To ignore them completely, or did you simply fail to mention that if anyone deserves to be tasered it is the members of the Supreme Court?

The problem with states rights in that case was there was no way to actually defer to states rights. The judiciary was dictatorially overruling both the legislature who established the voting procedures and the executive branch who was executing the laws as passed.

In that case where you have 1 branch of government dictating to the other two, is it really "deferring to state rights" to stay out of it? The vote was 9-0 that Florida's courts were in err to allow different voting standards also, meaning both sides agreed with the decision.

Florida was a bad situation. The problem is that the vote count was within the margin of error for the ability of the equipment used to accurately count votes. However it ended up was going to be unfortunate. It's a matter of money, if we want better ability to count votes we need to spend the money to buy better equipment.

I can't tell, is this tongue in cheek or are you serious the Supreme Court should have rewritten the Constitution after the candidates campaigned and the votes were cast expecting them to be counted according to the electoral college?
