Giants vs. Cowboys

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Giants vs. Cowboys

Post by Irn-Bru »

Come on, Giants!

Eli throws a bomb in the first two minutes to put up the Giants by 6 (and the PAT was bobbled; I guess it was a tribute to Romo).

The reality is that I'd rather have the Giants lose, because I think they will be easier to beat and a Cowboys loss is never a bad thing.

Does anyone else find it odd that Strahan is one of the captains? :hmm:

I'm with you on this one. I'd rather have Philthy and DullAss at 0-1. Eli & company aren't scaring anyone this season.

6-10? What is that? 6-9 and the Dallas owes the Giants one?

17-6 Cowboys... I predicted the Cowboys would win but it's not what I wanted.

Them damn 0-0 ties never come when the Eagles, Cowboys, and/or Giants play each other. :-(

Yes, we all root for ANY team that play the team with the star on the helmet.

Giants decimated

Post by CanesSkins26 »

Eli Manning (shoulder), Brandon Jacobs (knee), and Osi Umenyiora (knee) all got in injured during the game against the Pukes. They are in big trouble if these guys are out for any extended period of time.

I didn't watch this game at all, so I have a question for those of you that did. Considering the final score, are the offenses of the Cowboys and Giants really that good (which would be bad), or are their defenses really that bad (which would be good)?

At the end of last year, my recollection is that the Cowboys really do have a solid offense, generally, so I'm not really surprised they can put up those numbers.

Considering the number of times I've heard "This is the highest scoring game ever betweent these two teams" I understand your question. I did see the game. The defenses and special teams for both the Gnats and the Cowpies were awful. This doesn't even include the numerous turnovers in the game. The Gnats couldn't even double cover Witten and that other guy I'm sick of. You know the one. Dallas isn't winning any defensive awards either. They couldn't stop the Gnats 2nd string running back.

I watched it and still don't know if it's good offense/bad defense or both. I'm guessing both for now, neither teams secondary is capable of covering anybody and w/o applying pressure on the opposing team's QB I think both of these teams will give up plenty of passing yards and td's. The Giants secondary looked lost under their new d-coordinator, Witten wasn't even covered on just about all of his catches, he was running wide open in the middle of the field. Also, the Cowboys WR's when running slants and crossing patterns were open as well, it seems the giants linebackers are not deep enough in coverage and not quick enough either to make up for the room vacated. The Cowboys secondary isn't much better and I still think Roy Williams is the most over-rated safety in footbal, he should be a LB. He was lost in coverage all night, they even doubled Plaxico on the goal line with roy and he still lost sight of plaxico who caught the TD behind williams in the back of the end zone. The only reason this game was close is because the Giants exploited the cowboys secondary. The Giants are not a good football team and seem very 1 dimensional, just so happens that 1 dimension is what the cowboys can't defend. I think the Cowboys were the much better team and Leonard Davis looks huge on the inside of their line, they created plenty of push on running plays. Their offense will be a huge challenge for our improved defense.

I watched the majority of the game and neither defense played worth a My 2 cents . When both QBs post 300+ passing games, then there are defensive coordinators that should be tar and feathered.

I WAS impressed with the Giants back up RB....

Newman out, Ferguson out, Ellis out. Namely Ferguson and Newman. They are far and away the most indispensable members of that defense. That may explain some of the Cowboys's defensive faults. That, and it is a brand new system, it does take time to adjust. Kinda like the Al Saunders offense. The Redskins are on season 2 of that and still trying to adjust?

Is there a misinterpretation about the word indispensable?

Roy Williams has an effective back-up in Ken Hamlin who can slide over to let Patrick Watkins start in the free safety position as he did for most of last year. He can be replaced without to much difficulty. Which wasn't the case obviously with Newman Or Frerguson. Ellis, not so much a problem as Spencer filled in just fine for his first ever NFL game.
