IMO Portis came back with no pre-season game and looked better than how he did yesterday. If he had more than 4 carries he could of had probably 120 yards.
But that Al saunders play book could have Portis in his best year ever. And the passing game did good even if ey and Moss didn't make the plays we hoped but next week they well.

Though there were numerous dropped balls and a few wrong routes, I think the overall blend of deep passes and power runs kept Miami confused for much of the day. It seems like he was definitely trying to stretch the field by keeping the deep pall in the mix. I think Miami had to compensate from their game plan in order to protect against the deep ball, which allowed for Portis and Betts to have a chance at the line of scrimmage.
Notwithstanding some rusty exeecution, I give Saunders play calling yesterday a very welcome thumbs up!!!!
It can only get better as the team shakes the rust off and gets more comfortable with the offense. I think they showed a much better comfort level with the offense yesterday, however, there is room for improvement.
I agree. I really felt like Saunders was playing to our strengths. I also think he gave Jason Campbell some shots downfield as well. It is looking more and more like the classic Gibbs teams. All in all I like what Saunders is doing so far.
I thought that Al called a good game. However, I think that we should have rammed it down their throats late with a good mixture of Portis outside, Betts inside and ey in the flats. That defense was pretty good for three quarters but they were visibly tired in the fourth and we didn't run them over.
I give the offensive play calling a B-.
The defense on the other hand. I give C+. Because GW did not blitz a guy that has a shakey noggin and he allowed Smoot and Rogers to give the WRs too much cushion. The Miami WRs were not speedsters so they could have played up on them and ran with them if needed. The front four needs to get better pressure up the middle because Carter was making Green step-up in the pocket most of the day and if we had a decent middle pass rush, we could have gotten more than just one sack. Also, do we have anybody on defense that can catch a football. If we can't capitalize on mistakes other teams make, we are doomed. Smoot catches that Green pass and the game is essentially over because there was no one in front of him. They did a good job stuffing the run and Rocky and London proved that this LB corp is one to reckon with. We just have to get Marcus healthy and we'll be straight...

I wonder if anyone has mentioned this to Samuels...
My mistake.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
THe play calling was light years better in game one. Too bad it took 16 games for Saunders to figure out how to pund the Rock. Also glad to see they aren't afraid to take shots down the field. Even if they don't pay off we need to spread the D. Should be alot more fun to watch this season.
