I would love to be able to draft Calais Campbell from Miami but he is most likely going to be a top 10, if not a top 5, pick. Hopefully we aren't in a position where he have that type of high draft choice.

Well those are my early choices. By next year we will have a better idea, also more prospects to look at. So either way if we dont trade away our first rounder we are in good shape. There should be plenty of Defensive Ends in next years draft. I say better than this years group. Even DT.

Where in the world do you think we are going to get a dominant defensive now?

Also Chris Long out of Virginia or Quentin Groves out of Auburn who is good too. Its gonna be a great draft for D-ends next year.

During this college season. All I am doing is scouting out Defensive Ends. Also other potential talent.

Phillip Daniels is above average when healthy. Andre Carter can be a force. Neither are elite but I think they're more than adequate.

Generally, we need another impact player on the defensive line and I would have been fine with the Skins taking DT Amobi Okoye from Louisville. I think we would have taken Gaines Adams from Clemson if available. I like LaRon Landry though. Safe pick and he will have a big impact on the defense. He is easily talented enough to compete for the Rookie Defensive Player of the Year.

Next year we will continue to build both on offensive and defensive lines through the draft and free agency. We have to and any personnel exec would know that. We will also continue to look for young QB talent in the later rounds and another WR to compliment Moss.

As much as an advocate as I was in the off season for overhauling the D Line, I think we have adequate enough to hold off until this coming year's draft for DE to replace Daniels. He won't be around much longer with age, and even if he is, he won't be an every down lineman. As long as we take a good DE to replace Daniels and address the aging offensive line(for grooming, not immediate replacement), I'll be content. I don't see any glaring holes for the next few years. Maybe keep an eye out for a corner in the next few years.....

Our defense kicks ass. Our DL seems to be more streamlined and built for speed. The sacks and TO's will come often b/c we will be sending our whole defense at QB's b/c we have Fletcher to simmer down the run, the DB's are the best possibly ever assembled by this team (Debate that later)
we might even blitz a referee or 2.

Despite my praise, our whole draft next year has to be built around DL/WR and replace the old guys that retire.

Daniels I hope becomes used as a DT b/c our young DE's look like they are gonna burst.

I think that's part of the problem. Who will be left to catch the errant pass? I'm high on our defense this year but I don't think it'll be catching a lot of interceptions. Until we have a good rush with our front four and can leave folks back in coverage, we won't really get a lot of INTs.

D line looks solid. Andre Carter finished strong last season, and has nad a solid preseason. New linebacksers will make a difference in the pass rush....

I understand, but we are getting back to the GW style of defense in addition to that, we have reliable DB's sitting on the bench. No more boo-boo's for springs/rogers to gripe over we are ready with insurrance policies.

In my mind a 3 and out is a TO. If teams dont wanna drop back I dare them to attempt to run. That should be the real test and we have established that the DL has been upgraded simply by the offseason nad healthy returners. Fletcher is gonna be the best MLB inf the NFC EAST and Rocky Mc. I dont think anyone is ready for this kid to get unleashed.

His only hangup in the draft was college injuries. He is gonna be a sack master. This defense can only improve the TO #'s last year and looking at this on paper I didn't think it was possible to have doubts.

Lets just hope for good health and a strong dominant start to get us to the bye week and we won't look back.

Basically only reason we didn't sign a good DE like Patrick Kerney or any one in free agency was because, they might not turn out as good as we hope. Also we usally over pay and if we did that we probably wouldn't have enough cap to re-sign cooley or Taylor.

But next year the best DE that could be in free agency would be Terrell Suggs. But to be safe lets just draft a DE in the first round. And i think we would have alot of INT IMO cause are DL (Remember) hasn't started Griffin at all and Carter is looking sharp and i predict 9 sacks this year with 1 FF.But he is turning out to be the 1st round pick that he wants to be and Daniels is so big he'll clug up the hole. Also we can have guys like landry/Washington/Macklin/Springs/Taylor/Rocky Macintosh on blitzes but thats the main thing and Daniels could be looking how he was in 05 don't underestimate the guy.

im pretty happy with who we have. Suggs next year will be way too expensive and i expect him to stay with the Ravens any ways. but i mean we dont need superstars.

That's a pretty bold statement considering that we have had guys like Darrell Green and Champ here. I like our secondary a lot this year but Springs has health issues, Smoot has struggled the last 2 years in Minnesota (although I expect him to rebound here), and Rogers couldn't catch a cold and has yet to live up to the expectations of a top 10 pick. They'll def be better than last season but saying that they are the best ever is a pretty big stretch.

I think Rogers is going to be top 10 in CB this year.

I won't go that far and say that our secondary is the best we've ever had. But I will say that I like what we have and the fact now that Rogers has a "hot poker" on his butt with Smoot waiting in the wings. That motivation there will pay dividends for Rogers I hope.

Health is always a concern but I think we have depth now and we should be okay. But this all comes back to pass rush. Carter now has to show and prove. He's had one full year under GW's system and I sincerely hope that he spent more time on his technique and moves than his body this past off-season. If we can average 2.5-3.5 sacks and 13-15 hurries per game, I think we our defense can lock teams down. If we can't get to the QB and make them hurry, then by week 4 or 5, teams would have us figured out and we are dead in the water.....

Rogers so far is looking like a lockdown CB and hes tackling ability is good. And Smoot gave up some plays so we need to work with him on that but hes a soild 3nd string and even a 2nd stringer. But Springs is healthy and still can tackle guys hes size but he needs to get back on form.He let Santonio Holmes look good on that big 3rd and 17 play.
