Listen bro, I live in South Florida and most Fins fans here have a realistic and rational perspective on Green. He is a band aide that maybe has a year or two left in the tank, and most fans here recognize that.
Trent Green was nothing before he went to Kansas City. The VAST majority of his success with the Chiefs was directly attributed to their offensive coordinator, Al Saunders, who happens to be our current offensive coach. Green is one big hit and one concussion away from retirement, and Mr. LaRon Landry very well may be the one to expedite the end of Trent's career.
Where is your depth, on both sides of the ball? I'll grant you that your defense has been decent over the past few years, but what has that gotten you? Your defense is aging, you have no secondary, and absolutely no depth for rotation.
On offense, again, where is the depth? You have a decent RB in Ronnie Brown and a decent WR in Chambers. That's it. Ginn is as green as you get, but I'll grant he is an upgrade over Booker at WR. If Green and Brown miss any time at all, do you really think Cleo Lemon and Jesse Chatman will do anything for that offense? Even Shula and Marino talk here on the TV and radio about the horrible o-line and the lack of depth, on both sides of the ball.
I am a former Class-A PGA Golf Professional. I was the 1st assistant at Adios Golf Club in Deerfield Beach, FL for several years. Adios Golf Club is a private, millionaires mens club, with many professional athletes as members. I no longer work there but am still good friends with the General Manager of the club, Arther Cobb, and still play there from time to time. Dan Marino is a member at Adios and I have personally had several conversations with him over the years regarding the Dolphins. Several months ago, before Trent Green was signed, the foursome of Dan Marino, Chris Carter, Keith Byers (all members) and Olindo Mare were in the pro shop at Adios talking football. ALL of them shared a good and long laugh about the idea of Cleo Lemon leading this team. There is no depth on that team and everyone knows it.
So say what you want, it just comes off as mindless and uninformed chatter. I can appreciate that a fan wants his team to be successful, but you fail to recognize that simple FACT that if the Dolphins were to lose 2 or 3 players, for any length of time, the team has no chance. Additionally, the Dolphins have all new coaches, a new QB and a new playbook. Do you really they've had enough time together to be a cohesive or integrated unit? I didn't think so. Not only do the Dolphins need some luck against the Skins September 9th, they'll need quite a bit of luck to manage the entire season.
